Nutrition prof sheds 27 pounds on Twinkie diet

Pile of Chocolate Donuts

So much for all the diet blah, blah, blah. The premise of the professor's diet was simple: To lose weight, eat less.

Seems it doesn't matter too much what you eat. The professor's diet included Twinkies, nutty bars, donuts, Hostess and Little Debbie snacks, Dorito chips, sugary cereals and Oreos. He supplemented the diet with a multivitamin,  protein shake and a can of green beans or three to four celery stalks.

Most surprising, his cholesterol improved. The point was that calorie counting, not the nutritional value of food is what counts.

He's not recommending you do this at home, yet.

  • I think that the "he supplemented" sentence indicates that he cheated. Now, if it were only Twinkies, he might have lost weight but had other undesirable results.

Anyway, I was told that if one filled up on cruciferous vegetables, one would be full without the calories. At least they make me go.
