2013 NFL Mock Draft: Pre-Combine Edition

1. Kansas City Chiefs - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
The Chiefs' new coach, Andy Reid, will want to build an offense, but their front office will have a tough decision this summer. Both WR Dwayne Bowe and OT Branden Albert need a new contract, and the team can only franchise one of them. If they cannot pay Albert, replacing him with the top tackle in the draft makes sense.
It has been just over two weeks since our last mock draft, and there have been a number of developments that will impact the first round of the upcoming draft. For prospects, the news leading up to this week’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis has been mixed. Georgia’s inside linebacker Alec Ogletree, who I have had... Read more »

2013 NFL Mock Draft: Seventh Heaven

2013 NFL Mock Draft: Seventh Heaven
Over the course of the 2012 NFL season, we’ve spent time every couple weeks looking ahead to the 2013 NFL Draft. The order of selections changes on a weekly basis, with bad teams surprising us with wins (nice work, Cleveland) and once-good teams continuing a slide (ugh… Bears…). There has been a lot of movement with... Read more »

2012 NFL Mock Draft: 2 Weeks Out

2012 NFL Mock Draft: 2 Weeks Out
Way back before the Super Bowl, I took a long-shot at projecting the 2012 NFL Draft. Since then, trades have happened, players have been cut and signed, and Peyton Manning has replaced Tim Tebow. With all of that in mind, and now that we’re only two weeks away from the opening of the draft, let’s... Read more »

5 Year Rear View Mirror: Looking Back At Chicago's 2007 Drafts Part II
Over the coming days, we’re going to employ 20-20 hindsight and look back five years at how Chicago teams drafted in 2007. Five years is usually a good benchmark to look for quality and return on investment, so we’ll begin looking there. In the first piece of the series, we examined the 2007 Draft of the Chicago... Football is over. The Giants won the Super Bowl, and there is nothing to be excited about until at least the Draft, if not August when preseason practices start again… right? Well… maybe not. As I wrote about on Aug. 16, 2011, the coming calendar year will be one of change in the NFL, specifically... Read more »

Florida Becoming Chicago South!

Thumbnail image for 'Florida Becoming Chicago South!'
In what can only be described as a shocking move, a Chicago sports figure is moving to Florida. The Chicago Cubs reportedly traded Carlos Zambrano to the Miami Marlins (with approximately $15M) in exchange for Chris Volstad. Volstad’s numbers were mediocre last year, similar in many ways to Zambrano’s in Chicago… but he isn’t loco... Read more »
