Clearing Up The Ren-10 Confusion

Mike Klonsky, who was involved with the Austin Polytech proposal and went to the event yesterday, points out on his blog that both dailies "really screwed up their coverage. The Sun-Times reported that only four schools would be approved...As for the Tribune, they call us a charter school."

True enough, both papers initially reported that there were only four schools approved, and got some of the categories wrong -- there are four performance schools in the group of 19, the closest thing to a regular public school there is in Ren10.  But apparently the confusion came at least in part from CPS, which had not finalized its list and gave the papers the preliminary figure.
