As many parents and teachers already know, Friday is the deadline for applying to a magnet school for next year in CPS -- one of the most frustrating and difficult processes of the year, according to many readers. Not only are the forms varied and information on the programs hard to get. There's also the difficulty of getting in.
On Monday, CPS released its new elementary "scorecards" for magnet schools,
magnet programs. They include information on student-teacher ratio, teacher attendance, academic programs, and test scores data.
"The scorecards are contained in the 2007-08 Elementary and Pre-K Directory, which is now available in both English and Spanish at every elementary school, CPS central office at 125 S. Clark, public libraries, park district buildings, day-care centers and elected officials offices."
