All right! Obama has ISIS surrounded!

In what may be President Barack Obama's most poorly timed proclamation, he asserted on ABC that ISIS has been contained, just hours before the deadly Islamist jihadists' attacks on Paris. He said (about 1:10 into the video):

“I don't think they're gaining strength,” the president told Stephanopoulos in an interview at the White House Thursday. “From the start our goal has been first to contain, and we have contained them. They have not gained ground in Iraq. And in Syria it -- they'll come in, they'll leave.

"But you don't see this systematic march by ISIL across the terrain," he added, using the government's acronym for ISIS.

Right. Just like Obama contained the Islamic jihadists in Benghazi.  And before that, just like he contained them in Syria. And before that, just like he contained them in northern Iraq. And just like he has done in Afghanistan. And just like he has  done in northern Africa.

"Folks" in Paris might disagree.

The media should remind us of this foolishness as often as they reminded us of the foolishness of George H. Bush's "mission accomplished" banner. Should but probably won't.

On PBS' Saturday Edition Nov. 14, Scott Simon found a George Mason political science professor to say that the Paris attack demonstrated that ISIS is weakening and would lose adherents.

That interview was followed shortly by a Parisian who told Simon that the attack had nothing to do with Islam.

  • In reply to MillerDan:

Did he say what it had to do with?

  • Are you blaming Obama for the Paris attacks? Absurd.

  • In reply to Aquinas wired:

It appears he's blaming the President for a foolish narrative. Foolish narratives lead to bad plans. Europe allowing the Syrian migration was a bad plan and so is Obama bringing 200,000 thousand to the United States.

  • In reply to Aquinas wired:

Nope. I'm saying that his politics have blinded him to the realities.

Just saw a Parisian who was at the concert say we must love each other....most of the problem Westerners have with Militant Islam is they don't understand the other side...they live on hate...it is in their religion and DNA...they cannot love, compromise, get along, give peace a chance, give us a safe space or any of the other trite slogans we a barage with....they are not surrounded, they are on the move and will be in a town near you
