The definition of Chutzpah: The Bears raise season ticket prices

After one of the worst seasons in its 97-year history (?), the Bears are raising their ticket prices, reports Crain's Chicago Business.

Audacious. Cheeky. Appalling. Unbelievable.

  • Conventional wisdom, but in the capitalist system, people don't have to buy, especially this. I don't know if this does ill to those who paid for PSLs or whatever the Bears were doing for financing, but they knew the risks. It might lead to local game blackouts, but, again, that's Miller/Coors's problem.

  • Mully and Hanley had an interesting discussion on this today. After reading the letter to season ticket holders, with such classic PR pap of "the team will be better with all the salary cap space and the third pick," there were the notables that "season tickets are still cheaper than 10 individual tickets" and the "adjustments" included some premium games [not said is apparently Packer fans from Kenosha are willing to pay more]. M&H's reaction was sure the package is cheaper than 10 tickets, but what if you can get tickets for 3 games on the secondary market? The other question they raised is what do you do if after 8 years on the waiting list, you get the letter to pony up by March 6? Apparently, that's a dilemma for Bears fans.

It sounds like what the Cubs ticket office did around 2013. I guess some people on Cubs Den paid up,but the McCaskeys will have to see if their customers do. After all "George worked in the ticket office."
