Bostic Fined $21K for Completely Legal "Form Tackle"

Bostic Fined $21K for Completely Legal "Form Tackle"

Form tackle.

That is how Trent Dilfer described Jon Bostic's massive hit on Mike Willie from the second meaningless game. The NFL lauded the hit on their website and subsequently send an envelope to the locker room, fining the rookie $21,000.

You decide.

  • First to say bullshit...

  • Maybe they're fining him for the taunt afterwards. Not a good thing if it's for the hit because it sets a precedent and puts him on the fast track to get suspended if he lays a wallop on someone else.

  • In reply to nolebron:

No, they fined him for the hit.

  • In reply to nolebron:

Didn't look like a taunt to me. I don't know what he said, but the body language looked more like "good hit man." That play is two athletes competing, one of them getting the win on a play, and then a pat on the back at the end.

Mike Willie should get up and ask for the ball so he can try to run right into Bostic first chance he gets.

  • I would love to know the reasoning behind this fine. A completely legal hit. It was a great hit but the receiver was falling away from Bostic and that always makes it look worse than it was. Briggs' hit on Megatron was harder than that one and it didn't draw a fine. Although it did draw a bullshit penalty. The league should be honest and just come out and say no more hard hits. Hopefully Bostic's appeal will help reduce the fine. Although as far as I'm concerned there should be no fine for a legal hit. Fuck Me!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    uhhh canada... mybrother...

    1. the dude wasn't falling anywhere until bostic violently changed his trajectory. dude was running up field and he just got fucking blasted.

    2. No way in god's name was 55's hit harder than that one. I love that hit and loves me some 55, but uhhhh... no.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Maybe you should watch it again. The SD WR is clearly going away from Bostic when he got tattooed. Megatron was coming right at Briggs.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

I have... he was turning up field. not sure what you are seeing, but I think we can both agree he got lit up.

  • and here we go....the "Hate" on the Bears "D"...and we are not even into the season...Wow! is there a defined "true" tackle that the NFL can show us.

  • In reply to lobotobear:

well because according to the NFL "...BOOMBOSTC'S" wasn't one...isn't thats why he got fined?

  • Roger is doing his best to ruin the best sport out there. All this is getting ridiculous! Fines for legal hits, fines for this fines for that. Seriously lets go to flag football and get it over with. The next step will be you cant rush the passer for 3 seconds, that will let the linemen get set up and give the QB a chance to throw. This is getting nuts! It's part of why we watch, the big hit!

  • WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!?!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • I hope the vets chip in and pay this BS fine for him. I dont want him running around out there gunshy.

  • Mel Tucker I'm sure went up to Bostic after that fine was delivered, pulled the envelope out of his hand, and said "here, let me pick up the check on this one."

  • In reply to gpldan:

    let's hope.

  • This is bullshit of the highest order. They're saying "that was a good hit, but we don't want people doing that all the time". Well yes we do. I thought "great" when I saw that hit. Haven't seen a decent hit for a while .. .and they fine him for doing his job. Should have handed him an award. Butkus tackle of the week. There's your winner. Bullshit. Bolloxology. Titwank.

  • Wow....I am worried about what is to come from here on out with this decision. The fact that it took 3 days to make this ruling makes you think that they initially weren't going to do anything about this and someone bitched and bitched about it. This was a legal hit and the ref was standing right there. Bostic needs to appeal and somone from the rule committe and player's union need to sit down NOW and figure out what the hell is the definition of a proper tackle is! Or else it is going to be a long season of fines, confusion, debates and suspension.....

  • GP, here's your normally aspirated sugar for the morning. Enjoy.

  • Oh wait, watch it a few times from the near-side angle. He buried his helmet into Wylie's. My bad.

  • in other shocking news:

    1. Those three fucking sacks of shit should just be killed right now. one bullet each. done.

    2. Everyone should boycott OK. Place is such a shithole.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Line them up side by side, just use the one bullet. Through and through.

  • In reply to Scharfinator:

    I'm in.

Can they torture them a bit first? Maybe the car battery to the nuts treatment for a few hours first? Maybe a little syriana?

    Fucking scum.

  • Great hit, Rook!

    Fuck you, Goodell!

  • I am hearing that with Homer Simpson's voice, haha.

  • The thing that pisses me off about these rules trying to promote player safety is that no one forces anyone at the pro level to be playing. This game is inherently dangerous and rough....isn't that why this game was invented the way it is? Can anyone who don't live in USA give me feedback on how international sports handle rules regarding player safety and if those leagues do anything with player's retirement/healthcare? Can't imagine rugby ever resorting to changing their rules that would make their sport NOT rugby, lol

  • In reply to burntorangenavyblue:

American's like a good scam b.o. The league doesn't trust the court rooms and the ex players love the money.

    Go BEARS LOL #16

There you go, jackass, or did you want me to post some CNN article on Oreos?

I posted a Grantland article yesterday but no fucks were given.

  • In reply to Shady:

    oreos please.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

See if you can decode the abbreviation, that should keep you entertained.

  • In reply to Shady:

    We are not entertained.

  • In reply to Shady:

igorously shaking my fucking head fucking son of a bitch fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck roger goodell fuck that piece of shit mother fucker.

    36 seconds.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Oooh, I'm sorry, the answer we were looking for was:

"Vigorously shaking my fucking head fucking son of a bitch fucking fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck fucking roger goodell fuck that piece of shit mother fucker."

"Nanaju hatchi ju hatchi" would have also been acceptable.

  • In reply to Shady:

fucking hilarious... and so so racist.

If you're not cracking up at this, you're dead.

Also, for those who don't know Ernesto Hoost was a Dutch K1 kickboxing champ in japan for many years. Hilarious

  • Now the NFL is just being ridiculous.

    What's next?

    The pass rush countdown?

    "Hike!. One-one-thousand, two-one-thousand, three-one-thousand..."

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Ha! My guess is we'll see the league resembling touch or flag football sooner than later. Funny how lawsuits change everything. This problem is certainly not unique to the NFL.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I have no idea how this could be a fine. Legal hit, no flag, the guy didn't get hurt (he scored 2 TD's later in the game). I'm pretty sure Dustin Keller (Miami's game last week) would have preferred getting blown up vs having his knee destroyed. CRAZY!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Al, common... it's alligators or Mississippis.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

We used one-one-thousand back in medieval times in Oak Park. Either at Mills or Maple Parks.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Yeah, we used it too. Decrepit old bastards are we!

  • In reply to SC Dave:

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    Really, Canada?

I'd have thought you'd have used,

    "One-one-thousand , eh? Tow-one-thousand,. Eh?"

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

It takes too long Al. Oddly enough I was born and raised in Iowa along the Mississippi River and never used the 1 Mississippi.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

that's because you Iowonians (Iowites? Iowans?) are honest. we played by the 1 Mississippi rule, but it always got sped up to "1 Missippy"

  • I understand why the fine. Even though the receiver instinctively lowered his head to protect himself, that technically was a helmet to helmet hit by Bostic. This is today's NFL! Blame the thousands of players trying to collect disability checks.

I watched it over and over again and sure enough, that fine falls in line with the rulebook.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

It wasn't helmet to helmet. Bostic forcibly used the crown of his helmet to make a tackle which is now illegal. Not a helmet to helmet.

  • In reply to Shady:

Shades of grey Shadey. he he.

  • In reply to Shady:

I agree with your assessment. And as you say, using the crown to make a tackle (to *initiate* a tackle?) illegal, so the fine is per the rules.

  • In reply to Shady:

Shades mang, check out the reverse angle and watch it over. He must have have given him quite a shot helmet to helmet it happens really quickly. You have to watch it over and over, like ...
    (switches to Jesse Pinkman voice)
.... the video of that Tomahawk missile going into the Pentagon. BITCH!

  • ok, last one, promise.

Dude's entire helmet hits bostic's shoulderpads maings. look where bostics head/helmet is in the pic below. it's almost impossible that this is a H/H hit.

I wouldn't be so adamant if the hit wasn't SUCH an incredibly perfect example of a textbook perfect, legal hit.

I won't argue any more, I've stated my case.... this isn't an illegal H/H hit, it's the league trying to set an example with the best/most notable biggest hit as early in the year as possible.

    i.e., it's alllllll politics.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

no way was that a helmet to helmet hit trac.

Stronger bifocals my maingses. ; ))

you can't not have your helmet contact the other player, since it's, you know... covering your head. He hit the guy in the chest. It was a textbook, perfectly executed legal hit. Period.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I promise I see Bostic's helmet making contact with the WR's helmet first as Willy lowers his head to brace for the oncoming shit storm.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

I remember seeing what you suggest, although he may have contacted the chest piece first. But bottom line is it does not matter, because you cannot hit anyone ANYWHERE if you're leading with the crown of your helmet.

If the goal is to protect v. concussions, the tackler should be protected too, no?

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

I concur, Brother Trac. It is clearly so.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

in fact here's the pic from above:

We really need the same pic from the other side, but bostic's helmet is no where to be seen in that shot. All shoulder pads baby.

The league clearly used the best/hardest hit of the preseason to send a message to everyone that they better fucking watch their shit.... and in the process fucked that kid out of a shitload of money and robbed him of the accolades he deserves for hitting 100% correctly. Sucks.

Can you image how dead major wright would be right now if that had been him? He would have snapped both of his necks.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Yeah but that was a split second after first contact.

    Just found this:

"A replay of the tackle shows some helmet-to-helmet contact, but Bostic wraps his arms and delivers a tackle that officials didn't flag. The league clearly believes the play warranted a penalty."

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

not interested in what the league thinks since it has an agenda trac.

The official who was right there and my own very official review found it to be a perfectly legal hit... and that's all that should matter.... really.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Man, I'm right there with you, just sayin that I know why they did what they did. We get to remember and say we actually got to witness football as she was supposed to be played. Alas, the game, she is a changing!

As much as I hate that dope Namath, I think he was onto something when I heard him talking about the new bs rules when he speculated that football would be either non recognizable or a non contact sport by the year 2023.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

It's shown on most highlights MB, the first angle twice, and then the reverse angle. About 30 seconds in.

  • Just got the "administrator message check" bs. What a joke. I don't think I've ever not seen my comment post after being given the once over. Anyone here ever get their post rejected?

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

Not me Trac. In the last month or two, almost every comment I post gets the administrator's msg. Maybe Jeff should spend more time working on the new site and less time posting about "meaningless" games.

Yeah but did you see how much they pay for them? They're not going to give them up, just share them. The NFL wants more $$$.

  • All in.

  • love that show.

  • trac, dave....

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Lance Briggs' opinion on the matter is no better than ours. Seriously.

The bottom line is the rule says you cannot lead with the crown of your helmet, *regardless* of where you hit somebody.

While we may not all agree on the particulars of Bostic's tackle, I think we can all definitely agree that the NFL has handled this very poorly. If they were going to fine him it should have happened that day. And I also think the fine for a first-time offense for a rookie is a little high.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

This ain't the good ole days anymore MB. Times are a changin!

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

I'm still stuk here my man (I'm getting fucking old):

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Is Briggs implying that the Bears D will now go low?

That would be ominous for the opposition.

If I were a WR and new I was going to get speared in the knee like Keller, I wouldn't be running any slants anytime soon.

  • wow, amazing:

  • Someone, not me, had a great idea.

Fine the QBs for setting receivers up to get hit like that.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

sadly Al, i'm sure some genius probably already has thrown out shitty ridiculous ideas like :

    1. ban zone defense
    2. outlaw crossing routes within 10 yards of the tackle box
    3. ban safeties from lining up deep so they can come up to make a hit.
    4. institute a "catch radius" so a defender can't hit a WR until they've "made a football move"

Believe me, if i can think of these idiotic ideas in one minute you know for damn sure that some pinhead has already suggested it.

    Football is doomed.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I believe Jon Gruden said that during the broadcast. ESPN showed a clip of a QB (can't remember who) staring down a receiver allowing the safety to tee off on him to make Gruden's point.

  • In reply to Shady:

oh yeah, i remember. That was when Kam Chancellor hit Vernon Davis and made him drop the pass on the sidelines and they flagged him for it. It actually changed the course of the game....which is always nice.

  • Good call.

  • In reply to Shady:

The second view is much better for showing the legality of that shot.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

I want you to keep in mind that Vernon Davis (another man other team crush) is 6'3" 250 and runs a 4.38 40.

    Chancellor is 6'3" 240 and runs a 4.6 40.

doc can we do the collision calculation here please?

  • Cam Chancellor is my 'other team man crush'. The guy is a fucking animal... a beast among men.

I would LOVE to get that dude on our team... in fact, that entire hawks d backfield is insane. I'll keep the nut and timmyJ, but would trade conte/penis for chancellor/thomas in a zillionth of a nano second.

  • for the record I have to say that Peppers should not play Friday night. He will experience a setback and instead should wait until the fourth preseason game to get some work in.

I pray to the god's of defensive ends that he does not get hurt further. Shea McClellin is as big as Pepper's cock.

  • Same color, too.

All these fucking crazy dudes getting guns man. There needs to be a zero tolerance policy. 1 report, 1 doc script, 1 anything to do with mental health and you're on a list that bars you from buying any kind of weapon or ammo legally.

Solve 95% of these fucking things. It should be pretty fucking simple... useless motherfucking government.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

If we just had real repercussions for offenses and jail time meant years of actual hard physical labor and not fucking "Oz" we'd probably see some improvement.

That motherfucker had been detained back in March and they let him go. Could've nipped that shit in the bud. Some people are just wired differently and there is no way to fix it.

  • i looked up a sex offender in my neighborhood and whenever I see him he won't look me in the eye because he knows that all i want to do is fucking put one in the base of his skull.

It's just a matter of time when you let these guys walk. Out on parole for violent offense and commits a violent offense? You don't say. How could we have predicted that?

Kid has "bitch killer" tatooed on his neck? Probably not going to be looking for legal employment.

Is it bad that i just want to exterminate a shit ton of people in this country?

  • lol, on a lighter note I just confirmed my participation in the December war on the shore. Epic braveheart style tailgate.

  • Guy in La Crosse recently killed his rap partner in a gas station at 3am in an argument over their music. Stuck a knife in his skull right behind the ear. Dude has a violent background a mile long. He wasn't to be in contact with about 8 people who he had threatened or hurt in the past. He never spent any real time in the clink until now.

  • Bostic's fine was all about the money. Yes gents, whatever the League deems a potential civil liability on the field will steer the ship when it comes to the Leagues actions from here on out. I think Siefert says it best in a piece of his I just read.

"Briggs later tweeted his disgust that the NFL fined Bostic but that the low hit on Miami Dolphins tight end Dustin Keller, which ruptured multiple knee ligaments, has gone unpunished. So goes the world we live in, like it or not. It's cheaper, for both the league and its players, to take out a player's knees than to hit him in the head. There is no going back now."

The NFL is covering their rear ends, period. I guarantee you that the Leagues attorneys forced the issue on Bostic's fine. When you compare what happened to Dustin Keller and Willie, the picture is clear. This is NOT about the health and safety of the players, rather, it's an attempt to avoid future litigation. I guess we should all be thankful of that in a way because if at some point in the future, the NFL does make a real transition from legal posturing to player safety, say goodbye to football as we know it.

It will be interesting to see what happens with all the current concussion lawsuits because that outcome will determine the future of the game. Every football fan out there should be crossing their fingers for a judgement in the leagues favor if they wish to preserve what little integrity the game still has left.

For those of us who played the game, we know. Football is a gladiator sport and there will be pain. This is the price we gladly paid as players. We new the risks but we didn't care because of our love of the game. The sweat, the pain, and the Glory made our experience all the more sweeter. Take away one of those ingredients and football is no longer football, just entertainment designed to part an audience from their money.

    That is all!

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

what makes it frustrating is that the lawsuit just alleges that the NFL and doctors hid data and the dangers of concussions from players.

You don't have to flag or fine regular football plays. You're right Trac, this is all about money and future litigation.

Fucking bullshit from the NFL and broke ex players ruining the greatest game on earth.

  • Not just broke ex players. Look and Jr Seau and his family.

  • Friends and colleagues all said the same thing about Seau, that he was fucking lost without football. It was his identity. It was his life.
Don't tell me because he had mood swings he had CTE and was depressed. You can't just turn the warrior switch on and off because you would never have gotten to the pinnacle of one of the most grueling and brutal professions out there.
I have never known one guy that was "all there" that was truly the best at anything.

  • That last sentence is sooooo true

  • I'll take that as a compliment yonny.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

  • In reply to gpldan:

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

    Well said Trac.

When I finally saw the tackle on Keller, I laughed. That's how we tackled in flag football. We didn't have the 'flags' so it was basically rugby-style full contact football with no pads. That tackle makes TV. That's funny.

  • While we're talking about commentary and results thereof, it's interesting to me that the press coverage - virtually all of it - of the Bears is mostly just skepticism about Trestman's ability to change Jay Cutler, with a few brow-wipes over the o-line.

Reading Trestman's replies, as well as others, to these redundant lines of questioning makes me want to scream, but in a happy way. I think Trestman is a coach who doesn't linger over what was and yesterday's news. I don't think it matters fuck-all to him - or Emery for that matter - that Jay did this or the o-line was this, etc.

My take is that they just decided to walk in to Halas Hall and upend it on the offensive side of the ball. Forget spending endless hours watching tape and holding meetings where yesterday's Jay is hashed, hacked, and batted around. Instead, the reporters should be focusing on the fact that Trestman is just doing his thing the way he wants it done without the distraction of looking over everyone's shoulder and trying to rewrite history.

That formula is why Emery hired him over other, sexier names. Trestman isn't going to get sidetracked or distracted by game films from season's past. He's going to take stock of what he's got, and make his way happen, in a way that uses everyone better, differently, and effectively.

Sad, but the press will be playing catch up all season long on this one. Sad, but not surprising.

  • Totally agree. I'm sure that's why they're making Jay play out his contract. Can he perform in a real offense with (hopefully) a decent OL, WR's and TE's? Can he play within the confines of Trestman's O? I'm about 90% sure the answer to both questions are yes.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    Yes. Exactly.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

we're going to find out one way or another my maingses.

  • I agree with both Trac and Johnny about it being a cash grab. No doubt it sucks moose wang. Unfortunately the NFL brought this on themselves by employing shitty medical people who had the owners interests at heart. Butkus and Sayers were sent back out on the field when they could barely walk. And these were franchise players. The players have to accept some responsibility in all of this too. However, most of the players were very young men and probably somewhat naive. If the lawsuits prove the owners knowingly suppressed concussion info from the players, it's all over.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Another thing about the past players is that five years, or ten, were not enough to guarantee a lifetime of financial security.

My bet is that at least some of the former players, if they had the financial resources that modern players have, would be a little less worried about getting money from the league.

On the other hand, in this age of entitlement, who knows?

  • In reply to SC Dave:

    Totally agree.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Sayers would have played the game hurt...for free. That guy is so bitter about not playing even more that he still talks about it like it was taken away from him yesterday. Dude is crazy.

  • Most Bears fans really dislike Sayers for being so blunt and honest about the Beloved. I don't agree with him sometimes but I respect his opinion. After his knee was fucked he played one more season to prove he was still great even in a diminished capacity. Fortunately he proved his point and pulled the plug.

  • How in the hell do ex nfl players have this much clout in the lawsuits, especially about something as shakey as concussion info that may have happened so long ago? Plus, these men knew how violent and rough football one forced them to participate at the pro level...they are partly responsible for playing a game that is inherently dangerous. How many players who get their noggin knocked around and not report it? I don't see ex NBA players who are using canes to get around suing the NBA for allowing their knees and feet to deterioate faster than normal, thus leading to a hindered lifestyle and too broke to get bionic legs...

  • In reply to burntorangenavyblue:

The key to the lawsuit is "did they knowingly suppress information about the effects of concussions". If they did, I don't have a lot of sympathy for the owners. If they didn't, everyone knew the risks involved. It would be the same as working at a chemical plant and the owners knew it would kill you but suppressed the info. Everyone knows the risks now but they didn't back in the 40's and 50's.

  • All you really need to do is look at the still photo above. Shoulder to side of helmet. It is clear as day. I'm so sick of the NFL and their overreactions to a damn good, hard hit. I hope he can appeal this and that fine for a rookie is too high anyway...

NFL...WTF is wrong with you? Grow some balls Goodell and say this is being reversed...the hit was clean. You pussy!

"he looks like an anorexic Hulk Hogan"

  • South...... African

    Careful, she's Africanized.

  • Here's a good article about the Bostic hit and the excessive NFL fine. Check out the pic. It shows him hitting with the crown of the helmet so I'm guessing he's not getting off without a fine. However, the amount was nuts.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

I don't understand how these fucking people expect football players to hit any more. The crown of his helmet in that exact picture is to the side (where is should be in a picture 100% perfect hit) and isn't touching ANY part of the dude's body.

His shoulderpads are the things contacting the receiver.... any side-of-the-helmet contact to his chest is totally incidental and kind of has to happen since his fucking head is attached to his fucking body and that's where his fucking helmet sits.

Jesus fucking christ on a motherfucking bike already.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I"m not disagreeing with you but he needs to lift his head slightly to avoid the fine. My issue is the amount.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

that's the other part of these "form tackling" instructions that I find hilarious. If pro players hit people ace up flike the NFL wants these kids to do in the commercials they'd dislocate their fucking necks.

  • exactly... broken necks happen boys when the head gets slammed UP, not slammed DOWN.

The body is built to flex down, but not up and back.

  • The only football players who tackle with their heads up are 8-10 year old kids who try to hug you before bringing the ball carrier down. Stupid fucking stupid fucking rule.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

it's nothing to do with you canada... these fucking politicians just piss me off.

It's the fact that they sat in a room and said something like, "EVERYONE saw that hit and is lauding it as the best hit of the season so far... even our own website. This is the perfect opty to send a message to the rest of the league for the rest of the year/"

That is so fucked... never mind that they are fining a kid $20k. Inane.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

I hope his roomie is Edmond.

funny and interesting. Read the original article a year ago when he started. might have posted it.

  • You know what if Goodell and the Politicans want the players to start keeping their heads up. Fine...throw out the current football helmets and start wearing these again.

  • In reply to Bears-4-Ever:

B4E..Da Coach had suggested that last year...I say wear those when they do the throwback jersey games.

  • o.K. boyz..I'm sorry if this has been posted but "THE RANT" that we love so much from the "Rev"...may have a new ranter runner up here...Golic

  • In reply to MB30SD: got it MB...these fucks are just throwing numbers from their arses...not even double checking the contract that was signed by the NFL and NFPLA..

  • what in thee fuck is happening in this world right now (NTTAWWT)?!?!!?!?

  • this is surreal:

  • This is probably the funniest analogy (soliloquy?) I've read in a long long time: "...and looked as graceful as two toddlers playing catch with a bag of angry cats."

What makes it just a tiny bit funnier you ask? was said about Timmy Tebow

  • In reply to MB30SD:

two toddlers playing catch with a bag of angry cats.

    hee hee

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Hey, I give credit where credit is due but I also call it like I see it. That article couldn't have said it better. The dude has lost any spark he may have had in Denver. He should never have cut his hair off.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

hahahaha... was that a Sampson reference?

Detroit is bankrupt but the politicians are going to divert about 450 mil in tax revenues to subsidize a billionaire. It's sinister that much of the tax revenue will be diverted from schools and other public sector services.

  • In reply to Cormonster:

All we need now is a Nero to burn down the country and blame it on the silly Christians on those pesky conservatives. Oh wait, we have one of those. Sorry, I digress.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

Nero used Christians as human torches to light his feasts.

So next time you old folgies shake your head and ruminate about how the how this world is going to hell in a hand-basket, just remember good ole Nero enjoying his dinner beside burning bodies.

  • lovely man.

  • Waffle, I went to Greek Island Tuesday night. Great food. Saganaki was good and the dinner I got was very tasty. Had a bit of an ordeal on the trip . After 4 hours of driving I knew I wouldn't catch the 2:20 train in Lake Forest, so I stopped at my favorite Italian deli in Kenosha to grab some goodies and have a beer with a friend. With construction and traffic now I was running late for the 3:20 train. I drove like a maniac, parked, grabbed my bag and cooler, and sprinted for the train flagging the conductor to wait. About twenty minutes later I realized I broke rule # 1 of going to a concert: don't forget the tickets. After a couple hundred shows this was the first time it ever happened. Had to hop off and turn around. Luckily I got about a three minute window to run to my car, grab the tickets, and catch the last train to Union Station before the show. Walked to the Congress Hotel, caught a nice buzz, and watched the Allman Brothers put on a great show at Chicago Theater. The end.

  • In reply to Cormonster:

my god maings. I would have said fuck this shit and gone to a bar at the point I realized I forgot my tix

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Jesus Christ dude man! You don't bail on an otherwise awesome night because of a minor fuck up. This was probably the last time I get to see Greg Allman sing live. Plus my cousin who works downtown was depending on me to bring the tickets, and we had awesome seats.

Luke Kuechley is a beast. An absolute monster. He's unbelievable. I gave you guys shit for wanting to move up in the draft to take him, but in hindsight, that move would have been brilliant. Good job guys, you were right. I was wrong.

  • In reply to Shady:

I also think Carolina might have one of the best D-Lines in the league. I'm also a big fan of Captain Munnerlyn.

  • In reply to Shady:

    thank you.

    Dave was the main one.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • Did you fucking see that fucking call!?!?!?!?!??!?!

LK had BOTH his fucking arms up and hit the dude with the flat of his chest.

This is getting fucking silly man. This continues and I ain't going to be watching this fucking garbage for much fucking longer

  • In reply to MB30SD:

i'm at a loss for words. That was a brilliant football play. These guys don't even/can't even see what is going on when the game happens in real time. How can they call that a penalty??? fucking how/?? what if that was a reg season or playoff game? what the fuck is going on here? i want to stop watching the nfl so fucking bad.

  • hard to see with just this angle, but he had BOTH his hands up when he hit him.

how the fuck do you call that?!?!?!?!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Just curious on the Bostic penalty, is the primary objective of the "don't hit with the crown of your helmet" rule to protect the offensive or defensive player?

  • In reply to Shady:

the original rule was to cut down on blatant head shots. now its for even the slightest amount of incidental contact.

  • and most times for hits that kind of look like they could have been headshots.....but they wouldn't know because the play happened in a fraction of a second. You certainly can't have a quick replay to see if the defender led with the head because the game would take way too long. I mean, you'd actually have to cut into the 2.25 hrs of commercials on an hour long football game.

    fucking ridiculous

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Another bit of Americana lost forever to the trial lawyers...

  • DJ Moore sighting. Pick 6. And still has the eye black on his nose looking like a teddy bear.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • RIP Patrice O'Neal:

  • dude!!! was that girl with the titties boyfriend tsarnev?

  • Oh Brother! Devin is reserving a spot in Canton for himself already. It just doesn't seem right to me. Anyone else?

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

Devin has, like, two brain cells to rub together. Like any stupid person, when you give them a 'hook' to do something, they go around repeating it.

In his case, the Emery hook, with Devin's agent, went like this.

"Devin, if you quit now, Canton is not in the cards. You have a shot to be the first in for special teams. History, Devin. You want to go down in a history as the best ever, right? Right?"

And so on.... so now he repeats it. "Going for Canton, going for Canton." like some short bus kid with his Bears lunchbox.

I have a carps shirt that my buddy brought back from japan for me.

    Keep it classy Detroit:

  • Damn. How bout them Lions? They have some dangerous TEs and Bush still has it. Their backup QB is probably better than their starter. Game on for the NFCN.

  • sigh

  • DJ Moore gets a pick 6 for the Panthers. We got rid of DJ because ...?

  • because he's 5'9 180 and gets abused like the pretty young first time felon in Cook County Jail.

  • naw, not on specials. Dude's a monster in a small package.

Oh and I'm too pretty for jail.

  • So, Disney's ESPN dropped its plan to work with PBS' Frontline after NFL execs had a heated meeting with the booyas top brass.

Frontline is working on a long investigative report on the impact (no pun intended) of head injuries in the NFL.

Of course the league denies the theory it tried to influence this decision, but word on the street is that the documentary was front and center during the talks.

  • In reply to Shady:

Yo, Shady, Auction drafts usually take at least one hour, so if the draft starts at the same time as the kick-off, whoever draft Raven-Broncos player doesn't get points, or is it retroactive?

Maybe change the draft two days before (tues) around the same time.

  • The draft time will remain the same. Your questions will be answered in time. Such is the intrigue of Shady's league of glory.

  • In reply to Shady:

    fucking amature

  • In reply to MB30SD:

You are like the buzzing of flies to Shady. I might care what you have to say if you actually JOINED a FFL. But alas, you're too escared to lose.

  • hilarious.

what's up with the blatant and unnecessarily nasty racism. Yes, I know it's the nameless video innerness, but jesus people.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I know. When Shady linked that vid to the 9er brawl, the whole comments section became one big "wetbacks" board.

And the dude who started it was a white guy from the Hell's Angels, no?

Can't get more "american" than that lol

  • change your sheets Shady!!!! Gross!!!
