Tamara Charles is helping young women find their voices

Its something how our struggles in life are the very thing that’s used to catapult us in to our destiny and purpose. I remember the days of watching the talk shows and yelling at the television saying, “Girl you are so stupid! Why would you stay in such an abusive relationship?” Until it was meaning in that lady shoes did I not understand how one felt to have their will broken. That’s why it was such a breath of fresh air meeting the amazing Tamara Charles. She is in overdrive helping young girls and women find their voices and redeem their times. Ms.Charles is a former victim of domestic violence abuse and sexual assault. And she is determined to make her pain pay her for all the hell she’s been through!

How long have you been in business?

Tamara: I’ve been in business since March 22, 2017. I had launched both my nonprofit organization Sisters In Charge, Inc. and my first memoir book called Unbroken, Still I Smile on March 22, 2017.

Why did you pick this particular field to do business in?

Tamara: As a sexual assault, three times domestic violence survivor and now living as a multiple sclerosis warrior, I wanted to be the voice for the voiceless. I want to let other women who are going through what I have gone through to never give up. They don’t have to be ashamed and know that they are not alone. It took me thirty-nine years to share with the world my experiences with sexual assault/ domestic violence. I was so bitter, depressed and at times felt like taking my life. But, I knewthere are victims and survivors that needs to hear my truth and survivorship. I want to show them if I can overcome all my trials and tribulations. They can do it too. The one thing that got me though everything was asking God for forgiveness. I had to learn to put God first in my life and everything else started to fall into place for me.

Tell us about a challenge you have had in business and how you have overcome it?

Tamara: The only challenge I’ve had in business is the lack of support from your friends and family members. I’ve learned that my vision is my vison and not everyone is there to see my vision or support it and that’s fine with me. I didn’t get mad or angry because I knew God had a better plan to remove the lack of supporters and doubters out of my life and replace it with the right supporters who believe in my mission and dream to be on my team. I will always continue to trust God’s process and his plan for me.

Why do you feel you have been as successful as you have in your business?

Tamara: What was one of your successes of the year?God said it was my time and my calling to be the voice for the voiceless. One of my successes was the premier of my documentary to my first book called ‘Unbroken, Still I Smile.” I never gave up even when there was time I wanted to give up. But, God said to me, you came too far to give up now. So I kept pushing and kept following his footsteps. God knows where my heart is and he will continue to guide me in the right direction. 2019 is my breakthrough and I’m ready to receive it all.

Why are you so compelled on seeing other women win BIG?

Tamara: I want to see all of us win. This is America. There’s so much money to be made. We don’t have to hate on each other or not support one another. I’m big on supporting other women. I feel like when they win, I win too. When I win, we all win.

So, what's next in 2019 for you?

Tamara: I am ready to explore my wings and go for what God have in store for me. I am working on my next book and our first annual women motivational brunch that will be happening in March of 2019. I am going on my first book tour and doing more speaking engagement and focus on my modeling career. Oh, I can’t forget about our fourth Annual Masquerade Gala fundraiser for domestic violence in October of 2019. I want it all in 2019 and in Jesus name, Amen!
