Vladimir Putin=Richard J. Daley

Listen to this tool compare the late Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley The First to Russian strongman Vladimir Putin. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Cal.), like President Donald Trump, has this strange affinity for Putin and Russia, an affinity that promoted Rohrabacher to suggest that sure, Russian has its strongmen, just like Daley. Yikes

It's about 1:25:25 into the video

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) had an appropriate reply:

"I went to school in Chicago during his mayoralty," Connolly, who went to the former Maryknoll College in Glen Ellyn, told the committee, which Chicago Inc. caught on video. "I didn't know him, but I assure you, Vladimir Putin is no Richard Daley. Richard Daley didn't have his political opponents assassinated. He didn't send them into exile. He didn't put them in prison. He didn't silence the press. He didn't assassinate members of the press. He didn't exile members of the press. He sparred with them, and sometimes he was bested. The late Mike Royko made a career out of that and a very good career, at (criticizing the mayor). ... There is no comparison, and I think we do ourselves a disservice by not recognizing on a bipartisan basis the gravity of the situation we face."
