Algebra in L. A. Teach and Learn
There's a long article in the
Times about the high school algebra problem, particularly as it
relates to drop outs. The failure rate in
Algebra is CPS's most pressing educational problem, hands down.
Chancellor Pledges Autonomy for Some N.Y.C. Schools Education Week
New York City will quadruple the number of schools (currently 58) that get
additional freedom in exchange for good performance, the districts
chancellor has announced. Under Mr. Kleins plan, another 150 schools
would be added to the autonomy zone next fall. Chicago has
begun to explore a similar strategy.
