Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions Game Thread

Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions Game Thread

Five football-related points to counter my intangibles-laden game preview:

  • If I had a vote for team MVP this season it would probably go to Charles Tillman anyway but he can cement that award by shutting down Calvin Johnson again. Johnson has been an unstoppable force this season - arguably much of it in garbage time - but Tillman stopped him once. Can he do it again?
  • Isn't this the game where Jay Cutler should load up the stat sheet? Running backs are hurt, season on the line, offensive line coming off their best performance of the  year...etc. Shouldn't we be looking at 300+ yards and a bunch of touchdowns?
  • Hit Stafford. A lot.
  • I think the Bears have a big return in them today. Devin Hester is being quietly slid off the offensive depth chart while returning to his role as the greatest kick returner to ever live. It is time, Mr. Hester.
  • Henry Melton talked enough this week. If he no shows in Detroit, he's getting slaughtered here tomorrow.

Bear down. I more than likely won't have a new post up until tomorrow morning. For my thoughts throughout the day, check out @dabearsblog on Twitter.

  • First, ninth, twentieth...who cares?!! Let's win and big cheese dumb ass's team better win...big cheese you been running your mouth all year on our blog, double dipshit better throw 7 tds!!

Go Bears. I don't get all the "let's lose and not make the playoffs talk". Sounds more like fear of going in as underdogs (big underdogs) in the playoffs.

Who knows, this team might hit its stride. Or on the other hand they can be what they have been which is a disappointment. But either way, I want one more week of Bears football.

I don't care how they win, but man would it be a boost if the awfense (yes that is the correct spelling for the Bears offensive team), spread the ball around, Forte, Bennett, Jefferies, Davis and of course Marshall caught balls. You know... .like we were promised.

  • In reply to Big Mike:

    Dear Mike,

Jay Cutler is 8-1 against the Lions with 11TD's and 1 INT.

    The Lions are fucking toast.

  • Bear Down. will be watching the game with a college buddy...we need this one ladies and gents.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

that you in the pic again FQ?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

yea...a Chiefs fan and me after he had to pay up on a fantasy football bet.

  • fb_avatar

Gah! Most important game of the year, and no Sunday Ticket. For some reason, the networks have decided that it makes sense to play Eagles/Giants in Boise, ID instead of Bears/Lions.

Any "hackers" lurkin, "hijacking" accounts to spread holiday cheer?

  • In reply to Chris Odom:

Chris, get out of your fucking Dora pajamas and go to Buffalo Wild Wings and get some fucking wings and the tallest coldest shittiest Coors light they have, wash rinse repeat until 615pm when the smoke has cleared and you've watched both games.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Waffle:

B-b-but it snowed last night! The roads are icy! And I fuckin love these pajamas goddamnit!

  • In reply to Chris Odom:

"Hacker" in this context sounds like a perjorative for GB fans.

  • fb_avatar

It's more of a "It's not me, it's another guy", wink wink, plausible deniability kind of thing.

  • This is it you motherfuckers!!! Season of Destiny unfolding in this beautiful day of NFL football.

Cutler and the boys vs the biggest collection of shitbags in the league. Nick Fairley's pussy hurts so he won't be available to pull a Charles Martin today so Suh is going to try to break Cutty.

It's up to a young Gabe Carimi to fuck his world up. Cut that motherfucker down, down to Chinatown.

You're about to watch the Brandon and Alshon show against their shitty secondary.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Waffle:

Your a maniac Waffle. Love it. Go Bears.

  • In reply to Waffle:

Season of Destiny, Mr. Johnny!! Season of Effin' Destiny!!

  • In reply to SC Dave:

    yes. 23 minutes away.

  • In reply to Waffle:

  • Got my DBB t-shirt in the mail last night, as clear a sign as any that some pussies are gonna get neutered today. Let's gerrit done boys!

    aside: t-shirt's great, thanks Jeff.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

    you're madd

So is Marshall. Season of destiny.

  • In reply to Waffle:

I'm in Johnny! Season of Destiny! Fuckin' A right!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

that's right you glorious canadian!! season of destiny!!!!!

  • Let's go gang! I too got my Da Bears Blog T-shirt, and this will be the first week watching the Beloved in it.

Much like me with the Bears, the gal who bought me the shirt said, "I wish I knew how to quit you..."

Yeah, it's from LITERALLY a gay movie ubiquitously called "Brokeback Mountain" - get over it!

Get over your Lovie doubts and Tice fears for one glorious Sunday and believe.

    Bear Down!

  • Heading out in 10 minutes to start in Bears Day as we storm the warzone that is Detroit and kick pussies in.

Location of my battle - Buffalo Wild Wings

Weapons of choice - Tall Dos Equis and traditional wings in BWW signature sauce "Wild" with side of bleu cheese.

Fireteam members - 2 brothers in law and an uncle

Mission objective - eat and drink to capacity whilst Bears football rape the Lions as I berate any Lions fans in the bar.

Secondary objective - convince wife to let me stay at bar to watch the whole packers game while due to playoff implications.

tertiary objective - attend anniversary dinner with wife after watching football all day without committing social disgrace.

  • beautiful.

  • oh fuck.

Talk about bad timing. Holy shit maings... I'll be thinking about you later today.

    All my best brother.

  • If we do get in. I hope we play the niners in the first round and absolutely kicked their asses. A niner friend of mine at work tells me yesterday. "I hope the bears get in, cause out of all teams I would want to play it would be the bears. Easy win." He goes on to say that Cutler would crumble. That shit right there son, that shit right their! that shit hit a button inside. Fuck that shit mang. Time for Bears to do some fuckin work! BEARDOWN!

  • Also, whether Peanut holds Calvin down or not, not sure I really care.

Peterson ran for 200 yds against the Pack, and they still got dominated.

Now, that assumes our Bear O can get going, and if it can't, it's gonna be a tight ass game and not bode too well for us heading into the playoffs.

But who knows? Maybe in the playoffs Tice switches back to the Martz high-risk high-reward system which Cutler could never survive for 16 games, but for 4 games? hells yes.

  • Bear down! Get to the playoffs and anything can happen. Got my new Da Bears Blog shirt on for the first time today like some others. Tailgating on the couch getting fired up for the game.

  • I was going to post this later tonight, but...

Here is a very rare, one-of-a-kind performance of San Franciscan Nights by Eric Burdon & The Animals, circa 1968:

There are other versions available on the intertubes, but this is the only one with decent sound, thanks to the awesome audio restoration abilities of M. Onan Batterload.

Get it while you can. The HFA hit Mr. Batterload with a copyright violation the minute he uploaded it. He appealed, but the HFA is relentless:

And YouTube just recently forced Mr. Batterload to delete his favorite Monty Python clip (sniff).

  • Stafford gets crushed early in the game, Tillman's job is that much easier.

Melton, play up to your mouth and this game is in the bag.

I want Marshall to get 200 yards in receiving, too.

    Santa, please make another stop?

  • "dabearsblog Now seeing Emery quotes on Lovie. Yea, he's coming back."

Fuck maaaan. Oh well, was expected I guess. A girl could dream for a little while.

Fuck it... Go packers! Season of destiny.

  • who wants to have some fun?

I already shot him this question: "if we lose and/or miss the playoffs, is emery going to finally instill some accountability in this org and get us a coaching staff that can get us to the show, and to the playoffs more consistently than once every 3-5 years? Please god."

  • In reply to MB30SD:

They probably wont answer on account that they are scared of you! LOL

  • Bears - 31
    Lions - 21

It's do or die....let's make it happen Bears!

    BEAR DOWN!!!

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmbears.

  • Kalil, BALL SECURITY, please.

  • The season hinges on beating a bunch of scumbags. You can do this. Bear down!

  • Anyone have a link for the game today?

  • In reply to Sirwiz:

  • In reply to tobijohn:

  • In reply to Sirwiz:

  • frm Jay Glazer right now on espn...

    Forte - IN
    Melton - IN
    Lach - OUT

... for packers, cobb is OUT

  • In reply to MB30SD:

also, I thought frank caliendo was absolute un-funny dogshit... my god, these two new guys make caliendo look like eddie fucking murphy in his prime.

    Wow, so fucking turrible.

  • jimmy just picked up, howie picked the pussies

  • I will NOT root for the Fudgers today. Can't do it. I have sacrificed a significant number of chickens to the football gods. It WILL be enough. Go Bears!

  • In reply to MikeV in OR:

Chickens aren't enough. You need a couple sheep, goats or calves...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

And sorry, buffalo wings don't count as chickens...

jamming with my boy to this video. i covered is ears on the swear parts. he was bouncing and exclaimed, "man, marshall and jeffrey are going to fucking kill the lions"....he's 1.

  • Not sure you got the "earmuffs" on in time there Johnny.

  • Man i need a link before the game starts

  • In reply to Sirwiz:

    Got it thanks

  • In reply to Sirwiz:

    BTW, where are you?

  • In reply to tobijohn:

  • Bang! Bang!

  • Alshon (don't call me Jeffries) Jeffrey!

  • I thought that one was overthrown. Guess not!

  • There's the obligatory wasted TO.

  • In reply to Shady:

fucking retarded... aplogies to all the great kids with mental dissabilities out there for comparing them to tice/lovie.

  • fucken a man. Why are we the only team in the nfl that I ever see doing that shit on a reg basis?

  • smh fucking offense.

  • Queue the Benny Hill theme song....

  • A 55 yard pass followed by 4 snaps going the other way.

  • are you fucking kidding me?!?!?!?!

our o is the fucking keystone cops. Fucking pathetic. jesus.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Cutler somehow managed to knock the ball out of his OWN hands.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • I've counted about 6 missed tackles on defense fo far.

  • I hate to tell you guys this, but this team is a sloppy mess. Jesus.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

That's what an incompetent coaching staff will buy you.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

yeah I agree MB. I read a story this morning that Bears management has grown weary of the inconsistent play under the Lovie regime. His future with the team hinges on todays game, and if we make the playoffs how far we advance. I think one and done, Lovie will be done.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    You don't say...

  • Lovie's team coming completely flat out of the gate, as usual.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    they reflect their coaches demeanor.

  • Terrible rule.

  • If not a fumble why not grounding?

  • how do you call that an incomplete pass with a straight face. The incorrect call caused points on the board so now it's affecting the game. what the fuck is going on here? he tried to pull it in with his left hand. That's a motherfucking goddamn fumble.

  • Hate the rule all you want, but the call was right.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

i love you but go fuck yourself. just because the NFL rules committee got paid off by the Robert Kraft lobby doesn't mean it's football. It's an obvious fumble and attempt with the other hand to control the ball when his wrist turned over when he wasn't going to pass. What fucking idiot rules committee somehow passed this rule after 1 idiot proposed it? oh yeah, the NFL rules committee.

  • BBBBUUULLLLSSSSHHHIIITTT!! He lost control of the ball...that's a goddamned fucking fumble!!!!!

  • Hesters returns lack the same conviction in his running than earlier in his career. Thats what being set for life will do for some guys.

  • Beauty Earl!!!

  • nice!!!!!!!!!!

  • Uh, hello, Mr. Bennett!

    Where did THAT come from?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

earl has been and is the man. injuries this year have set him back. he's the fastest guy that no one says is fast. he's the toughest guy no one says is tough, he's the guy that makes plays when people say it's impossible. that's why he got the extension. because he is a football player. season of destiny.

  • I love Earl.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

+a lot. Jersey my daughter wears...

  • Wide Reciever Screen.... worked?

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    against the Lions...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    but it was still pretty!

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    'cause it was Earl

  • The good news today is that the Lions secondary still sucks tremendous balls.

  • Joe Anderson is HOWNGRY!

  • Anderson is exhibit #2340 for Toub getting a HC job next year..

  • 3rd and short, Forte up the middle. Of course.

  • In reply to Shady:

    Was thinking the same thing...

  • In reply to Shady:

Yeah, they'll never see it coming. Least creative rushing attack in the league.
Oh well, 10-3. I'm trying to be positive here.

  • In reply to Shady:

    Works every time.

  • "Pay the man" cannot make two yards for a first down.
Eat shit and bark at the moon Matt.

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

    24 carries, 103 yds, TD
    2 receptions, 21 yds
    Game clinching first down

    Fuck off

  • Maybe Lovie could teach his D to tackle at least.

  • Evan Rod sighting for a sec. He looks elusive enough to gain yards if he keeps getting the ball and a little more time.

  • F1nally...

  • Bell is a nice change of pace to Forte. He sees a hole and hits it. North-South, no dancing.

  • GOOD effort

  • great presence by Jeffrey on where the 1st down is...

  • Alshon has some heart in there!

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

    O yeah!

  • WTF is up with these early TO's!?

  • In reply to OsosFan:

    Don't watch the Bears much?

  • Love the fact they are being aggressive in the passing game...
Not so much in love with our inability to get the ball snapped with any sense of urgency.

But this is the season of destiny.

  • How on earth was that not a late hit on Jay?

  • Looks like the refs are letting the Lions hit Cutty late.

  • Cheap shot on Cutler, wtf?!

  • C'mon offense let's step it up. Quit trying to throw to Marshall all the time..keep spreading it around.

  • Who is the "color" commentator on the game? What an idiot.

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

    Kenny, Moose and Goose.

  • Why does the offense always seem to just crap out?

Marshall limping on the sideline. Not good.

  • Jesus Mare, dafuq was that?

  • missing 43yard field goals indoors is difficult to do.

  • Hey . It was a STRATEGIC miss/. Set-up Izzy fumble.

  • Ole, ole ole!

  • IZZY and GHOST Peppers!

  • C'mon O get your shit together.

  • Yet another dropped TD pass by MArshall.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Cutler would have about 30 TDs this season if his receivers could catch the ball.

  • Kellen Davis time. C'mon let's see it...

  • Forte up the middle. Untouched. TD bitches.

  • How'd they do that? And why haven't they done it before?

  • Finally..good grief....

  • Let "The Fridge" run it in - ok - Forte! You just cannot beat consistent performance.

  • Do the Lions get a "high" draft pick if they lose?

If so, maybe their cars are, in fact, idling in the parking lot.

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

Yes, I think it's supposed to be worth about ten spots.

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

Depending on results they can pick anywhere between 3rd and 9th.

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

They could get as high as 3rd if they lose.

  • Timmy J, ANOTHER pick! woooooooo

  • Tim Jennings, bitches!

  • A Jennings pic and this idiot commentator says "I'm not sure what happened here?"...

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

Yeah, that was a terrible pass by Lesbo Lips.

  • Damn is the O playing for a FG?

  • In reply to Sirwiz:

    Before half

  • C'mon offense....the time is now...get it done RIGHT!!!!!

  • Are we having fun yet?

  • Stafford has to be THE most overrated QB in the league. On course for a record high number of pass attempts, leading the league in pick 6's, no pocket awareness and Tebow level bad throwing mechanics.

It's a disgrace that he is in the company of Marino, Brees and Brady with his yardage from last year.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

C'mon--Stafford sidearms the ball MUCH better than Tebow... of course, I can't remember the last time Tebow threw the ball, so I could be wrong...

  • Dropped passes again...damn!!!

  • Note to Mare - just a half a click to the right now and you're dead center.

  • The Offense has had 10, 9 and 22 yard opening positions thanks to the defense (TD, 2 FGs)...

  • Stafford has lips like Clara Bow.
Despite poor throws, D.W. Griffith would have loved M. Stafford.

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

+40 for your 1920's lesbian references.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • We really have to get this tackling cleaned up.

  • Marshall had a great block on the TD pass (I missed it live)

  • NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How does that happen? How do you allow someone to run right past you at the end of the half for a TD? C'mon TIM!

  • In reply to Shady:

The Safety was supposed to be there. Jennings was handing him off to Conte. Only Conte isn't there and Walters is apparently clueless

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Johnnywad:

and he doesn't tackle very well

  • In reply to Big Mike:

unlike Conte, but I guess you meant that

  • Prevent defense!

  • That Durham kid is decent...but still.

  • before I looked at the draft saying $4260, I have faith father in law woz like they say actually receiving money part-time at there computar.. there neighbour started doing this less than twenty two months and recently took care of the morgage on their home and got a gorgeous BMW M3. I went here,

  • In reply to caroljoyce449:

Keep that spamming shit outta here.... Or we will kill you.

  • In reply to caroljoyce449:

Why don't you do us a favor and take your "computar" and throw it in the garbage.

  • Bears gave Lions a reason not to give up. Still can't believe how easy that TD was at the end of the half. Fack!

  • fb_avatar

Stupid touchdown at the end. Bears need to keep playing offense like they are down.

  • someone tell tice that bennett didn't die on the sidelines after that td. it's ok to run some additional underneath shit for him.

  • + a bunch. Earl

  • Ugh. +3 in turnover battle and only up 20-10.

    Trying to stay positive.

Are there any playoff scenarios whereby the Bears make playoffs and they only face teams that have a sub-500 record? :)

    Otherwise they are doomed.

  • In reply to bajeezes:

  • Pisser to give one up at the end. The crowd has been completely dead. Let's come out and score and keep them out of the game.

  • I swear, the fekkin FOX crew treats our team like we are Rodney Dangerfield.

  • HI GUYS! I AM BIG BEAR FAN, go Marshall! Time for Bandwagon, yes?

  • In reply to #15 Bears Fan:

  • Devin, get your fucking head in the game.

  • Just take a fucking knee from now on Hester!

  • this weeks glass
    of kool-aid
    has just been
    spiked with a dose
    of the laxidazical
    to end the
    must win game's
    1st half
    certainly a half
    that was a micro-cosm
    of our 2012 season
    start tight
    then fade into
    incompetance of good cheer
    a heavenly sign
    just appeared at the door
    RUDY! RUDY! RUDY!!!!
    has come to fix
    the inter netservice
    upgrading my commentary
    from fox news drivel
    to educated grumblings
    from anxious bears faithfull

  • I know people are sick of hearing me say this, but get Hester OFF the team!

  • Alshon looks like a #1 today.

  • hester has in-decisiveness
    he has been stricken
    with this lingering illness
    all season long

  • Here it comes.......

  • We're going to lose this one, aren't we?

  • In reply to Ufficio:

  • Here's an idea, how about we not allow Calvin Johnson a free release? mmkay?

  • Add another epic collapse to the Lovie Smith resume.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Still winning, lighten the fuck up.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

I've seen this film too many times before. I know how it ends.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    Thank you.

  • So what's gonna be gonna god damn do something odr just piss another game away! Take Hester out and let Wheems try, had enuf of Devin.

  • Just my guess but Detroit gets a turn over here.

  • thought the D
    would come out
    but...that was weak
    opening the half
    with prevent
    will put our season
    to bed before
    this qtr. is over

  • That would've been a great spot for a fake.

  • Why is it he always runs the fucker up the middle when outside is working.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

  • Ravens pull quarterback and best running back. Does the NFL fine them like the NBA.?

  • 4th Lions turnover, do something offense.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • If we didn't have these turnovers....

  • fb_avatar

Why would you want the Bears to make the playoffs? They are not a playoff team. They cannot score and even though their D is very good, they are simply not a playoff team this year. They should save themselves the embarassment of a wildcard blowout loss and go home for the winter. Leave the playoffs for the teams that deserve it like the Packers and Patriots. This isnt the NBA, average teams should be left out.

  • Why not wait and throw into TRIPLE coverage.

  • is it because we
    can't get a yard
    when we need it
    that lovie never
    uses the phrase
"we get off the bus running"
lovie stopped usinto even get out of
    the backfieldg
    and that's when
    we stopped being able

  • He wasn't touched after recovering that fumble. Refs cost us 4 pts.

  • fb_avatar

Hi old buddy tobijohn....... How bout them Bears???

  • We can't win this way...a field goal for 2 touchdowns.

  • Finally, an open-field tackle.

  • Offense needs to stop fucking about and score a TD on this drive. Enough nonsense.

  • Again, c'mon offense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fb_avatar

Look at the bright side, If all you Bears fans need something to watch wildcard week you can always watch the Vikes play lol

  • fb_avatar

Cutler is such a Biiiiiitch Man I almost feel sorry for u guys...ALMOST

  • Kellen fucking Davis SUCKS!!

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Seriously. Just catch the ball bro.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

When even this booth crew realizes he sucks ass, you know it's glaringly obvious.

  • that's three touchdowns lost from drops today!!!!

  • Nice volleyball spike by Cutler.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    Vanderbilt smarts right there.

  • Marshall is having a brutal game.

  • 4 touchdowns.

  • Now is the time to get some

    Fred Biletnokoff stickum on...

About four buckets should do it.

  • it is good
    to see earl bennett
    playing ball today
    one more drive
    of five minutes
    will put 'er on ice

  • Stupid, stupid, stupid. C'mon Briggs.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • Shitty penalty!!!!!

  • Fuck me.

  • Bullshit call on Wright. Safety cant hit anyone in the middle of the field.

  • No idea what that penalty was for - I really don't get it.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

they once again incorrectly assumed that there was head to head contact. they were once again incorrect. this is out of control.

  • Unbelievable, and yet utterly predictable.

  • We lose by one then?

  • This is where the dropped passes gonna kill us.

  • so it comes down
    to our offense
    will it be an
    epic finish
    punctuated by heart
    c'mon bears
    play with some passion

  • Cutler needs to take the game by the balls here.

  • we can't have 3 incorrect calls resulting in 10 pts decide this game. it's just not right to have a 9 billion dollar league continue to mess this up. this is out of control.

  • What were the three calls?

  • Well CRAP on cracker.

This game has 27-26 written all over it.

And the Bears are sooo due to turn it over.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Whew. I soo love being wrong.

  • the league has to address this madness.

  • Fuck me in the ass with a hot stick.

    CMON BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If you would have ventured a little further north during your visit, that very well could have happened! hahahaha

  • Stafford has become pretty enamored of side-arming it. And missing.

  • Must be nice to have a TE that actually catches the ball.

  • Let's go Tice. One fucking drive. Just one.

  • we need better
    guarantee plays
    there is nothing
    in tice's repetoire
    that guarantees
    every time
    we still look
    like a team trying
    to figure it out

  • the league has to address this madness

  • Another outstanding return effort by Hester

  • just fuck the refs and get a first down and end it

  • 3rd and 3 with the game on the line.... CUTTY!

  • Cutty's backpack's got jets.

  • not running out of bounds
    priceless jay

  • In reply to Shady:

    Yes, fuck the Forte haters.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

dave, he's gotta get the tough yards earlier that don't result in us having to win by 2. That would have been helpful earlier in the year so it doesn't come down to us needing the pussy ass packers to not be pussies. A used car salesman on GB runs like he has a gun to his head. We need that kind of aggression in our running back.

  • Forte's gotta get his due for that run.

  • jay is my guy. done. team of destiny.

  • Wow

  • fox's
    bears psycho-analysis
    about how we fare
    when the playoffs
    are upon us
    complete and utter

  • In reply to The Void:

Moose Johnson shitting all over the Bears win.

  • In reply to Shady:

as he fucking should. that was so fucking pathetic. fucking a I'm sick of watching this fucking trainwreck.

They GAVE us the opty to put 40+ point on the board.

Fucking disgusting. Our o is SO bad. For fuck sake man

  • In reply to The Void:

I dunno. It all makes sense to me.

4 to ZIP turnover margin and the Lions were STILL in this game to the bitter end. No Lions or Cardinals to face in the post-season.

The Bears continue to play to form.

    Beat the doormats.

    Struggle with the contenders.

Want to shut up the pundits?

    Beat somebody good.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

And there's still no guarantee the will GET another chance this year to beat somebody good.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    "Beat somebody good"?

    Bears beat Colts--playoff team.
Bears beat Vikes (at home)--playoff team
Bears beat Dallas--playing for NFC East title

And when I write "beat," I should say "destroy"

It's more typical Bears form to bat some really good teams, and then choke a game or two against doormats.

  • Forte just earned half his pay for today....

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

Locked in at least another 3 hours of the season.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

HUGE does not adequately describe that effort.

  • Sorry Calvin Johnson, no 2,000 yards for you!

  • In reply to Shady:

    hee hee

  • In reply to Shady:

It is a shame that such a great guy like Johnson is stuck rotting away in Detroit.

  • the league has to address this madness. this shit cost us 10 points today. no doubt there will be another "i'm sorry" letter from the NFL.

"The NFL deeply regrets trying to fuck you out of a playoff spot. We appreciate you not making us really address it by winning though."

  • Bye bye, Schwartz, you magnificent psycho.
It was fun despising you and your team.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

You think the Ford family is going to eat THREE YEARS worth of his contract which was just extended in June to 2015 ???

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Al, if you think they ARE NOT considering firing him, then I don't know what to tell you.
His job status is absolutely in doubt right now. You don't get to play a bunch of #1 draft picks into the basement of the NFC North WHILE accumulating bad league juju like crazy AND keep your job, no matter your fucking they may NOT pull the trigger but you're nucking futs if you think the Ford family isn't seriously thinking about it. A losing hand is a losing hand no matter how long you hold on to it...and Schwartz is a losing hand.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Except these are the same people who paid Matt Millen to ruin their team for years.

  • Exhibit A:
    Steve Mariucci and his contract/firing.

It has happened before and will be happening again with the Lions.

  • unlike previous weeks
    we did not
    self destruct
    in the face of adversity
    we made the plays
    we needed
    although...we left alot
    of plays on the field
    this is cause for

  • In reply to The Void:

    jesus hunti, seriously?

I'm fucking disgusted. Can you imagine the score if we were good.

    Fuck man.

  • In reply to The Void:

This win was a character builder. If the Bears get to the playoffs they can do some damage by making a few more plays.

  • And here we are...rooting against the Vikings.

  • Or we win by two then.

  • And another good showing by the defense , and they bail out the shitty offense, again!! C'mon Vikings...LOSE!!!!!

  • Halfway there. Goat Cheese.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

I see what you're doing there. Well done. Pass the goat cheese please

  • Da Bears!

So, how does one root against a team? Like, what do we chear? It can't be "Go Packers". So does that mean it's "Suck Harder Vikings"?

    So be it.

Suck Harder Vikings! Play horribly! You can't do it!

  • I think someone said earlier this week that we are in with a Queens/Pack tie... Fingers crossed, but that has heart attack written all over it.

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we can safely root for a tie, but I'm off to the playoff calculator to make sure.

  • Forte, playing hurt and badly misused most of the season comes through huge in the end.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Yes. And too many people here wanted to trade him. What is it that you want from him?

  • Dang MB, you'd think we lost reading your post. I had a blast watching that game. 4 F'n turnovers man!

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

Yeah but the Bears didn't cover!

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

    jesus, you fucking guys.

Ok, you ready for this... ok, here you go....

You're fucking welcome to your mediocre garbage team getting places by shear fucking luck. you think we were god today?

that lions team is such dogshit and our D had to once again bail us out. Moose was right, as much of a douche as he is... this o is fucking putrid and tice has zero idea how to use our weapons. Angelo has raped us for years to come and we’re going to give lovie a 3-5 year extension. Jesus fucking christ.

I'm fucking tired of it. The Kool-Aid tastes great, but the reality of our situation sucks ass man. We're not a good football team save our insane D (most of the time at least) and that’s the way lovie’s team are by definition. You want this same shit for another 3 years. Not me.

Yeah, I 100% wanted the win today… but fucking a what I saw drove me crazy. This team, with this D should have put up 40+… do frustrating. Classic lovie football (aka, garbage)

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Yeah, we could have had 40, But I will take 26 and the W. I had a blast watching. Just the fact that we could have had 40 keeps me hopeful for what the playoffs could bring.

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

that's my issue... when the cup's empty, all that's left is a sugar crash hangover and lovie fucking smith.

How's that for a dose of cruel fucking reality end?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    We won, MB.
Against a division rival that wanted to end our season.
    In their house.
When our #1 receiver shit the bed.
When our defense earned 3 turnovers (one was a total gift), but gave up back-to-back 80 yard TD drives.

When Cutler played within his limits - *finally* played an intellectually brilliant game when it fucking counted.

    Don't hate it, compadre. Please.

  • I'd play the Packer fight song but, as fight songs go, it really stinks out loud.

  • we can't talk about 3 incredibly terrible calls that cost us 10pts. We can't talk about that because it's whining. Just let the incorrect game changing calls keep coming. they let the kids play on the edges and that's fine....until you are holding the WR's arms down in the endzone.

    This has to be addressed.

Now i'm hearing Howie Long talk about a one dimensional offense winning in detroit.....except the majority of the passing yards didn't come from marshall....don't let facts get in the way of the story Howie.

Davis, catch the motherfucking ball in the endzone. If you aren't going to do it between the 20's at least do it where you can which is in the endzone.

fuck everyone. go pack. team of destiny. my only hope is that Tice watches some film about what short crossing routes do when run by our 3 top guys. everything doesn't have to be a perfect sideline route perfectly thrown in order to be successfull.

    go pack, fuck everyone.

  • On e of the issues I think the NFL wanted in their tussle with the regular refs was, in essence, the right to fire incompetent refs. I'm not sure if that made it into the final agreement...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

highly doubt that made it into the final agreement. the goal was jobs into perpetuity and income into perpetuity.

  • Forte was huge and Cutler played well, but the most encouraging part of the Bears victory were the role players who stepped up. Jeffrey to start the game, Bennett taking it 60 yds to the house. Encouraging play from the #2 and #3 guys. If they get an opportunity in the postseason, it's nice to know they have other options besides Cutler to Marshall.

  • In reply to Shady:

word. call howie long and explain.

  • In reply to Shady:

Davis still didn't show up. And I hope he doesn't show up on the 3013 roster either. A LOT of decent FA TEs next year...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

2013 roster, I meant. I think Jack Lacan will be the only one of us around for the 3013 season. I'm pretty sure he's Fulcanelli....

  • In reply to Shady:

    Right on, Shady.

    And fuck the Forte hate.

  • And Drew Brees is singlehandedly sinking my Da Bears Blog League Two Fantasy Championship Super Bowl Game battleship. Where are you Willie G?!?

  • If Kellen Davis is targeted one more time I will literally shit a solid gold brick. Fuck that big asshole

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

Is it okay, if I grab that turd and run?

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Assuming Irish is not there first?

  • Anyone see Joe Anderson cause that fumble early in the game???

Joe wants to get paid. Give the kid a shot. Hester/done. Thanks for what you did in the past. Now you are just a liability. You managed to get tackled on a kickoff on the 3 yd line. how the fuck does that happen?????????????????

    The 3yd line Devin.

  • Really, just step back and let it be a touchback...

  • Simply. No one making a fucking block

  • MB and some others,

I hear your frustration and I see the logic of your doubt. But as a favor, and I say this kindly, can we please wait until we're out of the tournament before we put a fork in this team?

The Bears are not the Cubs. We need positive un-cub-fan like optimism and belief in the possibility of Space Mountain. If the whole city and huge Chicago Bears fan base put their mental energy toward believing we will win, I believe, The Bears can do anything.

C'mon Chicago Bears Fans. We NEED all the positive energy we can muster through today's game and ALL THE WAY through the postseason.

Give our guys a chance to fight!

  • Fuck yeah

  • I love how every commentator in the planet talks how the Bears have 0% chance to advance in the playoffs. These are the circumstances when our team plays the best!
    Go Pack! Fuck!

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

Nobody ever expects the butterfly... muahahaha

  • In reply to Shady:

    Haha, classic!

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

Leading up to the game you read almost 0 about the Beloved in the national media. Usually that's a good thing for the Bears.

  • 5 yards a waste of a challenge in that situation?

  • Nice sack by Sparkles.

  • this is not going as i thought it would.......

  • Cobb beng out hurts. On the bright side, the Packers are getting good pressure on Ponderous, and Rodgers is Rodgers.

  • Pack were Dow 14 to lions early, and took care of them readily.

    Painful watching this though.

  • Where are our Packer trolls? Are the Packers looking particularly bad today, or is this normal in their wins?

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

Lions cannot pound you with the best back in football.

  • I can't watch this shit.

  • Packers playing like pussies. Guaranteed one and done in the playoffs.

You can't lose 2 games on 3 dropped TD's and then hope for a team of fucking pussies to win one for you. Gotta do it yourself.

Time for the Packers defense to stop playing like Ponder is Joe Montana.

  • In reply to Julia Brown:

Did she just win the Nigerian Lottery, too?

  • ballsy if they go for 4th and 11 from where they are...

  • Horseshit ref calls continuing from bears game into anti-bears karma in Vikings game.

  • pack playing like fags

  • Cutler's best game as a Bear.
    Forte - fine game, again.

All for nothing. Packers suck and will lose.

Really trying with the Season of Destiny, Johnny. Really trying - but the Packers are the most useless team in the universe. And when they lose, expect the trolls to be here.

Do fucking NOT, under ANY circumstance, reply. I've done the destiny for you - do the starving for me.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

  • I had forgotten what a real punt return looks like.

  • dajuan harris is why you don't pay running backs money

  • Don't win this game for me, Packers. Don't even win it for the Bears. Win it for my dear departed grandfather from Mellen, WI...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

if they dont score on 1st and goal from the 3 i have to turn the game off.

  • ....and the game remains on in the house of Waffle

  • I sure hope our fate doesn't come down to a Mason Crosby field goal attempt...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Mason Crosby or David Akers?

And rememberm DEATH is not an option.

BTW, Akers just missed his 12th attempt of the year to tie him with...MASON CROSBY!

  • Vikings look motivated.

Packers look like they want a rematch next week in Cheeseville.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

So if the Pack wins and SF loses, we play Seattle?

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    That's my understanding as well.

  • This game is fucking surreal.

  • holy shit, even non catches are catches. the football gods are testing my destiny theory. holy shit NFL refs, stop FUCKING UP.

  • dude, are the fucking vikings furreal? WTF?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

packers playing like pussies and vikings getting phantom catches that are drops to extend 60yd drives.

i guess the NFL refs are sticking their dicks in my destiny.

  • and when rodgers plays like ponder you have no chance

  • hahaha! all because you can only challenge so many incorrect calls per half.

  • This has me chuckling away despite how tragic the game has been.

  • This is pathetic.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

3 dropped TD passes man. The thin line between success and failure.

Packers, if they don't get the bye, are one and done embarassments again.

  • They're just getting traction. Packers win this thing man. This will be a three point game early in the third.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

i'm heading to an anniversary dinner.

MB, if the pack wins text me. if they don't....don't.

  • Debating whether to head out and watch the FudgeQueen game.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Only if there's a local bar full of Vikings fans. Looks like Packers are returning to their mean..

  • The tide seems to have turned in this one.

  • GB's defense is complete crap.

  • tobijohn -Out of the Lazarus Pit watching the Packers pretend to be the 2011 Giants...but Rodgers just cooled off the stadium. After further review...

  • The refs can't keep fucking this up. They fucking messed up again. This is out of fucking control!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why didn't McPiggy's flag nullify the review, a la Schwartz?

  • Dan Fouts IS Dr. Zarkov.

  • McPigboy, you're such a useless cunt.

  • Well, that was pretty fucking bizarre.

  • Wow. The rules suck, the officials suck.

  • this fucking league fucking sucks with these gay ass fucking rules and challenge rules and shitty fucking officiating.

  • Check - that's the Vikings Jared Dickweed as Dr. Zarkov.

  • I would love to hear what the argument was for this stupid rule in the first place.
What is the harm in throwing the challenge flag?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Delaying so that the review booth has more time to look at the play before the next snap.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Uh, but if the review will take place anyway, then again, what is the harm?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Because it won't necessarily take place anyway.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

All turnovers are booth reviewed, and all scoring plays are reviewed.
    So...what am I missing?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Yeah, you're right. I guess that was the rationale for the rule in the last two minutes, but there's no reason for it to carry over to these situations.

However, how difficult is it to not throw a challenge flag in these situations?

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    Evidently, pretty tough!

  • In reply to Ufficio:

In those situations, you want justice. The justice centers of your brain are on overload. The place in your brain where petty little nonsensical rules are stored gets shouted down, and you throw the flag because you're a human being, not a fucking lawyer.

  • Regardless of the stupidity of the rule, how the fuck did McCarthy not know it, given that the same thing happened in his own division a month ago?

I think Lovie just won the title of best coach in the NFCN.

  • Isn't it time for Rodgers to break all the hearts at Mayo Clinic, St. Paul and Minneapolis

  • "Nothing is over" - Rambo

  • wow, packers fucking suck

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

You knew that MB. So did I. Packers losing this game was guaranteed

  • Christian Ponder does not bark at the moon.

  • Fucking destiny? Packers pissing all over themselves to the point that their pussiness has surpassed destiny.

Other side of the field personal foul???????????

    I'm out.

  • Sadly ironic if the Vikings beat the Packers from Suckville, Wis.

Clay Matthews goes for a Breck commercial - Vikings score -

    Pack sucks for sure.

It's the fans, the horn, the refs, the league, the rules...

Time for some mozzarella to melt.

Rams playing Seahawks better than the Packers.

  • Can the Cowboys actually make the playoffs and not the Bears?

    Definitely back up the truck.

I have seen enough shit for one day.

  • GB defense is fricking putrid.

  • That was absolutely boneheaded.

  • .......

  • Fuck the Pack

  • Missed the playoffs by about two feet.

  • Poor AP. If they would not have been in playoff contention, he could have taken one last snap. 10 yards to the endzone, and he needed about that for the record.

Amazing season for him. I hope they do serious damage in the playoffs. Including beating the Packers, again.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

I kind of wish that he would have broken that last run for a TD, given that they were going to win anyway....would have been a fitting close to the regular season for them.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

  • The Vikings earned it and deserved it. Adrian Peterson is a fucking beast.

  • Watching the packers defensive backs inexplicably run backwards pre-snap on 3rd and 11 instead of just forcing a punt with 2 minutes left was special.

  • Oh well. Let's go Texans?

  • Alright.

    Commence rioting.

  • the next 8 months are going to be unbearable here in Chicago. Prepare for the most outlandish fucking shit reporting and commentary you've ever heard.

  • I say Bears fan should go to Green Bay and burn their town down.

  • In reply to CubsTalk:

We would do tens of dollars worth of damage!

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    Nicely done, sir.

  • Fire Lovie Smith

    And screw Green Bay

I just knew it they were going to blow this game.

  • Fucking Packers.

Why couldn't they play that shitty against the Bears?

    Fucking Packers.

  • Thank you Green miserable fucking PUKES!!!!!!

  • So I'm rooting for a SF-Broncos/Indy Superbowl.

I think I'll actually root for Indy to win.

  • I really want to see Denver play Indy in a playoff game. And I think I'd like to see the Niners or the Seahawks win the big one. I really like the football both teams are playing.

Would also really enjoy watching the Pack lose to either Seattle or Minny in the playoffs. Seattle because of what happened earlier in the season. Minny because it would be the same thing that happened to us a couple of years ago. Fail to cut the head off the division rival in week 17, only to watch that rival turn around and beat you in the playoffs.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

I hate Pete Carroll's smug face waaay too much to want the Seahawks to do anything but lose horribly in the playoffs.

SF has a former Bear coach, which is good enough for me to root for them to the SB.

But I'd prefer Denver or Indy to win it all. Despite the slobber on his knob, I like Manning.

  • I had enough of Lovie and his coaches.....we need a tough more of these soft spoken talking boys....we had the players under Lovie, now it is a rebuilding process.

  • Fire Lovie.
    Fire Tice.
    Fire Drake.

  • Urlacher, your ass is out here and Lovie can hold hands as the door hits in your ass as you both leave.

  • If we would have beat ONE playoff team all year, we'd be in the playoffs.

Lovie's ineffectiveness to win against winning team is the reason we're out of the playoffs, AGAIN, and I hope they fire him for it, but doubt it.

  • You mean like the Vikings?

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

We beat the Pack at home, we're in.
We beat the Texans at home, we're in.
We stop a rookie Seattle QB from marching 98 yds in a minute, we're in.

  • Just pointing out that the Bears DID beat a playoff team. Two, in fact.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

Well, if the Cowboys win tonight, I guess we could count them.

But I was talking more about teams not the Vikes, who did beat the Texans and Pack.

    That was the difference.

  • Colts are in. Vikes are in. If Dallas beats Washington, that makes three.

  • How do the Redskins or Dallas get in if Dallas wins. We have a better record?

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

    Division winner my friend.

  • In reply to CubsTalk:

Ok, with the same overall record..ok..but if we have one more overall win,,then no..everyone has an equal chance in the beginning...this isn't fucking 6yr olds playing tag football so everyone get's a chance..this is suppose to be the big time pro''s W's and L's first..,then deal with the other stuff.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

The Divisions system is maybe a little bit overweighted, but I understand it. Since everyone can't play everyone in a season, and homefield advantage can really change some games, they get small groups that really have the chance to play a lot of common opponents plus each other in both stadiums and you can at least say that those groups of 4 have picked a best team. That's the theory at least, but I do think its better than a pure most wins gets in system.

  • I watched that shit. Even in defeat, the Packers beat us. Just how bad can it get before I have to go over to the dark side?

    Football season is over.

Johnny, please try your damnedest to not feed the trolls. It was our deal; they will be here in force soon and there are way too many others that will give them the satisfaction of a reply.

  • I like to see some of our Defense members take out Green Bay Rodgers next season......really, everyone was going after Cutler....time to put the hurt on other team QB's.........we need hard hitting, dirty players to put the hurt on other teams.

  • In reply to CubsTalk:

    Lovie would never "allow" that.

That's why no one fears us. Not even a little.

Apparently, the Bears are buddy buddy with everyone - even high-fiving them when they make good plays.

  • Hire that Oregon college coach before someone else does!

  • Back in early September, who would have possibly guessed that the Vikings beat us for a playoff spot?

Gotta hand it to them... I sure hope if they play Green Bay again they win about 200-0.

  • For those who are curious, we will be picking at #20 in the draft. I'm not sure, but I believe losing today would have kept us in the exact same spot or possibly dropped us to #19 if the Redskins beat Dallas, and #18 if Dallas wins.

With that said, I am glad we won. It is a much better way to end the season. We have the best record of any team that missed the playoffs, better or tied with several playoff teams for that matter. We need to get better, but we will be competitive in 2013. This is not a rebuild, we will contend.

My complete off-season plan to follow once the trolls dissapear and we get a new thread.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

"We have the best record of any team that missed the playoffs"

I can almost gauran-dam-tee Lovie will use this to try to save his job.

Like last year's "We've been to the playoffs one out of the last two years" B.S.

At #20, we can definitely get a quality RT or TE.

But yeah, we can discuss that in another thread. Sort of curious who you would want at that spot.

  • Lots of FA TEs next year. Don't know about FA RTs:

  • In reply to tobijohn:

not surprisingly I know ALL about FARTs tobi

  • Another season of almost and too little to late.

I really wish I could say I'm surprised and I won't be at least surprised if Lovie keeps his job...

  • In reply to Bears-4-Ever:

That's the worst part about it - knowing Lovie will be back.

I didn't mind losing last year because it got rid of Angelo.

If missing the playoffs get's Lovie fired, then I'd feel more than compensated.

Sometimes, you gotta lose the battles to win the war.

But the Bears just like winning little skirmishes and cower before superior foes thanks to General Lovie.

  • Have hope, 4ever, Lovie *could* be fired

  • In reply to SC Dave:

I'll bet you a Official Chicago Bears light switch cover plate that Lovie is here next year. Emery was giving him props on a radio interview even before the Detroit game. Cutler doesn't want an other OC and so TIce will be back too....

  • In reply to Bears-4-Ever:

The life of a Bears fan

  • Hats off to the Vikings. We fucking blew this for ourselves. 7-1 to start and we fuckin choked. fuck man.

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

Yes... the Bears choked. Any of Minnesota, Seattle, or GB win would have us in the dance.

Another season of futility. It's so hard being a Bears fan.

    Fuck me.

  • In the woulda coulda shoulda department, let's not leave the Texans out. If they had taken care of their business AT HOME a couple weeks ago, GB would be playing for the bye and the Vikings would be playing for nothing. They could have locked up the #1 AFC bye two weeks ago by beating the Vikings, now they'll be playing next week. As it stands, I hope both they and GB are gone next week...

  • Our third place finish means that next year we'll be playing the Saints at home and the rams away instead of the Panthers at home and the Seahawks away.

2013 Home Opponents: Dallas, N.Y. Giants, Baltimore, Cincinnati,
    New Orleans

Away: Philadelphia, Washington, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, St Louis

  • Sucks maing - would have been fun to head your way for a game at the SeaChickens.

  • Is it to early to call that a 13-3 season? Because I am already sick of talking about this 10 win season.

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

By the way Doc. If the Skins win -3 then I will have 85 points this week in the Pick 'um. Isn't this about the time of year that you blew by everyone last season?

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

I think I finished second. Which is where I'll sit after today.

  • Tough schedule. Based on this season's stats, The only really lousy teams we're playing next year are Detroit and Cleveland. based on our performance this year, we could win or lose any of the rest...

  • that 2012 season
    question arises
    do bears make a
    when they fall
    from a 7-1 precipice
    i shall now climb
    down into the cavern
    created by our fall
if you don't hear from me
    don't come lookin'
    it may take months
    to get to the bottom
    of this great bebacle
    not sure if I will
    find anything salvagable
    to bring back for 2013

  • We should expect some changes in the offensive staff. Somebody has to take the fall. Not sure how they handle Lovie's contract. Either make him go in as a lame duck and see how the team responds or give him a 1-2 year extension. I just don't think Lovie gets fired.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Let us insert Gruden for Tice(Tice back to OL). Maybe if we keep adding head coaches to the staff, something will spark.

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

Gruden has his choice of HC positions around the league--why the hell would he take a 1-year contract as an OC in Chicago?

    That's just plain stupid talk.

  • So he could take over after the implosion.. Emery calls Gruden "Hey John, could you try to help us with our offensive woes for one season? If we win a Super Bowl then maybe you have taught Tice how an O is handled. If we don't win it all and I think you can get a good rapport with a few of our key players, then you can name your price for the foreseeable future."
Thanks for the whole "stupid talk" thing though Bleed.

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

......for the foreseeable future as Head Coach."

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

If I were Emery, I'd wait a while for everyone to cool off. He knows ownership loves Lovie, can't find a decent OC for a potential one year stint, Cutler doesn't want another OC and his contract is up next year too. Leave the status quo which will please the McCaskeys by not doing anything and if those three don't perform in 2013 then nobody in ownership can say scheit and it's your deal free and clear from then on...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

That sounds about right. Who knows? With a decent OL next year we might score a bunch. Not holding my breath on the decent OL part.

  • In reply to tobijohn:

I see why you'd want everyone to cool off. Something tells me though, he will make a subtle announcement in the next day or two saying that Lovie will finish out his contract. He just seems like the kind of guy that is prepared for every scenario(excluding offensive line scenarios).

  • So If Dallas wins tonite then they get a playoff spot because they win their division even though they will be 9 and 7 along with the Redskins and we are 10 and 6 with a better overall record right? So does that mean if we win all our divisional games and go 6 and 10 we get an automatic playoff spot then right.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

Yes, that's how it's always worked. Why are people so shocked and dismayed at the system that's been in place since before most of us were born?

  • Ok, thanks...I didn't realize that..To me it really makes a joke of the fucking Super Bowl then..what's the point. It's suppose to be the best of the best.. But we got to be politically correct in this country first, instead of being the best.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

We are not the best of the best, sad as that is to admit.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

As preposterous as that might sound, yes. Of course, nobody would see us going very far in the playoffs...

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

You wouldnt get in at 6-10. Someone else would win a game or two outside of the division and have a better overall record. The Raiders recently did that, won all their division games but didnt make the playoffs due to having less overall wins.

  • In reply to stats3599:

That was the year the Seahawks got in at 7-9 as I recall. And then the Seahawks won a playoff game.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

No. 6-10 won't win a division. A division rival would have a better record despite losing twice to said team

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

I'm stumped - why can you win a division at 7-9 but not 6-10?

  • Lovie got a vote of confidence from Emery before the game. Lovie also apparently is liked by Virginia. Lovie finished this season 10-6. Lovie's under contract for another year.

Lovie will be with us next year, with a "NFC championship or else" ultimatum.

Tice might be sacrificed, but that won't do much to help the offense next year. No decent o-coord will come onto a sinking ship (the past few years should be proof of that), and a new o-coord might just make things worse (how many new systems have the players had to learn in Lovie's time here?)

  • lovie's not going anywhere next year. same shit diff year for the correct reasons stated above already.

  • my god, the redskin's rushing attack is fucking insane.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

oh and that field looks like twice the dogshit Soldier does

  • In reply to MB30SD:

And with that, I tip my hat to 4v85 for winning the DBB auction league. Tom Brady and Marshawn Lynch both had mediocre days for me. But the thing that killed me was that 4v85 had both the Titans D (36 fantasy points) and Alfred Morris on his starting roster.

I had a breakout player as well. Mike Tolbert put up 22 fantasy points for Carolina. Except he did it from the bench for me. Last week I had Tony Romo (32 points) on the bench in favor of Brady. Football is so hard to predict.

Hats off 4v85. Second year in a row I outscore my league by at least 100 points, but I can't win the big dance. Call me Dan Marino :)

  • reason the bears missed the playoffs? lost too many games.

  • Cutler has said that he wants to keep the same system, Tice may stay but I would bet that Bates takes over as the man calling plays. Overall, the design of the offense wasn't bad, it was just absolute garbage play calling. Tice was too slow causing the team to get out of sync and he really likes to throw on first and run on 2nd, while this isn't a bad strategy please mix it up a bit. I still wish we would give Alex Gibbs whatever he wants to come in and "consult" and put in the zone run scheme, Forte would be an unbelievable zone back. (I'm talking about full on zone run game like the Texans.)

  • Good night Bears, see you in December. Inches from relevance.

By the way, why aren't we using Henry Melton in short yardage looks? Didn't we draft him at RB and convert him to DT?

  • In reply to ben in norcal:

December? Fuck, I meant September, can't blame the iphone for that brain fart.

  • In reply to ben in norcal:

No, Melton was converted from RB in college.

And I would guess the reasons why he's not used in short yardage are:

    1) He's the best DT on the team, and they don't want to use him up on offense.
    2) He might actually be good at it, and so it would make everyone else look bad.

  • I told you that Adrian Peterson would play like a man possessed. Damn, it sucks to be right.

You can win all your divisional games and miss the playoffs. It all depends on your opponents record.

The only way a 6-10 team will ever make the playoffs is if their divisional rivals have a worse record than the 6-10 team. Which could happen but I doubt it and the 6-10 team has to beat everykne

  • In their division. And my phone sent that before I was done but I have good news for you.

Emery now has had a whole offseason and complete season to make some serious changes/impact. I'm kind of excited about it.

  • The last time Adrian Peterson played Green Bay, he ran for 210 yards in 21 attempts for a 10 yard per carry average with 1 TD rushing. This time he got 199 yards in 34 attempts for a 5.9 average with (again) 1 TD rushing.

The difference was Ponder. He had 3 TD's vs. 0 last time; 0 interceptions vs 2 last time; 234 yards vs 119; 8.36 yard avg vs 4.76, 120 rating vs 42.

Green Bay can't stop Adrian Peterson, that's a given. He has FOUR 100 yard games against those assholes this year, and he'll probably get two more in the post season.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

I wonder if any back has ever abused a single team twice in one season as thoroughly as Adrian Peterson abused the Packers this year.

In Eric Dickerson's record-setting season, he didn't get to tee-off to the tune 409 yards against anyone.

Green Bay deserves a special trophy. WORST DEFENSE EVER.

PS: Adrian Peterson is one of the greatest backs ever to play the game. He's a joy to watch. No disrepect intended.

  • Well Lovie, we had enough to get into the play offs, but you fucktard the Vikings and Packers games WERE must wins, not just the last 2, you asshole. All of us knew that but you...the head coach..couldn't figure it out?
Surprized your not throwing the red flag out somewhere now that it's too late!
