Art & Science in Chicago

Chicago Public Library culminates Poetry Month by hosting its 8th annual Poetry Fest, a free festival of poetry readings, workshops (i.e., urban haiku), performances and discussions. Saturday, April 28th, 10am-4:15pm at the HWLC.

A Rabbit’s Tale, part of the CSO Kraft Family Matinee Series, combines the symphony experience with Japanese bunraku puppetry. Saturday, April 28th, 11am. (pre-concert activities start one hour earlier). Inexpensive seats are still available.

Family Day at the Museum of  Contemporary Art. A day of art and activities on Saturday, April 28th, 10:30am- 4pm. Free admission for families with children age 12 and under.

And don’t forget: another half-day on Tuesday, May 1st. Check your branch library for the museum pass to the Peggy Notebaert Museum and hit Magicicada, a multimedia exhibition about the 17-year cicada coming to our area in June. Check out the butterfly garden while you’re there.
