Black women live longer than white men

How's that white patriarchy thing going?

The Center for Disease Control reports that the average life expectancy is longer for black women than it is for white men. There are lots of explanations for this, but could one of them be that male whiteness may not be all that privileged. Or if it is, why haven't men figured out how to live longer?

Meanwhile, the gap between black and whites is steadily closing. Reports the New York Times: “Blacks are catching up,” said Samuel Preston, a demographer at the University of Pennsylvania. “The gap is now the narrowest it has been since the beginning of the 20th century, and that’s really good news.”
