Arts In Chicago Schools

Kudos to the Chicago Academy of the Arts for being recognized as a national leader (Value of arts education in spotlight) and to CPS for trying to address the loss of the arts in schools, which was mentioned in a Sun Times editorial on Monday:

"A 2005 study revealed Illinois was considerably below national averages in the number of students receiving lessons in music, theater, dance and the visual arts. Responding to those findings, Chicago Public Schools in August named a new arts czar, David Roche, who promises to boost and develop programs and acquire badly needed technology for arts teaching."
