Why the probe of the Trump/Russian connection must continue until the bitter end

Is President Donald Trump really that dense that he did not understand why his comments at his press conference with Russian tyrant Vlad Putin raised such a stink? (Trump surprised at fierce criticism of Putin news conference)

Is he so moronic that he can take Putin's word that Russia didn't meddle  in our elections over  U.S. intelligence agencies's unanimous conclusion that it did? Is he so ignorant that he couldn't see the damage that his silly or dangerous nonsense would cause? Does he really believe that he can see no reason for the Russians to interfere in our elections.

Whom does he think he is, resetting our relationship with Russia a la Hillary Clinton.

It's just one more reason that  Special Counsel Robert Mueller must continue the investigation into Russian collusion to whatever bitter end they portend.

Over and over again Trump has fed those suspicions that he or someone withputin-trump his knowledge  aligned themselves with Putin's or Russia's interests and against our own. His attempts, as recently as yesterday, to divert attention by returning again and again to the alleged failures to thoroughly investigate Hillary Clinton's assorted transgressions.

His trashing of law enforcement, the intelligence agencies, the generals ("I'm smarter than the generals.") His constant yapping about "witch hunts" and "fake news" to draw attention away from legitimate questions about himself. Does he protest too much?

And this: His and his most ardent apologists' failures to see how the Russian interference in our elections favored him over Clinton. His refusal to understand how the hacked and  leaked anti-Clinton disclosures favored him. Even Putin's own confirmation that he favored Trump over Clinton

And then this from yesterday's press conference:

My people came to me, (director of National Intelligence) Dan Coats came to me, some others, they said they think it's Russia. I have President Putin, he just said it's not Russia. I will say this: I don't see any reason why it would be.

Reasonable people can fairly ask, "What the hell is going on?" Despite the personal attacks on Mueller and his staff, the health of the Republic demands that the investigation continue until we have all the answers. Mueller's investigation is the best and only way to get those answers.

Likewise, the investigations into Hillary Clinton must proceed, looking into so many of her transgressions, among them her uranium deal while she was secretary of state, her private email server, the cover-up of the cause of the Benghazi attacks and on and on. Just because Trump is trying to direct attention to her is no reason why her actions should not be scrutinized by independent investigators.

The sturm und drang by everyone before all the deserved independent investigations are completed is tiresome and dangerous. Both sides would do all of us a big favor by laying off the posturing until we know what we don't know.

  • Correct. Thank you very much. The man seems to forget the existence of video and audio taping, let alone the fact that he is one of the more recorded people on the planet. There is evidence of what the president says, regardless of whether he remembers it.

  • Haven't we exhausted the search for evidence to put Hillary Clinton in jail. The Benghazi investigation lasted two and a half years and yielded NO indictments. Doesn't that tell us something? I'm not a Clinton sycophant by any stretch of the imagination, but there comes a time when even the most rabid Clinton hater has to say ENOUGH!

I don't known what has been exhausted by any of it. All I'm asking is for people to let up until we know what we don't know.

I believe that the Russians tampered with the elections here in Illinois. How else would you explain how we got stuck with Durbin and Duckworth?
