Anti-O'Hare uprising in Park Ridge?

When government does something that lowers your property values, can you seek compensation?

O'Hare's new northern runway (top) sends air traffic directly east, over parts on Park Ridge.

That's an interesting question being raised in Park Ridge, Ill. by residents who have seen their home values fall because of the city's decision to cave in to the expansion of O'Hare Airport. That resulted in the construction of a new northern runway at the airport that has increased noise and pollution over parts of Park Ridge.

If this becomes a suit, it should be quite interesting. Could it lead to full disclosure of how the forces of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley helped organize the election of a new slate of Park Ridge candidates that ousted a previously anti-expansion administration.

Here is the only story that I've seen on the subject.

  • Could your property values have gone down because of the economy not the airport? Don't quite see how having a better more updated airport makes your house value go down? where's the correlation here?
My house value went down over 10 percent and i am 20 miles from the Airport, who can i blame?

  • Don't bother bringing up things like "logic" when talking about NW Suburbanites.
