Labron James burnout

Is anyone else as worn down as I am by the speculation that NBA superstar Labron James is coming to play for the Chicago Bulls? Or that he's leaning toward Chicago? Or that Chicago is his top pick?

Come on, Chicago; we're supposed to be the savvy, gritty city that can recognize a scam when we see one. James is playing us and the other cities on the "short list" of his "favorites." He may or he may not come to Chicago. Good for us if he (and now Chris Bosh) land here. But, in the meantime, let's keep it zipped up until we get it in writing.

  • I'm glad someone in the local media has come out and said this. The whole LeBron James pipe dream is about as ridiculous as Chicago's "we've got it in the bag" Olympics bid.

How did that one work out for us again?

  • This whole "not until July 1 or 8" business is b.s. Either that, or the reporters who say they know are full of b.s., which again doesn't say much for journalism. But I tend to vote for the first.

Take for instance, that the Bears had a press conference on Day One announcing three signings. You know that the deals were negotiated before then and the press releases were released for the conference, also before then. Similarly, the Bulls weren't going to allow it to leak that they traded Hinrich, but effective July 8 unless they had other things in the works.

The only honest one here was Mully and Hanley getting the story that Detroit had given Hossa the o.k. to negotiate with the Hawks before his contract was technically up.

Of course, the real b.s. was the ESPN reporter saying that Wade met with the others in Miami, when others said that Wade was in Chicago. As the Grobber said, someone is lying. So we get back to the state of journalism, after all.

  • Uhhh..Dennis..It's spelled "LeBron" not Labron.
