Chicago Blackhawks Bring Back Kris Versteeg

After Thursday night's game, the Blackhawks made a lot of fans of the 2010 Cup team happy.

The Blackhawks announced they have acquired forward Kris Versteeg and forward Philippe Lefebvre is exchange for prospects Jimmy Hayes and Dylan Olsen.

According to reports, the Panthers will be paying half of Versteeg's salary as part of the trade.

Versteeg, 27, has two goals and five assists in 18 games with the Panthers this season. He is signed through the 2015-16 season with a $4.4 cap hit.

"We are excited to bring Kris back to Chicago and are pleased to add a player with his experience and versatility to our lineup," said Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman. "Kris is well respected within our organization and will be able to make a seamless transition to our team because of his familiarity with many of our players and with Coach Quenneville. This move strengthens our team depth and Kris' skill is a great complement to our current roster."

Jeremy Morin and Alex Broadhurst were sent to Rockford after the Versteeg deal was announced.
