Will County tea party "darling" back on the ballot

From the Tribune:

Will County Associate Judge Bobbi Petrungaro overturned a 2-1 decision by the Will County Electoral Board to remove Cedra Crenshaw, 37, from the ballot over a technical issue with her nomination petitions. Crenshaw is vying to unseat Democratic state Sen. A.J. Wilhelmi in the 43rd District, which has been a Democratic stronghold since 1975.

The Tribune reporter, Mary Owen, referred to Crenshaw as a tea party "darling," which is an interesting usage. Is President Obama the "darling" of the far left?

  • Well, of course to your last question, except for the few that aren't happy that he didn't end the wars on Jan. 23, 2009.

From reading the TribLocal, it appears that, despite the Dems saying they won't challenge it any more, the judge made enough findings of fact that it would have probably been unattackable on appeal.

But giving this more thought, why were petitions even necessary? In Cook, there usually aren't Republicans running in the primary, and then the committee slates one.

Also, this chicanery is not limited to Democrats, as in Lake it is Republicans that try to get the Greens off the ballot, because their slating conventions don't meet Republican standards.

As I said in the Trib., this is a bipartisan problem caused by a legislature that no longer represents the people, but has found ways to stay entrenched. All sides and the judge said that the law was ambiguous, but at least one legislator was in favor of a result that would have left him without opposition.

  • I also see that no one pointed out that this was also racism by the Democrats, who are always so politically correct, as also indicated by the Dept. of Ag. flap yesterday. The pictures of Crenshaw look a lot darker than those of the other darling.
