Fred Hess Passes Away

Sad news for school reformers in Chicago.  According to a note from Anne Hallett that was sent along to me, Fred passed away last night, Friday.  Like many, I'd heard that he was ailing, though I wasn't one of the "Friends of Fred"  who saw or planned to see him recently.  In the email, Hallett describes "how important his work has been to us and to the school reform community in Chicago and nationally."

True enough.  There's apparently no funeral date set yet, and it may not be for a couple of weeks.  However, notes can be sent to Freds wife, Mary, her
address is 195 North Harbor, Apartment 208, Chicago, IL 60601.
