Illinois Senate election: Giannoulias (D) 43%, Kirk (R) 41%

Pick your poison, I guess. Some interesting data in this Rasmussen poll on trust, etc.

  • I can see some lack of choice for some voters here but look at the legend of damage either of these two candidates has caused.Kirk comes with an expanded service record that was amended upon discovery and should be called out on plus his voting record.Giannoulias has a few serious issues also. His handling of the college accounts plus the bank he worked at and received a paycheck from but wasn't really involved with??? A debate on record and accomplishments are a must. The media should do their job but I'll wait and see. The political season opens for real after labor day.

  • The one thing interesting in this is that it says Illinois voters grade on a curve with 52% saying that Ginannoulias at least as ethical as most politicians, and Kirk 60%. If the standard of comparison is Geo. Ryan, Blago, Burris, Madigan, et. al, that isn't a high bar to hurdle.
