A Little Bit of Chicago In DC

So there I was, wandering around in the back during the question and answer session following Secretary Spellings' speech on NCLB in Washington on Monday when I hear a familiar voice asking a familiar question:  How come schools don't tell parents that there is money for parent education in Title I and give parents all the rights and resources to which they are entitled?

Yes, it was Okema Lewis, whose name many will recognize from CPS Board meetings over the past several years, who was somehow there in DC to talk about this issue -- and also about a parent at Steinmetz who is apparently prevented from observing in her child's classroom.  I don't have all the facts (big surprise) but if you want to know more you can contact Okema at oi_title1_peg@yahoo.com.
