A reader writes in to ask how widespread the practice of early dismissal for bus kids is in CPS, and whether the practice disadvantages kids who need all the instructional minutes they can get:
"Is it legal for students who are bussed to be dismissed 10 minutes
early every day? With so many students failing, I am just amazed that
these students who are bussed are being robbed of at least 50 minutes
of school per week. That is not even including the time it takes for
them to gather their coats and supplies for dismissal."
Does it happen at your school? Is it legal? Is anything done to make up or account for the lost instructional time?
