- Chicago area sees greatest population loss of any major U.S. city, region in 2015
- Chicago Teachers Union delegates give go-ahead for April 1 walkout
The Chicago Teachers Union is hell-bent to send the city of Chicago down the tubes. Giving not a crap about anything but their
own paychecks, they're ready to walk out on their students on April 1. For what purpose? To show that they're pissed?
How stupid are the leaders of the Chicago Teachers Union? Do they really think that this will win them more public support? Rally Chicagoans behind their iron-clad pension guarantees?
Their action now was revealed some cracks in the union, as evidenced by this post in ChicagoNow: "A Chicago Public Schools teacher tries to make sense of CTU strike vote. But can’t."
As this is going on, the Illinois Supreme Court once again confirmed the untouchable nature of the Illinois Constitution's "protection" of the insanely generous pension benefits. A provision, you need to be reminded, that was snuck into the Illinois Constitutional Convention final document without any public hearings or prior notice. We could have gotten rid of it in the once-every-20-year opportunity for a new constitutional convention, but the city and state power brokers successfully opposed the calling of that convention.
