Reverend's Rant & Bears Fan's Sunday Guide

Reverend's Rant & Bears Fan's Sunday Guide

Congrats to I Bleed Navy + Orange on a terrific, come-from-behind victory in the blog picks contest. Crown had the thing wrapped up for seven or eight weeks and Bleed kept in it. Please email me (jeff@dabearsblog.com) to discuss prizes and such.

What are we rooting for this weekend as Bears fans?

  • Browns over Redskins. This is perhaps the biggest non-Bears results. If the Redskins win on the road in Cleveland they will most likely head to Dallas in Week 17 with the same 9-6 record as the Bears (should Chicago lose to Green Bay).
  • St. Louis over Minnesota. I don't think the Vikings are going on a run here down the stretch but why not have them lose?
  • Pittsburgh over Dallas. The Bears win over Dallas makes them the least intimidating of the WC contenders but knocking them back a step would certainly be welcomed.
  • Buffalo over Seattle. If the Bills could beat the Seahawks this week there is still an opportunity for the Seahawks to fade from the playoff picture as they have a home tilt with San Francisco next week.
  • Take your pick on New York v. Atlanta. Someone has to win the NFC East and whomever is left will be thrown into the WC mix. I would prefer the Giants fall out of the playoff picture because - let's be frank - do you think the Bears can beat them in that building on wild card weekend?

Big point. If Bears beat Packers they should solidify a position in the postseason.

  • All good points Jeff. However, it's all up to the Beloved. If we manage to somehow get into the playoffs by the skin of our teeth, we're fucked. If we right the ship and start playing good ball (doubtful but who knows?) then we have a hope in hell.

  • First to say that its been a while!

  • Canada you got me by 30 seconds

  • In reply to ChiBears34:

I'm not trying to rub it in but it's too bad that I did. It truly means nothing to me and I never claim first. Oh well. Hope we smoke those Fudgies this weekend.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

"...and I never claim first" just another reason you have my utmost respect, Canada.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Thanks Al. Back at cha!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

It doesn't mean anything to anybody Canada. It's just a little bit of sillyness people engage in as if it means something, like rooting for a sports team.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

I never knew what the deal was about being first. It never bothered me, I just don't participate.

  • Is it just me or has Tice not used Matt Forte correctly or enough? It seems to me that Forte has been an afterthought, and when he does have a "good gain (more than 5 yards)", Tice automatically goes to the pass or rotates another back into the mix. Sorry too much chatter about Lovie that last few days, let's start talking about what really matters.

  • In reply to ChiBears34:

Forte could be a WIDEOUT if he so chose, as evidenced by that slant for a TD against Seattle.

Additionally, even when Jerry Rice was catching 80 to 100 balls in the mid to late 80s for the 49ers, Roger Craig was ALSOcatching 60-80 and rushing for 800-1000 yards.

  • In reply to ChiBears34:

Nope. Forte gets the ball plenty, and even Webb can run block. Sanders, Payton, Bo, the great ones find a way and don't make excuses. The rest ... we pay eight million dollars. Why exactly. I'm not sure - not when there's a guy fresh out of college who will run the same four point five yards for seven million less.

  • No, he doesn't, not this year, not under Tice.

  • Walter Payton, 190 games
3838 carries, 492 receptions, 21264 yds from scrimmage
    averages: 22.79 touches/game, and 4.91 yds/touch

    Matt Forte, 77 games
1206 carries, 259 receptions, 7300 yds from scrimmage
    averages: 19.02 touches/game, and 4.98 yds/touch

    Barry Sanders, 153 games
3062 carries, 352 receptions, 18190 yds from scrimmage
    averages: 22.31 touches/game, and 5.32 yds/touch

If your comment that some "find a way and don't make excuses", is meant to imply that Forte makes excuses and does not produce you are demonstrably dead wrong.

"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence."
    - John Adams

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Great stats Dave. The fallacy that a great RB doesn't need an OL and can do it all themselves doesn't make sense. Yes Walter and Barry had some great runs with no blocking. They also had a ton of plays with negative yardage to offset some of those.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

I understand that John Adams was a big (wait for it) ...PATRIOT fan.

  • Have not heard the Revs rant for awhile. Good stuff man. We are gonna win this game. Emotions are high right now, and I honestly believe that this game we go out an fucking stomp the pack. No close score, no struggling offense, no Rodgers. We are gonna do it big this game. I got that feeling people. BearDown!

  • You, Johnnywad, from last thread...

"How long does a newcomer have to post before clearance to state opinion based in fact is given?"

Not really sure, but I know it it ain't on Day One?

Did you think that "newcomers' rebuke was aimed at you"

I mean, I certainly don't consider you a "newcomer" or even a (wait for it...)

    "JOHNNY Come lately"
    (see how I did that?)

I hope you weren't defending my intended target.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    who you talking about Tuctown?

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

I refuse to grant him the respect of even using his lame handle.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

For sure, it was NOT Johnnywad.

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

He's talking about guinead1ck. Canada took exception to his overuse of "LOL" (and perhaps his pessimism on Packer week, although that's just a guess on my part). Guinead1ck responded aggressively and some others took exception to that.

Personally I have no problem with what Mr. D1ck said in the last thread.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

    Canada. 16?

(Holmes strikes a match against the fireplace and holds the match pointing down at a slant over the tobacco, before leveling it and pulling the air hard through the embers)

"Do you remember 16 having a go at us for using ellipses, Watson? Mmm, yes. All is not as it seems."
    "Can we 69 now?"
    "Lets."

  • Hilarious! Are you sure that's tobacco in that pipe?

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

See, you could have used lol there instead of "hilarious."
    less keystrokes, same meaning.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

    Not gonna happen.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

LMAO? Your ass doesn't really come off, you know.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

His post was equal parts venom and LOL's which I thought was ridiculous. I pointed it out with predictable results. Thanks go out to my blog friends for having my back and I will try to refrain from those exchanges in the future.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

I like those exchanges. What bothers me is the idea that not everybody can participate. If overuse of internet abbreviations like "lol" is teenage-girlish, cliquishness is a thousand times more so.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

I guess. I'm a very literal person and I'm not sure I've ever laughed out loud while posting anything. If you have to put that in your post to indicate mirth I think you've failed. That's just me. I'm a grumpy old man.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    Mirth?!?!

    Nice canada

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Afaic, it's no worse than "ha ha," "hee hee" or "mwah," or any other method of expressing laughter in text. I actually prefer it to animated smilies. Smilies drive me crazy, except the bleeding sarcasm smilie, which I love.

But I agree, overuse of lol is girly.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

Where do you stand on LMFAO ?

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

I never stood on it, Albert. Or did you not mean that literally? /sarcasm off.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

GOL (grump out loud). Just 4 u, Canada.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

    Sweet!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

I saw no reason for his use of "You miserable piece of S..."

    That's when he lost me.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

The best part of that was he replied to himself. In essence he called himself that. I didn't feel any need to respond. I was pretty sure when I needled him about the LOL's it wasn't going to end well. After being on these boards for years you can usually predict how the internet tough guys are going to respond.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    Now, if he'd said ...

    "Canada, you ignorant slut!"

...THAT would have been FUNNY and he could have avoided all this.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

No kidding! That would have made me laugh.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

"Not really sure, but I know it it ain't on Day One?"

    Mwah!

  • LOL. It was nobody's Day One.

  • As opposed to "Moi" ?

For old "60 but don't feel a day over 59" me, "Mwah" brings to mind Dinah Shore, who I am sure MOST of the folks here are saying either "Who?" or at least "Why?"

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

See the USA in a Chevrolet

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Thought you were firing at me Al. Sorry. Perhaps I'll change my name to "Johnny Come Lately". It's got a nice ring to it. I was posting in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep and it occurred to me later that I may have misinterpreted your post.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

    Fuggeddah bowd it.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Fugodden.

  • I don't see us smashing the Packers. It's a divisional game and the games have been close the past two years.

Like always, it will come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes and executes the best.

This would be a nice game to see the old Hester and Peppers break out a dominating performance. The same goes for Jay but he can only do so much. Jay only throwing to Marshall and running for first downs will get him by against weaker teams. Someone has to step up offense.

The offensive line has been playing very average the past few games and that's an improvement for them. This Sunday needs to be their best game. Why? Cutler will not be as mobile and his neck is already damaged as it is. I really don't think Cutler can take a beating this Sunday and win. If Cutler takes a beating it wouldn't surprise me to see him out for the rest of season.

  • this time is different Erik. Cmon man get on madden and ill show you!

  • "Smashing the Packers".

Ahh. A fella can dream, can't he?

Alas, I don't see it happenin' either.

Need Jeffrey to come up big and atone for the TD drop last week.

  • its gonna happen. Im telling you u guys. Dont doubt the feeling mang!

  • Amen Reverend!

Get up, dust yourselves off, and finish the fucking dance!

    Bear down!

  • In reply to MikeV in OR:

Brush that dirt off your shoulder:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4d01sQWFbg

(Sorry, I've posted this several times already - Brandon Marshall highlights set to a mashup of "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve & Jay Z's "Dirt Off Your Shoulder." Not for all musical tastes. But the highlights are great. Watch it in HD, or at least 480).

  • And for all you guys who think we shouldn't go to the playoffs because we'll just get knocked out at the first round. Fuck that. I'd rather get invited to the dance and not have much fun, than sit home and watch all the popular kids go.

  • In reply to MikeV in OR:

I'd rather stay at home and bash the bishop than go to the prom and get blue balls.

  • The thing is that if you go you just might get lucky...

...and if not, you can always take matters into your own hands.

  • Think about all the cock-blocking you could do, Irish.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWsQu_xTbbE

  • I don't know if you all remember but two years ago the Giants went 10-6 and missed the playoffs because the Packers beat the Bears.

A lot of Giants fans wanted Tom gone. The managment thought about it and decided to keep him. Funny how the next year the Giants go 9-7.. get into the playoffs and win another Superbowl.

That's why I wonder if you would all be okay with just letting Lovie go if the Bears go 10-6 and miss the playoffs.

  • The New York media has 'fired' Tom Coughlin at LEAST twice and maybe even THREE times during his tenure.

  • No.

But when Jerry Angelo has been eating you like cancer for ten years there's not really much you can do. They drove the clown car off the cliff, threw the clown commander out, but we're still obeying the laws of gravity.

  • Coughlin was already a Super Bowl-winning coach at that point.

Lovie's on the verge of missing the playoffs two consecutive years after starting a combined 14-4.

There's no world in which that's acceptable. It's time to move on.

  • Fuck the Packers. The Bears will find a way to win on Sunday. Just get Forte the ball at least 25 times. We can pound the rock on these assholes. The problem is can Tice call a good game.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

True. I know if we run the ball consistently we win this game. We gotta control this shit. Run, run, run, play action, and run. Packers are gonna bite so hard on the run IF we establish it.

  • Apparently, Joe Anderson will play on offense. When he was first activated, it was said that he would probably be limited to special teams.

    http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/17020348-606/jay-cutler-good-to-go-according-to-lovie-smith.html

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

Joe is a baller. I like Joe.

  • He definitely talks a good game.

    http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/17020348-606/jay-cutler-good-to-go-according-to-lovie-smith.html

I hear he did well in preseason (I didn't see any of the games). He looks good in college highlight reels, although he played for Texas Southern (not exactly the big leagues, although Strahan came from there).

    http://www.youtube.com/user/903joe1

Final analysis: he can't possibly drop more catches per chance than Kellen Davis, can he?

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

Ach. That Sun-Times link was the wrong one. I meant to post the following:

    http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2012/12/rookie_wr_joe_anderson_eager_f.html

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

I did see him in the PS, and Joe looked very competitive. Had a knack for getting open (like that TD against the Gmen). Funny that Joe mentioned Cruz cause that's exactly the type of mold he would fit into.

Basically, he's a faster, quicker, Bennett and more dangerous with the ball.

However, Joe's gonna have to show hands and guts like Bennett over the middle.

  • FWIW, he shows all that in his highlight reels. Dude outruns his shoes here @ 2:54.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

Makes you re-evaluate what being an honors student means. Having a pulse is the only requirement apparently.

What happened to those poor souls and what it was like for them we daren't even imagine. That was literally hell on earth, that is not supposed to happen. War happens. That child-slaughter does not. That should not. To the point where people want metal detectors and armed guards at fucking kindergarten? Really? Doesn't anyone see what a satirical mind-fuck that would be?

It's like smething out of Vonnegut. Kindergarten Cop indeed.

  • Its hard to even get on here and post with you guys thinking about those kids. Its hard. Feels like we should be doing something somewhere to try and set shit right. Hope the Bears give me three hours of meaningless joy Sunday so I can shake that fucking monster out of my head. I can't imagine being a parent of one of those babies. Fuck

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

Other than having armed guards at every school, I don't know what the answer is. I wish I had a solution. There are so many guns in the US that any form of gun control is too little, too late. Not trying to start an argument with anyone or make this politcal. Obviously anyone that would do such a thing is totally nuts. I only wish they would reverse the order and blow their brains out first. It would avoid a lot of needless suffering. Truly tragic.

  • My 5 yr old son has turn to a Bears fan and as a father Im proud of that. I told him "look son these guys right here, we hate. We gotta beat them" and he says "Papi the WACKERS suck, da bears will hurt them and beat them by 20 points" haha fuck it. I know he made a big margain but dam guys we got that feeling over here in Fresno.

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

and by the way. I gotta say i hate Fresno and california for that matter. Wish I was back home on the Illinois Wiscaaansin border rooting for my Bears with my crazy uncle Lenny who always told me "Pussy aint got a face boy" man I miss home

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

    Classic.

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

Pussy ain't got a tail either, my man. Just though I'd let you know that, in case your crazy uncle from the Wisconsin border failed to mention it.

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

Hilarious! Everyone needs that slightly off-kilter uncle to pass along those words of wisdom. My friend's dad used to always say, "Never pass up a piece of ass. You can't make up for it. The next one will always be the next one." Always made me laugh.

    Interesting stats on downfield receivers.

  • Good stuff; I thought the part on passing to RBs was interesting too. Evidently, Tice is following a league-wide trend.

The downfield stuff makes me wonder how the QBs rank throwing the ball over 20 yards. I'd try to find it, but I'm off for a hike soon and have no time at the moment.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Please, Harris is dishonest with the numbers. Look at this sentence:

"However, MJD and Stewart were on pace for lesser receiving seasons even before they got hurt, which would have made 8-of-10 "decliners" on this list (7-of-9 if the retired Tomlinson is removed)."

Bwaaaahahahahalololololol. What does Harris mean, "IF the retired Tomlinson is removed" from the list? Why would Harris include Tomlinson in the analysis in the first place? The fucker RETIRED. Of course his numbers declined. It's a very common thing in the NFL that, when a player retires, his numbers decline, and not because of any mysterious trend.

Look at MJD's numbers. Harris says he was on pace for a lesser receiving season this year. Was he? MJD played only 5 complete games this year. He had 14 receptions, versus 7 after 5 games last year. So MJD was actually on pace to double his receptions this year, right? No, of course not. Five games isn't enough to project a full season.

But if you're going to do it, at least do it right. Harris projected MJD for only 17 receptions this year. WTF? How does 14 receptions after 5 games project to 17 in a full season?

Look at Mike Tolbert. Could it be that the reason for his decline in receiving is, he's playing for a different team this year, and last year was his best year ever, by far? Isn't that the likely reason? Not if you want to bullshit readers into believing that you're ferreting-out secret statistical trends in the NFL.

  • In chitown boys... Packers. .. dead.

Cant and won't talk about what happened yesterday, makes me sick and full of rage. Last time I'll mention it.

Had fun last night... doc rabbit and I hit the town a bit under johnny's guidance from afar.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Glad to hear you guys are in town and rockin'. I was looking around for some music tonight. My favorite music venue is Kingston Mines. 2 stages, continuous music. Tonight is Carl Weathersby and Joanna Connor. Both of them are great if you like Blues. Also, at the Double Door is the Chicago Afrobeat Project. Watched a couple of videos. Some of them don't look too African but the music was fun. Hope you guys have a great time and all of you that are looking to get laid, hope you get some!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    Thanks canada

  • In reply to MB30SD:

One of us got sticky finger...but that's all.

  • That was gross doc, we don't want to hear about your exploits maings. Besides putting your finger in your butt while you spank it is just a little sick.

  • Hope it was green sticky icky!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Hey, I resemble that remark! Wait a minute, I'm a weirdo for NOT wanting to meet up with dudes I met in the innerness? What the? Anyway, I had the niece and nephew in town for a visit last week and those cute little germ incubators got me horribly sick. If you fuckers want to meet a sick weirdo you met on a blog then let's grab luncheon a cold rainy day thats sure to make me feel better. How about Portillos?

  • In reply to Shady:

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Portillos. When the family flys Lou's in we always order the combo pack of pizzas and Italian Beef. Sick weirdo or not, I'd be there in a flash.

  • In reply to MikeV in OR:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Alright it's been over an hour and I'm getting fucking hungry, I've got a holiday partay tonight in the 'burbs so I ain't got all night. This broke ass blog won't let me post from my cell phone anymore so lemme know, weirdo.

  • In reply to Shady:

When do you want to meet... and which portillos?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The one on Ontario. I'll be there in about an hour and will be the weird guy sitting by himself waiting to meet up with dudes he met on the interwebs.

  • In reply to Shady:

I fucking knew the weirdo comment would get you. Ha! See you there @ 1:45ish

Now let it go or it will burn you up from the inside out.

(Oh, and make sure to wear your hospital mask and sanitize before we sit down)

  • In reply to Shady:

    Atta Boy, Shady.

Now bring your internet pen pal some nuggets!

  • This thing on?

  • It's a great day to go flying here in NJ. I will be rocking my "da bears blog" t-shirt. We will win.tomorrow!

  • Get you a combo beef/sausage...That's the goods right there!! Damn, I'm all kinds of jealous. I was almost up there this weekend, but had work to do here in the land of entrapment. I was at least planning to be through a fifth of Knob Hill by now, but ugh, work gods fucked me!!! I need to hit the lotto already.

Yup, you all need to spill the sticky details about the trip and post up some pics!! And just because it is Pack week, by popular demand....

  • In reply to 505 Bears!!:

Doc had that... I had a beef, hot gardinera dipped. Good shit maings.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

That's exactly how it should be done...

  • Shady came out and met us. He's good people. Thanks for the beer, Shady maing.

  • MB, Doc, Shady, Murph. Sounds.like you guys are having a great time in the city. Awesome. You guys need to.get liquored up and head to the Fudge's team hotel in the middle of the night. Pull the fire alarm and punch Rodgers in his nuts when he comes running out with his Asian tranny hooker.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

Good Call. Hopefully they won't punch the tranny in the nutsack.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Would that be violence against women? So confused. Best to avoid it just in case.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

If I were filthy rich, I would send them all a gift certificate good for one lap dance at your local dankiest strip club, and they would have to use because it's rude to decline a gift.

They really should make those. Wouldn't that be awesome.

Grandpa opens present, "What's this, sonny?"
"That's a gift certificate for a free drink and lap dance at Knockers"
Grandpa with a tear in his eye, "God bless you child. I knew you were more like me than your father."

Tis the gift that keeps on giving.

  • Congrats to Crown & Bleed.
Outstanding work by both of you.
You left me in the dust EARLY in that race.

Picking games against the spread is just another item on my "Things I Suck At" list.

  • Been off grid 3 days fishing in FL keys. Cutty hurt his knee? I am glad Marshall is talking shit, someone needs to get some fired up smack going, if we go downs lets go in flames. I dont post much here but read regularly. FUCK.THE.PACK.

  • Have fun, guys. I'm as sick as a dog.

Let me know when you are at Ditka's and I'll call in Doc's tab via card.

Email me at gpl_dan at that freakin yahoo place and tell me the party name and the time.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Major bummer, man. The guys and I will be sorry to miss you. Hope you feel better, mang.

I'll be alright without you though, thank to a few generous blog brothers.

    Tomorrow....We win.

  • Doc - I might try to stop by between the 3 (!) birthday parties I'm taking children to tomorrow and all of the other weekend festivities. Does someone have an email address I can reach out to for contact info?

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

I've got an email address for MB30SD. Email me at tobijohn@yahoo.com and I'll pass it on...

  • Bears-v-Pack
    G-men-v-Falcons
    Colts-v-Texans
    Broncos-v-Ravens
    9ers-v-Pats

Xmas comes early this Sunday. All my psychic energy will be consumed by our game, but whoever wins those games tomorrow will begin their momentum-fueled run to the SB. This is the time of year for "signature wins" which end up on SB documentaries that usually sound something like, "That was the game where we came together as a team and believed that the Super Bowl was our destiny..."

  • For me the contenders are the Fudgies, G-Men, Texans, Broncos, 9ers and Pats. I just can't buy the Falcons, Colts or Ravens as contenders this year. No comment on the Beloved.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Both divisions are clusterfucks. Just when you think the 9ers are gonna go on a rampage, they lose to the Rams.

Pats put a beat down the Texans, but the Pats also lost to the Ravens who just lost to the Skins.

Gmen put a beat down on the Pack, like always, but they too lost to the Skins and got beat down by the Bengals.

I truly think the contenders are gonna be separated from the pretenders this weekend.

My money is on the hottest teams. Pats, Broncs, Gmen and if RG3 is healthy, the Skins. If not, we just might Homer into the playoffs.

  • Not sure I can go along with you on the Skins but none of the others would be a surprise. Think about the names coaching and playing for those teams. Both Mannings, Brady, Coughlin, Belicheat, not to mention a host of young talent. Makes my head hurt.

  • Anybody here Melton's status as of today? That's the injury that bothers me most against the Pack. He does a nice job of dirtying up the front edge of the pocket. (If there were a Pro Bowl for dirtying the pocket, I would go every year.)

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

    Very doubtful

  • Not good 'too. He makes a big difference against Rodgers

  • FUCK!

    Is Paea even back?

So it's gonna be the Collins & Okoye show? Wow.

  • I think Paea is probable.

  • Here's the Sun-Times injury list (not sure if it's the most up-to-date):

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

On Da site, Melton doubtful, Toe questionable, Paea probable.

We need big days from Forte, Cutler, Jeffry, and Marshall. We are hurting big time on D and on special teams.

Offense kicks ass tomorrow or season done.

  • I hate mark schlereth

  • Back from the office holiday party, you know, the annual even where the interns get drunk, the middle aged women gossip about middle aged women, and your boss hits on you until you have sex with them in the copy room. Hope I got that promotion!

But seriously, it was a pleasure meeting up with some of da blog faithful this afternoon at Portillo's. I'm sure every regular on the blog has a mental avatar for each character who frequents this site, but when you put a face with a name it's always amusing.

MB is a little more jacked than I expected. If he grew a moustache he could probably land a job impersonating Jesse Ventura. Rabbit AKA MBHAP is a taller thinner guy (with a fat voice) who was hung over and in desperate need of a piece of Beariphernalia. Enjoy the scarf. And Doc. Well Doc was exactly like I pictured him. Simply Nitty, doctor gritty. Nice meeting all you fuckers.

But the mild weather in Chicago is crazy. This may be the longest we've gone in in the city without measurable snowfall. Global warming or not, you guys caught a break for not having to survive a game outside in a 30 below blizzard. Sure snowfall sounds fun, epic even. But as long as it doesn't rain tomorrow consider yourselves (fingers and toes) lucky. Speaking of lucky, lots of beautiful babies out there in the city waiting for you guys. Make it happen tonight!

But more importantly, enjoy the fuck outta the game tomorrow boys. Rooting on the faithful at Soldier Field against the enemies from the land of cheese is nirvana for a Bears fan, an event you'll surely remember forever. It will be a hard fought game, but I have a feeling the blog power in the house will prove to be the difference tomorrow. Bear down fellas. Bear down.

  • In reply to Shady:

Yeah, Bear down, laddies! We're depending on you!

  • thats funny cause at my work they call me the mexican Jesse Ventura or the mexican AAHHHNOOOLLDD!!!

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

The Mexican Jesse Ventura? I gotta see this. C'mon Fres, just make your avatar a self portrait , like Perno's.

  • Puck the Fackers!!!

  • GREAT TIME last night. gp, you were missed! It was great to meet some of the regs from here. I'd already met MBPosse, and he is just a great guy. Johnny Waffle is PURE Chicago! And man can he PAarrrrtttaayyyyyy! I dont know if I could keep up back in the day. Doc, a real laid back gentleman! No one can help but like him. MB? Great guy, funny, very Southern California! He put on a Chicago Bear Lucha Libre mask in Ditkas! Watch for him, if he has it on at the game he is sure to get some TV time! Our waiter at Ditkas procalimed he was NOT gay, but did seem to take a special interest in MBs physique and what he did for a living. I told the waiter not to worry about the gay thing because MB always proclaims "not like there's anything wrong with it" . I dont know about Jesse Ventura, as MB lacks his sheer size, but he is built like Bob Sanders of the Colts. If he comes to the draft party in April he is nominated as first one into the drunken scrums! Yours truly was definitely the Father figure! I needed Canada and Albert for balance! All being said, we have a great community here, if anyone can possibly make any of these get togethers, just try to do it. Sorry I missed you Shady! Next time for sure. NEW BEAR, you were missed too! There are pictures, keep an eye out for them!

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Suppose 2:48 here may be that hit on Sanders to which the story refers? Looks like #88 to me...
