The Chicago Cubs have reportedly won something!
According to everyone a baseball fan should trust for information, the Cubs have won the bidding on 19-year-old Cuban outfield prospect Jorge Soler. Reports are indicating the deal is nine years in length and totals around $30M.
Because I know more about Cuban cigars than Soler, I'll refer you to the work of an expert on the matter.
ESPN's Keith Law wrote: "[Soler] can show you four-plus tools, and there's enough bat speed and hand strength for him to end up with all five. He has All-Star potential for the Cubs if they're patient enough to wait the 2-3 years he'll take in an optimistic scenario before he is big-league ready."
Law continued: "Had Soler been in this year's draft, he would probably have been a top-five pick on merit, definitely top 10."
