Daley: 'You need modern schools' CST
Despite four straight years of declining enrollment, Chicago will use
the bonanza of revenue generated by tax-increment financing to embark
on a $1 billion school construction spree, including nine new high
schools and 15 new elementary schools, Mayor Daley said Thursday.
Mayor Richard Daley on Thursday rolled out an ambitious plan to spend
nearly $1 billion on 24 new schools, projects that will add thousands
more seats for children in the city's most crowded neighborhoods.
