Republicans, pathetically and habitually deaf to common sense suggestions, are refusing to ask the FBI to investigate Christine Blasey Ford's accusation that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her three decades ago in high school.
Republican explanations that Senate Judicial Committee can do a competent job and the FBI isn't necessary are flimsy and a dodge. Call Ford's and Democrats' bluff and just do it. It can be accomplished in a few days and it will silence yet another Democratic pitiful attempt to delay Kavanaugh's confirmation vote. If they find her claims credible, which I doubt, Kavanaugh of course should not be confirmed. Even if he is, Ford's accusation will haunt Kavanaugh and every decision he participates in, especially those he writes.
An FBI probe of course would be short lived, because who can its agents interview? Ford can't remember where the party was held. Or who was attending, other than a Kavanaugh pal who already has said he can't recall such an incident, then or ever. If other witnesses are found, how credible will they be decades later? How many high school parties can you remember clearly?
