Alarming lack of transparency in Gov. Pat Quinn's administration

A new study by For the Good of Illinois has turned the spotlight on an  alarming lack of transparency in Gov. Pat Quinn's administration. The study found:

81% of Quinn appointees leading agencies are not in compliance with mandatory Open Meeting Act training and certification. These executive appointees failed to sit for and/or pass the mandatory training- or failed to EVEN RESPOND to our request to review their certifications. It’s willful disregard for basic law or incompetence. Review database here.

Furthermore, 100% of top 17 state agencies are not in compliance with mandatory Open Records (FOIA) law. Click here for our Freedom of Information Act study | February 24, 2014.

Seems like Quinn is following the lead of another son of Illinois, President Barack Obama, who received unusual criticism from the New York Times in an editorial, "What happened to transparency?" That came a day after veteran New York Times reporter James Risen called the Obama administration, "The Greatest Enemy Of Press Freedom That We Have Encountered In At Least a Generation.”

This from an administration that Obama promised that would be the most transparent in history. Oh, well.
