The was not an All Pro Free Safety-ish introduction into the new thread MB. You're slipping buddy.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

I know trac, I came, I saw, I have the kids this weekend so I was tired after a long week and trying to convince two kids to eat their dinner, bath, and then go to sleep after story reading/cuddle time.

I kinda just stuck a flag in the ground and went to sleep, but point taken... As my HS coach used to yell and spit into your face while grabbing yanking and shaking your facemask, "excuses are like assholes MB!!! Everyone's got one, and they all stink like she-it boy!"

  • In reply to MB30SD:

My dad used to give me the same speech. Has anyone noticed that such pep talks seem to have the opposite effect on women?

And how when your wife/g.f. has a problem and you try to share your wisdom/inspire/help they just get more pissed, but then the next day they'll share some wonderful advice that their best friend shared with them that really made their day even though it was the exact same advice you try to give them? I mean, WTF? Do I have to grow a split-tail to be heard and not berated?

  • sadly, yes my doctor... yes.

I remember that stuff. It had to come from ANYONE but me in order to be taken to heart. just smh.

  • That is spot on.

  • In reply to Cormonster:

It is better for a man to sleep on the corner of his roof than to live in the house with a contentious women.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Get back in your box and cook me some meth bitch.

  • And now, a word from our sponsor...
    His commentary makes one queasy,
and very often the listener pukes.
Knowing whom I mean is easy,
    the NFL Network's, Jamie Dukes.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Love it!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Dukes is ridiculously bad. Fuck jyeah, Al.

  • I'm bookmarking that last thread - that was quintessential DBB.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

That last Canada post was strong.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Why? What happened? I just woke up after being asleep for two days. Crazy dreams. I dreamt that tall blond aliens came in through my window. Weird.

    My bottom hurts.

  • Speaking of rants, this is old news but I cannot let it pass, Blogfather....

"Dan Patrick is as good as it gets when it comes to national media perspective."

    Could not disagree more.

Yes, Matt Harvey was an AWFUL "interview" doing his Qualcom plug and nothing else.

But Harvey is just a young jock who didn't know any better and to HIS credit, he DID come on the next day and apologize. Profusely.

On the other hand, Dan Patrick, the supposed "broadcast professional" in that equation, behaved like like an 8-year old who had his candy taken away from him and proceeded to WHINE incessantly about the Harvey "interview". I can only ASSUME he whined for the rest of his show that day because after a few minutes I could no longer stand it and tuned out.

I fail to see what part of ...

regularly crying about "The Mothership" like a jilted lover,

shilling for bad Adam Sandler films (and I admit that phrase is redundant unto itself),

allowing "buddy" ignoramuses like Warren (the) Sapp to come on his show and go unchallenged while calling Brandon Marshall "retarded" .

continually subjecting his staffers to verbal
(SOME of it's joking, but some of it is downright mean spirited) and physical abuse (Let's see YOU get into a UFC cage & go few minutes with Jay Glazer, Danny boy),

shamelessly fawning over supermodels young enough to be his GRANDDAUGHTERS

gives Dan any "national media perspective."

You can keep about 95% of his "above the noise" commentaries as mostly gaseous emissions, too.

Dan's not "above" the noise, boys and girls.

    He's PART of the noise.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Well said, Al.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I don't listen to his show but I know what you say is true. He's always been that way. When Patrick and Olbermann were doing SC together years ago it was new, fresh and funny. Unfortunately they became bigger than the show (not unlike Berman). Now we know way too much about Patrick and Olbermann and we aren't better for it. Not to mention, ever since they were together, almost all the other sports talking heads have used the same template. Now most of us wish for the old days when talking heads just delivered the sports and saved their comedy routines and opinions to themselves.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

You are the only one I know in the world who doesn't think DP handled the Harvey situation brilliantly. The show made the aftermath of an embarrassing interview the most entertaining hour of the week.

    1. He's never cried about the mothership as a jilted lover. He quit ESPN, they didn't fire him. And I think all his criticisms of ESPN are justified as it's a completely shit network. Somebody should be calling them for their ridiculousness.

    2. He is IN the bad Sandler films. Why wouldn't he promote them?

    3. The Sapp/Brandon Marshall thing was horrendous but DP actually berated Sapp on air for several minutes directly after the interview. I put the response on this site when it happened.

    4. Berating and abusing the Danettes? Seriously? You think they are complaining whilst becoming celebrities and cashing six-figure paychecks?

    5. Yea, super models are only attractive to young people. And his target audience of men 18-49 (the only demographic that matters) HATE attractive women.

Dan isn't a perfect broadcaster by any means but his show avoids the ESPN First Take-yell something inane to make it a story approach that permeates the popular world of sports broadcasting. He is also continually out front on legitimate stories - nobody else has touched the role of HGH on the concussion - and makes his callers cast members in a legitimate discussion.

  • In reply to Jeff Hughes:

Jeff, What do you think about Wormholes, Tall White Aliens & Jesus?

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

    Yeah, Jeff....What?

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

Hi Wormholes yea no Aliens Christ lives man

    frank deleo

  • In reply to Jeff Hughes:

We are sooo going to disagree.

I stand by my points and if you think whining like a child is a good way to handle a bad interview I'm disappointed.

    1) SOO not true. He REGULARLY whines about "the mothership" and he "quit' because they didn't offer him a raise and it just KILLS him that when he DID leave, they didn't say "oh,please stay, Danny.' Having his minions do Howard Stern-like ambushes on ESPN's Game Day 2 seasons ago was totally bush league nomatter what you think of ESPN and Game Day and if the same had been done to him he'd have had a conniption. THEN he can figure out why the 4-letter gives him the cold shoulder? Really? And no, I am not defending the 4-Letter.

    2) Yeah, he's in'em. They still suck.
If you like them I'll concede this point.

    3) Yeah, right. AFTER the interview. The Chickenshit Anchor Rebuttal Process where he doesn't have confront directly. "So long, Warren, see you at the bar!" He should have shoved in back in Sapp's fat face as soon as it was uttered.

    4) Oh. Good pay. Well, THAT makes it OK, I guess.

I repeat: Let's see Danny go 3 minutes with Jay Glazer, otherwise he can shaddap with that kind of nonsense.

    5) Incredibly weak response here. Feel free not to put words in my mouth. I never said they weren't attractive or should be hated by anyone. He can play to his target demo without the "dirty old man" routine, which is lame AND sad.

As for his "being out front", he happily makes himself sound like he's the ONLY person taking a said position when it is NOT nearly the case as often as he'd have his audience believe. He's very big on Pride of Authorship.

Other than that, I think you may have a point. I think it was point #2.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

BTW, I think you can now ADD a couple of more people you know who don't
"..think DP handled the Harvey situation brilliantly."

  • lol...I just gotta retype this from the last thread.

    Classic Irish.

    "You're thinking like a human."

Yeah, stop thinking like a human guys!

    Keep the stories rolling, Irish.

I've already watched all the Star Treks and X-files and need a new source of good interstellar conspiratorial intrigue.

    I'm serious.

And watch out for them anal probes. I imagine the anal probes in Thailand are something wicked.

  • I liked this from Waffle :

"usually the guys that say they are the guys that knock are in fact the guys that absolutely do not knock and would never knock because they would get knocked out."

  • Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis or Coast to Coast on radio or podcast are loaded with conspiracy theories and alien or supernatural phenomenon.

  • Sayers sued the league on Friday for memory loss. I guess he's off the hook for all those rants now. Show me da money!

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

Interestingly, he didn't forget who to sue.

  • The Steelers suck. No worries guys, it's impossible for a 19-0 team to lose. I love you Jeffrey!

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

I don't see how the bookies have the Steelers so close to us in the spread. Within a FG?

  • Yup. They will not get off their bad news bears Schlick until our Boys are 5 or 6 and 0.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

Trac, the media will turn on Jay after the first loss. Jay knows this and that is why he won't ever be buddy buddy with them. They've cut his throat for 4 years while disregarding the factors that led to defeats.
Other QB's get the benefit of the doubt first. Not Jay.

  • In reply to Waffle:

I'm pretty sure the Philly media gave McNabb a mountain of shit while he was there (not to mention Vick). Same with Eli before winning the SB. Also, Cutler was more expensive than a 1st rounder and had a couple of seasons under his belt so the expectations were higher. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you about the Chicago media (oddly enough, ESPN's Chicago site, along with Biggsy are the most fair about Cutler). If he wins it all or dies on his sword in a SB loss, the Chicago media will fall in line. They are just giving the mouth breathers what they want. Really sucks.

So far, so good with Trestman/Cutler. I'm about 95% on resigning him long term. Have to see how things go when the wheels come off the cart. If things are handled professionally, I'm 100% in.

I'm also not 100% on Emery yet. Have to see what the team looks like next year. His first draft was so underwhelming I've really been hesitant to jump on the train. No doubt he's better than JA but that's setting the bar way too low. I'm really happy with the team so far but we could still end up missing the playoffs this year. Can't wait til tomorrow night!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

it's just frustrating. Eli throws 4 picks the other night and they don't even show the highlights from the game. Vick lost the game for the Eagles and the narrative post game is that the D coordinator for the other team had the best scheme ever....

I'm going to try never to watch the NFL Network ever again.

  • In reply to Waffle:

I don't hate the NFL network. Disappointed is more like it. I like the historical stuff and the Thursday game is OK as long as it's a decent game but everything else is hooey. Michael Irvin is my least favorite talking head. Deion is in the same conversation but at least he's amusing once in a while. Sapp lives up to his name. Mooch adds almost nothing. It's too bad because Rich Eisen does a great job. He keeps things moving and has a good sense of humor. Of all the pre-game shows I think Eisen is the best host/moderator.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

I too like Rich Eisen, too, Canada (Even when he's on with Dan Patrick - rimshot!

    Irvin and Sapp.

What a downer of a daily double.

Irvin can occassionally bring something to the table but I bet if Sapp does ANY preparation at all its at the buffet line in the commissary.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Speaking of Philly media, anyoe else get the impression that Andy Reid didn't really want to have anything to do with with Sal Palantonio at the end of Thursday's game and did NOT at all appreciate "Sal Pal" trying to block his path as he attempted to exit the field?

Sal Pal. Just another reason to dislike the 4-Letter.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

    Same for the Chiefs.

  • The bookies are not predicting who wins, they are just influencing where the money is bet.

  • Well done everyone. Yesterday was a great day on the blog. Irish posts stuff all the time that I don't agree with but I always admire people with a new take on things. Out of the box to say the least. Any other blog would have descended into madness and unpleasantness yesterday. This group revels in it. Gotta love that!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Yes, you all put it up with it very nicely, thank you. I will respect the blog and not post little green men videos will nilly (because they're tall and white) - I was just very shaken after the things I'd heard yesterday
Do have a look at the Charles J Hall video regardless of your opinion on visitors though, that is an awful lot of specific lying if one does not accept the existence of visitors, and a mind-blower if you do. The U.S. military harboring and protecting another more technologically-advanced species in Nevada?

  • In case anyone missed, is doing an 11 part piece on the 1963 championship bears. I thought a few of our old timers (no offense Al, Canada, Murph) might be interested in reading them and supplementing them with memories of their own. I found the first two very interesting.

  • Thanks for linking it! I would have missed it for sure. I almost never go on that site. I think it's due to a severe reaction to Larry Mayer.

  • Good read. Chet Coppock had a nightly show on radio that I used to enjoy covering all sports topics.

  • Thank you , Doc!

  • I have the Highlight reel DVDfrom '63, narrated by Jack, which also includes COLOR highlights of the '63 Championship game but I THINK they are selling the season highlights and the color title game highlights separately now.

    Here's where to find them...

  • Currently, Sterling Sharpe is on air making excuses for Tom Brady's poor body language....on NFL Network.

  • I wonder what the r burgers body language will be Sunday Nite? He he.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

Probably "forceful" and not wanted. Lol

  • In reply to burntorangenavyblue:

  • What a shock!

  • Even BRADY isn't making excuses for it. He apologized for it this week.

  • Hopefully Cutler will be able to break the "wall" that is 1) a night game and 2) national game. I think that this Trestman offense will definitely help Jay shine. Forte will carry the bulk of the offensive load....but please, please, please use Bush on goal-line situations!

What concerns me is that the D needs to step up their game. If they don't show up tomorrow night, the media (picks and chooses their headline for the Bears as always) will rip apart the almost ineffective d-line and questionable coverage unit.

Hester has been one to shine on the national stage and I think that from last week's game, he knows that all eyes will be on him to bring one to the house. The best returns have been during nationally televised games. Light em' up Skunk!

  • In reply to burntorangenavyblue:

"Night" and "National Game" walls have nothing to do with Cutler. It has everythingg to do with the quality of opponent vs the quality of the Bears team and scheme.

It's different this year because we're not handicapped with average to below average personnel in key positions, shitty, inadequate scheme, etc.

  • In reply to Waffle:

i agree with your thoughts on Trestman, Forte and Bush. I also Hester brings the heat.

    Season of Destiny

  • In reply to Waffle:

And, more often than not, the game is a roadie for the Bears.

  • In reply to burntorangenavyblue:

The only nationally televised night game I remember us winning recently was against the Cowboys, and I fully expect the Steelers to be a worse team.

I just can't remember a team so anemic on offense. I mean, the Steelers have no real threat (outside an inconsistent Immanuel Sanders).

I mean, usually teams trot out at least ONE playmaker (unless you're the Jags or Browns), but this Steelers offense is pretty mundane. The scheme also seems like a bad fit for Big Ben. And to top it off, their Oline stinks. All this adds up to the Steelers being 31st in 3rd down conversions, but luckily for them, we now suck at pass rush, so we'll see who goes lower.

Jay just has to be careful with those safeties, as I mentioned in my preview, here

(See how I did that? That's a transition Magic Johnson would be proud of)

  • Roy's back!

    Conan O'Brien reviews GTA 5.

Conan is not a gamer. Nice graphics though.

  • Wow, the Cincy game is on YT, download it quick.

Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless discuss the confidence of Bears QB Jay Cutler and his late-game heroics. Heated. And apparently Jay threw a pick 6?? He's not a winner? Who is this dick?

  • they are both complete dbags. Fucking hot air balloons maings.

  • Yo, thanks for the link. Hopefully that dude puts up the Vikings game before the Nazis get him.

One little detail I noticed that I hadn't before in that Bengals. In the late 4rth quarter, on a crucial 3rd and 7, the Bears used a time out.

However, Cutler wasn't swearing and muttering about it.

In fact, quite the opposite. Cutler told Garza something and they both were smiling and I think chuckling.

Have no idea what Cutler told him, but it's obvious that Cutler's keeping them loose in the huddle even when games are on the line.

That's probably what Long was referring to when he said Jay is ice cold.

Speaking of ice cold, it's beer time.

  • Bucs released Hillis. I'd love the Bears to take flier on him.

  • The Hon. Paul Hellyer, Canadian Minister for defense. Do we consider him a nut?

In May 2013 he called for the disclosure of the Tall Whites residing in Indian Springs, and calls out the NWO Cabal of the Bilderburgers, the Council for Foreign Relations, the Tri-lateral commission, the oil cartel and the International banking conglomerate. How the hell does this get buried?

    I have a new hero.

Does it have to be Obama that comes clean before people accept this stuff?

  • Hey Irish, it sounds like it's going to be a really interesting movie. Do you know when it's gonna come out?

  • That was very interesting.

  • I don't think he's been Minister of Defense since the mid-60's.
He's really, really, really, really, really old, Irish.
Like, 90...and I'm not saying he's senile. But at 90, the value of your opinion on the presence of ETs in the US government is sort of on a down hill slide.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Point taken,I don't feel so chipper myself and I'm only 41. But he's not just some douche off the street, y'know what I mean? And when you're younger and in the flow of your career, it's a wise thing to go around blowing whistles unless you don't care about having a career. When these guys get older they reckon "what the fuck?: and they give up the goods because they've seen through all the bullshit and they're facing their own mortality.

Anyway, in the interests of fairness here's the good prof's response to the Hellyer thing:

Many thanks for the links. Yes, I am aware of the former Canadian Defense Minister's revelations (and watched this video a while ago) but... in my humble opinion, there is something kind of wining if not a touch of 'wailing over the dead' to his speech. You cannot shake off the impression (please don't judge me too strict) that this (no doubt, respected) guy was in some way deprived (literally or figuratively) of his favorite toy and thus would opt for such a freaky revenge.
As for any kind of (the human) collaboration, co-operation and/or other 'co-something' with aliens, extraterrestrials, ghosts, and other denizens of devildom :) , I don't believe it. Can you collaborate with dogs? No. You may want to attempt at taming them, playing with them, experimenting on them. You can even take care of them (culling the weakest, oldest and unsound) for ages. The trick is that there is only one-way traffic. Your pet cannot ask you out on a date because it does not know what it is in principle and they cannot make an order as to what you should serve them for the next breakfast. The best they can is to expect (and wait, if trained enough) for the mercy of the benefactor they've chosen to submit themselves to and further accept or deny the offerings.
Our perception of the paranormal is like that of a fly on TV screen ablaze with tons of color dots. The phenomenon may evoke many feeling and/or sharpen our senses but we will never be able to catch up with the screenplay.

Damn, I can't even get my own source on board!

  • Andy Reid took it to Sal Palantonio after the Chiefs victory over the Eagles.

  • In reply to Cormonster:

Dude, refresh your browser, I've just blown the nay-sayers out of the water.

  • Bag nammit, I didn't see Al's post above. I'm not an alien believer Irish, but I enjoy listening to some of those types of radio shows when I'm up late.

  • In reply to Cormonster:

    Yeah, me too.

I checked out those links Irish put up and the coast to coast, and they're a blast to listen to.

A lot of the folks sound sane enough, but their stories are outlandish, like that one guy who worked on "Area 54".

It might just be crazy enough to be true. Was it Wilde who said if you're going to lie, lie big?

I just thought it funny that the 'tall white ones' were very legalstic.

My first impression was, "Great, just what we need - more lawyers in the universe."

  • lol

  • Coast to Coast was way better when Art Bell was the host. I loved his show when doing snow removal in the middle of the night. He would give credence to every caller regarding ufo sightings or being abducted by aliens until he questioned them like a lawyer. Then he would basically call bullshit to some callers and believe others and be fascinated, wanting those to expand on their stories.

Clyde Lewis and his show Ground Zero is the best one now. You can listen to all of his old shows online or download. Irish, you should check out this radio show. Lots of good stuff regarding aliens and gov't conspiracies.

  • In reply to Cormonster:

Then you will be happy to hear that Art Bell is soon returning to the airwaves on Sirius.

  • In reply to Cormonster:

    You pay them $7 a month ??

  • Clyde Lewis Ground Zero is free.

  • No. I'm on a 6 mos. free trial.

And I believe they want 14 or 15 a month now.

  • Thanks for the link irish.

I just finished watching the entire game against the bengals. Few thoughts:

    * AJ green is a fucking animal. Dalton ain't bad either, reminds me of cutty a bit.

    * Man has burfict turned it around in what, 2 years. Good player, and seems to have his shit together on the field. He didn't take the bait in that little skirmish on the sidelines for one second.

    Now onto us...

    - The good:
    * The black uni is a beast
    * The Beast is an absolute beast
    * Cutty looking good, but needs to continue working to clean up some stuff
    * Love kyle long who is alway the first guys going crazy and jumping all over guys when something good happens. exciting to see that in a rook... as well as his mauling people
    * Anderson is also a beast... as is briggsy, but we knew that
    * Paea is the only one on the dline really beating the shit outta guys and getting major penetration, but he can't do it alone

    * Peanut is the man... he did amazing;y well against green

    - The bad/not that great
    * Matt forte. not impressed. at all. Common matty, they're making holes for you man. do it.
    * TimmyJ. not great on an island, but he's a ball hawk on the shit and has a nose for fumbles. I would love him at nickle and to get a richard sherman-type opposite the nut
    * Still not impressed by either of our safeties. They're.... there... just hardly ever hear their names called. And no, that's not always good.

Hester... LOOKED to be running hard without hesitation in the, what, 3 times he took it. Will be watching him HARD this weekend.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

btw, HD youtube on my ipad to appletv on my 70"... so fucking awesome.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Which link MB? The Bengals game or the tall whites?

By the way, if the tall whites really were working with the our government, how come they don't have a politically correct name? I mean, if congress wants to change the name of the Redskins, what right do they have to call the aliens "Tall whites". I know a few tall women that are very self conscious of their height.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

the non-height challenged no color of skined ones?

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

I heard tell of a race of visitors called the Short Black Fatties, who tend to be sighted near fried chicken stands and conversing in ebonics .. but you can't believe everything you read.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Credit where credit is due.

I thought Burfect would be a train wreck.

Apparently going from a possible first or second round pick to UNDRAFTED struck a chord with him. To his credit.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

indeed al. very much not the rule in the football world. good for him.

  • Hahahahahahahaha...

  • Shady, there. you. go.

    I'm getting this one:

  • i need this dog:

  • shaaaaaaady:

  • don't know about you guys, but sometimes radical islam ain't all that bad

  • Sayers just remembered he didn't have to sue the league to get money. I guess he is suffering from short term memory loss. What a tool.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

It sounds like someone filed the lawsuit on his behalf without his consent. Not sure that makes you a tool. Also, Sayers gave his all to the Bears. They gave him terrible medical advice and butchered his knee in return. If any players have a reason to sue the NFL/Bears over terrible medical advice and care it would be Sayers and Butkus. Not sure how many concussions either man suffered playing for the Bears but I'm guessing the medical staff basically told them to rub some dirt on it and get back out there.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Wow, that was my HS programs medical program as well! Strange.
