"From his rearview mirror, he saw two young men in hoodies jump into a waiting gray SUV and speed off."

Quoted in a Tribune story about one killed and five wounded in a Gresham shooting. Rev. Londale McNeal said he had just left his church next door to the convenience store and was driving east on 79th, about a block away, when he heard between 10 and 12 gunshots. From his rearview mirror, he saw two... Read more »

Why do media describe George Zimmerman as a "white Hispanic?"

George Zimmerman the guy accused by the media, activists–but not the police or prosecutors–who shot and killed Trayvon Martin is being described in much of the media as a “white Hispanic.” In the decades that I’ve labored as a newsman and columnist, I’ve never see a suspect in a crime described as a “white Hispanic.”... Police: Zimmerman says Trayvon decked him with one blow then began hammering his head

According to an Orlando Sentinel exclusive: With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk, leaving him bloody and battered, law-enforcement authorities told the Orlando Sentinel. That is the account Zimmerman gave... Read more »

NBC asks: Did Dick Cheney really deserve that heart?

You knew that someone would ask that question, and NBC did. Even though he waited longer than the typical recipient. I guess we now can judge who “deserves” a transplanted organ by their political views. Can’t wait until ObamaCare when bureaucrats will make that decision. Here’s a comment on it from

A modest proposal: kill your newborn if you don't want him.

Killing newborns should be permissible. Call it “after-birth abortion” (but don’t call it infanticide). Insist that killing an infant should be permissible for any reason, just like abortion. Argue that an infant is no different than a fetus. Assert that not wanting a newborn is reason enough to kill it. No, I’m not making this up.... Read more »

"Housing prices and market set to rebound"

After falling 34% over the past six years, U.S. home prices will soon bottom. They could turn back up by spring 2013. At least that’s what this article in Barron’s says. The article’s author, Jonathan R. Laing, finds a “bifurcated” market in which some housing sectors are doing well, and others have a longer way... Read more »

Black Panthers offer $10,000 bounty for capture of George Zimmerman in Trayvon Martin homicide

And what do the New Black Panthers plan to do when someone captures him? Who elected the Black Panthers sheriff? It’s a mystery to me why George Zimmerman, the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who shot Trayvon Martin last month hasn’t at least been the subject of a grand jury probe for a possible indictment. The ease with which... Read more »

Personal PAC, Fred Eychaner and big money bought an Illinois supreme court justice victory

Last minute personal smears by radical pro-choice group funded by big money contributions and backed by Rahm Emanuel’s Democratic machine carries the day for Illinois Supreme Court justice. Never heard of Fred Eychaner? Then you need to read this post in With Both Hands, a blog by a genuine Chicagoan, Pat Hickey. Eychaner is the Daddy Warbucks... Read more »

Why social conservatives should vote for Romney in Illinois presidential primary

An open letter to my pro-life and social conservative friends: Would you prefer that President Barack Obama appoint the nextU.S. Supreme Court justice? Would you prefer to have an Obama bureaucrat continue to impose her secular morality on what is supposed to be your constitutionally protected freedom to practice your religion? I could go on,... Poll: Do you plan to vote in Tuesday's Illinois primary?
