Is this fake news? She dumps her boyfriend because Trump won

Used to be that George W. Bush got blamed for everything. Time to update: Blame Donald Trump.

Incredibly, here's someone who blames Trump for losing interesting in dating. She says she dumped her boyfriend after Trump was elected. Can't handle it, I guess. Wrote Stephanie Land about a prospect to fill her lonely life:

Don "the Devil" Trump, scaring kids.

Don "the Devil" Trump, scaring kids.

We dated for a few weeks before he admitted he wasn’t ready for something serious. Two days later, the other of those good dates called me out of the blue. We talked for a while, and I asked him to dinner. Things were falling into place. A feast was laid out on the table, and it looked delicious.

But two weeks later, the election happened. Once it was clear that Donald Trump would be president instead of Hillary Clinton, I felt sick to my stomach. I wanted to gather my children in bed with me and cling to them like we would if thunder and lightning were raging outside, with winds high enough that they power might go out. The world felt that precarious to me.

No, this is not the much feared "fake news" that has received so much attention and loathing. Land is a real person whose essay was published in a real newspaper.

I can't go on.

  • Unlike folks who came out to vote and went back into the closet when there was no more reason to Thump Hillary, you seem to be continuing promoting your candidate. Sad!

Back to #pizzagate Dennis. Going to shoot up a Lou Malnati's?

  • In reply to district299reader:

For the umpteenth time, Donald Trump was not and is not my candidate. Jeez, Reader, do some reading. I'm not Thumping Hilary; I'm thumping the whiners whose lives have ended because their candidate didn't win. Grow up.

  • In reply to Dennis Byrne:

    1. You don't know how old I am. We know how old you are.
    2. So why do you find it now necessary to thump those whose candidate got a plurality of the popular vote? I know that's not how it works, but I don't think her boyfriend needs your sympathy.
    3. Who hit Paste for both the penultimate and ultimate paragraph of the blockquote? Doesn't tronc have proofreaders?

  • In reply to district299reader:

What difference does it make how old I am or you are? My post wasn't referring to physical age. It was talking about emotional age. I wasn't trying to give her boyfriend sympathy. Actually, I think that he came out ahead on the deal. Thanks for pointing out the duplication. tronc doesn't proof read my posts, as you know. It's my mistake.
