Epstein and I grew up in the same West Rogers Park (Nortown) neighborhood a few blocks from each other but never met. He, I'm told, went to Boone, the public school and I attended St. Tim's, the Catholic one, also on Washtenaw, a few blocks south of Boone and just south of Devon. No matter, I too, am a great fan, reading his essays and articles wherever I encounter them, mostly in the Weekly Standard.
Have a happy retirement, Mr. Epstein, but don't leave us starved for more.
The Great Midwest Book Festival named my historical novel, "Madness: The War of 1812," the best general fiction book of 2013. The New York Book Festival gave it an honorable mention. Goodreads readers named it one of the best 25 books about the War of 1812. Check why out every American needs to know more about the war at http://www.madness1812.com
