Chicago Blackhawks: 6 Competing in World Championships

Six members of the Chicago Blackhawks will represent three different countries in the IIHF World Championships. The tournament officially begins on May 4.

Marcus Kruger and Viktor Stalberg will join Niklas Hjalmarsson for Sweden. Michael Frolik will represent the Czech Republic. And Patrick Sharp and Duncan Keith will play for Canada.

This year, all 64 games of the World Championships tournament will be available via live steam on Youtube. For more information about the exclusive Youtube channel, click here.

Also, NBC Sports Network will televise all of the USA's games in the tournament, as well as the tournament's quarterfinals, semi-finals and medal round games.

The tournament playoffs begin with quarterfinal match-ups on Thursday, May 17. The semi-finals will take place on Saturday, May 19. And the medal games will both take place on Sunday, May 20.

Sharp was named an alternate captain for Canada, and will honor injured teammate Marian Hossa by wearing his birth year (and Hossa’s Blackhawks number) 81 in the tournament.

If Canada wins gold, Keith will join Jonathan Toews in the exclusive Triple Gold Club (Olympic and World Championship golds and Stanley Cup).
