The GOP's last presidential hope: Trump resigns, Pence replaces him on ticket

UPDATES:

Of the two presidential major party presidential candidates--Republican Donald Trump or Democrat Hillary Clinton--who has the least chance of winning, I'd guess (wildly and don't hold me to it) that Trump will be retiring after the election to his old job of screwing his suppliers and contractors by declaring bankruptcy.

Republicans had a gimme putt to retake the White House against the deplorable Hillary Clinton, but blew it by nominating the uber-narcissist Trump. But after the vice presidential debate, it's clear that Mike Pence not only would have made a better presidential candidate but a more-than- likely successful one.

There's probably not a truly objective judge of who won the debate against the loud-mouthed Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Kaine, but opinion seems to be that Pence won it by being cool, calm and collected--the exact opposite of Trump. (There are, of course, exceptions.)

So, already the speculation has started that Pence will be a likely (and good) candidate for the 2020 election. (Can't we even take a moment's pause before diving into the 2020 presidential election?) But if anything, Pence demonstrated the knowledge, ability and temperament to replace Trump on this year's ballot. Right, it never will happen because Trump's gigantic ego would never allow him to do it, unless his defeat became so certain that he'd bow out claiming that the election was rigged against him.

But I can dream, can't I?

What would happen if Trump quit the race?

  • What you fail to address is that fact that calm, cool, and collected politicians for the past 30 years have taken the USA's debt to GDP ratio from a healthy 50% to a nation destroying 104% as of the end of 2015.

Now we are forced into a ZIRP interest rate policy (soon to be negative) so we can service this debt, while our nation's elderly are forced to work till they're dying day because their saving earns zero.

In other words, you prefer to be conned by smooth talkers instead of harsh truths from brash souls.

  • Calling Trump a "brash soul" is to go to easy on him.

  • OMG...you are kidding, right? Pence is just as bad as Trump. Nobody likes the guy... in fact they all hate him. He would have lost reelected in Indiana. He used his campaign contributions to pay his mortgage way back when. He passed a law to force women to have funerals for their fetuses. Thank God that was overturned. He shut down Planned Parenthood clinics and now Indiana has an HIV outbreak. He wants "women back in the home, where they belong" like the days of June Cleaver in Leave It To Beaver. He may look polished with his $400 hair cut and he may maintain his cool under pressure. He's a Christian religious zealot. What part of that is even vaguely good for anyone who isn't white and privileged?

  • Wasn't worth reading beyond your false assertion that "he" passed a law "to force women to have funerals for their aborted fetuses." Technically, he signed into law legislation passed by the Indiana legislature. But more to the point, it is wrong: http://www.snopes.com/pence-law-forcing-fetus-funerals/
