Those red light cameras DO work, in Elk Grove Village

We've been hearing a lot about how the photo-protected intersections are just a ruse to raise money for municipalities. We've heard a lot about how various studies have shown that they not only don't increase safety, but worse, they make the intersections more dangerous.

Studies, schmudies. Here's a real life example of how the cameras that pinch drivers who run red lights actually increases safety. Moreover, Elk Grove Village found that after turning off the cameras, red light accidents increased. So, now they're turning them back on.

Those who think that I'm against government at all levels haven't read me long enough. I'm a strong supporter of the cameras. Drivers who endanger other people's lives by running red lights deserve to get nailed. It is not an intrusion on personal privacy or liberty. Drivers are licensed. Driving is not a right. Violate the terms of the license and you deserve to get fined.

The story is here.
