Health Care Law 218: a primer

Read it and weep, courtesy of Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Ill.)

Washington,

-
Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Peter
Roskam (R-IL), Deputy Whip and Ways and Means Committee member,
announced open registration for a new educational course called
Healthcare 218: Intro to the Democrat Health Plan.  With 218 days
between now and November 2, 2010, Healthcare 218 will daily chronicle
the massive new costs, delays, hidden problems and bureaucratic hurdles
the recently passed healthcare legislation will impose on American
families.

In urging passage of
the Democrat health overhaul bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told the
American people, "we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what
is in it."

Roskam has risen to the challenge with a thorough-going analysis that will prepare you to duel with the uninformed Obama/Dem/Care backers who see it as the best that we can do. For those who think they know what is in the 2,000-page bill, the following is must reading.

Broken Promises

Democratic Leaders said repeatedly during the healthcare debate that insurance premiums for families would go down by $2,500.   Instead, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), 14.5 million families who purchase nongroup health coverage will face an average premium increase of $2,100.  The goal was lower costs, and Speaker Pelosi's healthcare legislation missed the mark.

The Republican Alternative would lower the average family's premiums by $1,050 a year
