This probably won't get many hits on a site where many people come to find out about sports, lifestyle and such, but this is a big deal, Chicagoans.

If you think you know anything about Chicago, you need to read this story about Chicago-based Boeing.

This is one of the longest-running battles for a government contract, a process that has been riddled with indecision, charges of corruption and fixes. No doubt it will continue to be controversial, with critics bewailing the decision.

  • No big deal for Chicago, unless Boeing moves its assembly plant here, which it won't.

It may be a big deal for the U.S. vs. France, but unless the few Boeing executives are going to spend their bonuses at a Randolph Street restaurant, and that's enough to rescue the economic doldrums here, I know enough about Chicago to know that this is not a big deal for it. Their official site only mentions assembly plants in Washington and South Carolina.

I'm sure Quinn is going to tout this as a jolt to the Illinois economy, too.
