On Sunday evening, the New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts in a fantastic Super Bowl worthy of historical recognition. Drew Brees played an exceptional game, out-dueling Peyton Manning and writing his name into the record books of the NFL.
But as a Cubs fan, it just doesn't get much worse...
Consider, if you will, the last decade in the life of a Cubs fan. I'm not going to bring up the stinging names of Bartman, Baker or Sosa more than once, but will simply defer my pain to the slide show that follows.
In the last ten years, the team history hates has seen almost every other "cursed" franchise break through and at least make it to the championship round, if not win the hardware. And yet the Cubs, for all their attempts to build a team through big ticket trades and huge spending sprees, can't get over the hump. Still, 1945 is the last time the Cubs played in the World Series.
When, spirits of sporting mojo, will the Cubs have their day in the sun?
