Williams, who graduated from Orr High School and attended the Chicago
Public Schools, said he was proud of his tenure with the board. He said
among his key programs was a program he started to bring in more than
1,000 African-American men to read to children in the school system.
CPS to Cut Freshman Spring Sports Lane Tech Fan Club

Robeson High School in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood, there are lots
of reasons kids quit school. Pregnancy is definitely one of them. This
year so far there are some 80 teen parents at the school. It’s a
district-wide issue. Yet Chicago Public Schools has nothing in place to
address the problem. No prevention, no counseling once teens become
parents. Instead it’s up to struggling neighborhood high schools like
