Oh Come, all ye faithless

At the time of the winter solstice, let reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is just myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds.

Hymn sung by the faithful, from O Holy Night:

Truly, He taught us to love one another;

His law is love and His Gospel is peace.

Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother,

And in His Name all oppression shall cease.

Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,

Let all within us praise his Holy Name.

  • So long as governments decide that their grounds are public fora, the First Amendment protects nonbelievers and believers alike. Some people were not in favor the the public nativity scene until the Chabad said "we get a menorah, too." I'm sure that the Humanist Jews support the menorah, but also the expressions in the first quotation. In fact, you probably would say the last line of that quotation in response to radical Islam, and they would say it against the Crusaders.

    So, have a happy Boxing Day today and Wrestling Day tomorrow.

  • Dennis, how simple and sensible to remind us how strangely angry are our modern atheists...I have this feeling their arguments are far less constitutional than they are personal...this personal angst at watching others get something out of their faith...there's a name for that sort of resentment...I think it's GRINCH
