NY Times said Bush could jiggle the job numbers. So, why not Obama too?

Only the right wing crazies think that Obama is inflating the employment numbers to favor his re-election? Look at what the New York Times says:

In other words, the government has cooked the books. It has been a more subtle manipulation than the one during the Reagan administration, when people serving in the military were reclassified from ''not in the labor force'' to ''employed'' in order to reduce the unemployment rate. Nonetheless, the impact has been the same.

  • Is this some kind of joke. The New York Times article is almost 9 years old!

Yes, this is rather funny. Aquinas finally says something intelligent and is still incorrect. In actuality, he can question date of the article, but has no defense as to its veracity as pertains the current administration. Some things never change.

  • Yes, this serves as an illustration of how government plugs in the figures it chooses -- and please notice the author!

I do believe that Obama will win, and it will be by voter stupidity and fraud. The "47" percent who are receiving some kind of government payout are not likely to vote against their interests and the Obama administration knows how to get out the "dead" vote.

Get ready for four more years of Obama recovery.

  • In reply to Richard Davis:

I appreciate your vote of confidence for Obama. But I disagree with your interpretation of "voter stupidity". VS does exist. The proof is that many will vote for Romney despite his lies and 1% agenda.

  • In reply to Aquinas wired:

You know Obama's in trouble when the left starts to mount a defense as to why they lost/will lose the White House. Bush 2 it was the Supreme Court. With Romney it will be that he lied his way into the White House. Never has a liberal lost because of their policies, experience or past performance.

  • In reply to DonB:

    Hear, hear.

  • Yes, Aquinas got me on my deceptive headline, which I've changed. I was trying to suggest that the NYTimes (i.e. liberals) can see how an administration can giggle the job numbers--when Bush was president. Doesn't the same thing apply to the Obama administration?

  • In reply to Dennis Byrne:

But you have no proof that it did, do you?

  • Proof that the books are cooked? Did you read what Dennis wrote? "Only the right wing crazies think that Obama is inflating the employment numbers to favor his re-election?"

It sounds like maybe you are making the statement, "if you make a claim, you should have the proof to back it"?

  • In reply to DonB:

And there are a lot of "right-wing crazies", aren't there? Including Jack Welch and Donald Trump and Fox News.

I really do not have a dog in this hunt. I am for cleaning house, senate, white house, the entire process. What I am tired of is our plutocratic media inciting good citizens to the point where all criticism is viewed as an attack. Right wing crazies, left wing loons; lies, lies and more lies, all we seem to read about. Until we find a better way, it would be nice if we can leave lying and accusations of it to the politicians. When is the last time any of them did anything for the people they represent? When is the last time any of them were truthful about anything?
