I heard Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump say today that he knows that it's a "fact" that national presidential election polls show that he is the only candidate who can beat Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton.
No one, it seems, asked him to tell us which polls he's talking about. But the fact is, he gets defeated in all but one recent poll, by either Clinton or Bernie Sanders.
Real Clear Politics keeps track of all the polls. Its average of the polls today shows Clinton beating Trump by 6.3 percentage points. The latest poll by NBC News/Wall St. Journal shows Clinton leading by 13 percentage points. The average shows that even socialist Sanders beats Trump by 10 percentage points.
The polls also show that the conventional wisdom is correct: Other Republican candidates generally have a better chance of beating Clinton.
