Jokers in the media just couldn't let it rest, resorting to ridicule and unfounded rumors in the wake of her decision to resign as governor of Alaska, possibly to prepare a presidential campaign.
"How sad that Washington and the media will never
understand; it's about country," the
statement says. "And though it's
honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher
calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for
some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make.
Notice all the hosannas that were issued when
Barack Obama decided to pursue a "higher calling," virtually abandoning
his full-time job as Illinois' U.S. senator. Wouldn't it have been more
honest of Obama to have resigned his senate seat so a replacement could
have given Illinois a full measure of
representation. Oh, that's right,
that's what got us Roland Burris.
Notice that her attorney warns that people who spread the rumor that
she resigned because she is under federal investigation could face
legal action for libel. This, of course, will enrage bloggers who
believe they can spread any garbage they want outside of the laws that
protect people's privacy and their reputation.
