Chicago Bears at Arizona Cardinals Game Thread

Chicago Bears at Arizona Cardinals Game Thread

The Chicago Bears can not be eliminated from playoff contention if they beat the Arizona Cardinals this afternoon. But if they want to have a serious opportunity in the seventeenth week of the season, they need some help.

The ideal outcomes:

  1. Minnesota loses to Houston. This is the most essential early outcome as it will eliminate the Vikings from the proceedings and not force Bears fans to root for the Packers in Week 17.
  2. Either Washington loses to Philly or Dallas loses to New Orleans. If one of those teams loses it'll give the Bears a second scenario to advance in Week 17.
  3. New York Giants lose to Baltimore. If the Vikings and Giants lose, the Bears control their own destiny again.

Here's my advice to Bears fans today: enjoy it. Nobody wanted this season to take the turn it has taken but today is a day to embrace the brilliance of the NFL. Folks are fond of saying college football has the best regular season in sports. I dare those folks to make that pitch on a day when more than half the NFL games have playoff relevance.

Bear down.

  • Go Bears.

  • with climate change
    came unpredictable
    shifts in global
    weather patterns
    the severity of the situation
    caused even the most
    offensive bears to
    go into early hibernation
    the city of chicago
    has gathered today
    at the edge of town
    and facing the setting sun
    all citizens let out
    a deafening cry
    WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    and lo and behold
    the bears came back to

  • In reply to The Void:

Wishful thinking I would say....don't hold your breath...

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

Damn you Madd. Knock that shit off. The Bears could be looking at a win next week and you're in scenario and you're pissing in my Cheerios.
Keep bringing it Void. That one really sucked me in. Felt like I was there. Nice work.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

    go away Madd

  • In reply to The Void:

    Wake Up:

This other one's just for you, Hunti:

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

I'm in. Let the ceremony begin...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Wake up, girl!
    We're almost home, yeah.

(Not that you look like a girl or anything. Who was that girl in the picture you posted yesterday? She looks so familiar to me. Was she in a movie or documentary? I swear I've seen her somewhere before).

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

First serious girlfriend. Her name is Lilia Chacon. She had been a reporter and substitute anchor at Fox News in Chicago for years. For the past year or so, a spokesperson for the City of Chicago. Still friends after all these years...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Here's a link:

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    I never forget a Chacon.

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Tobi did you post the coyote fur coat and I missed it?

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

Not yet, gotta find it first. I've got a bunch of other embarrassing pics I could put up, though...

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

    I'm in.
    thanks for that

  • In reply to The Void:

    You're welcome.

  • Same problems this team has had for the duration of Lovie. The window after 2006 is all but closed. Major renovations coming. I'll be watching this because desperation frequently produces notable events . This has been a slow motion trainwreck. Play it out.....

  • In reply to flobflo2114:

Christ on a bike. You guys are the fucking worst today. What are you and Madd gonna do next week if The Beloved are working for a playoff spot? Piss and moan or cheer them on? I'm cheering til they're out. Deal with the other stuff when its over.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

I think after a victory today and the other teams that need to lose losing, next week will be chock full of references to the 2008 finale against the Texans. BTW, "Christ on a bike" is now officially a part of my lexicon....

  • Bears back in AZ for the first time sine the Denny Green meltdown:

Classic. Think Lovie would ever meltdown? nahh

  • In reply to Shady:

I think Lovie would implode into some sort of human black hole...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

human blackhole... yes, the answer to your question is...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Did you just play the RACE card??

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Ha, not intentionally, no. And upon further reflection, not subconsciously either...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    lolololol lets hope so

  • Good Morning Bears Fans. I'm Coma Boy. I got hit by a bus on November 19th during kickoff of the 49ers game. We were 7-2 then.

So....I'm guessing we're playing for a first round bye at this point, right?

  • In reply to Coma Boy:

uhhhh.....yeah.....Coma. We're knocking on the SB door.

Though, if I were you, I'd probably stay away from the sports page for a few days. No reason, know....concussion protocol.

  • Sweeeeet!

Yeah, Doctor's orders. No internet, no newspapers, no t.v. since I awoke from my coma. I'll be listening to the radio feed. I'm breaking the rules just typing this, but I had to stop in and say

So, what is our record now? 13-3? 12-4?

    SuperBowl Baby!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to Coma Boy:

Strike that. 11-3 (to be 13-3) or 10-4 (to be 12-4)?

  • Bush is on IR ??

  • What, you been in a coma too?

The reason he's on IR is a typical Halas Hall Mystery. We have no fucking clue. How're the twins, mang?

  • Hard work brah. I'm a single daddy now, but I've got the twins with me. Little shits are here in the bedroom right now and won't go asleep. How's your tribe?

  • About the same. Youngest turns 1 today!

Happy First Birthday to the Itty Bitty Nitty Gritty!

  • Congrats Doc. If I would have know sooner, I would have sent a chewy toy.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

Thanks but, he's not a lab.

  • Sorry, I meant something to bite on while teething. That sounded bad.

  • hahaha

  • Happy bday little nitty!

  • Happy Birthday to the Doctors little intern!

  • Happy birthday to the bitty Nitty!

Yo, I think I have a Darth Vader shirt of yours? Need to get me your address, maing, so I can send it to ya.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

oh shit. I love that shirt, too.

    docnitty34 at gmail

Speaking of kids. They got me that shirt. I'd very much appreciate it, rabbit. I'll pay the postage.

  • I got it - I was doing laundry and went...wait a second.
I have alot of Star Wars shirts (shocking, I know), but not that one.

  • My little sister saved up her money and bought me a Bears scarf, me not owning much bears gear, It was and still is very special. I love this team and whatever happens we are close to making it to space mountain. ItIt may not be this year, but we are close. I'm going to be rockin this scarf everywhere Da Bears!

  • None of the teams we need to lose seem to be cooperating.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    Really, what's Houston's problem?

  • Vikings are going to win this game. Will the Packers have anything to play for next week?

  • In reply to Ufficio:

They will if Seattle wins today, which is not too unlikely.

  • Even if SF wins today, I think the Packers have a chance at a first round bye (assuming they win today) if they beat the Vikings next Sunday and the 49ers lose to Arizona next week. Fat chance there but the GB-Minn game is first so GB can't assume anything and will have to play to win....

  • Thanks for coming to play today, Houston. Assholes.

  • Is Houston's goal-line offense actually less competent than ours? Amazing.

  • Damn we should have kept Blanchard. I know it was only a pre-season game, but Blanchard was doing pretty decent and wasdff not affraid to be in the pocket with our O-line. Anywho, Space Mountain!

  • packers just destroying titans in every way

  • Looks like we might have lost to a mediocre team after all - Houston...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Mediocre? That's a tad generous.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

You guys know they're 12-3 in a league which is comprised of the 32 best teams in the world right?

  • My daughter just sent me 3 pics from AZ. It looks like a home game at Soldier Field

She say it is 75% Bears fans there

  • In reply to MikeV in OR:

Jesus, I hope it helps. Texans are doing us no favors at all. They've got a chance to lock up home field and they can't get it done against a one dimensional team. Don't know why, they managed to beat another one dimensional team...

  • Not getting much help here.

  • Reporting from University of Phoenix Stadium-

Our faithful outnumber home crowd by 2:1, we're gonna let ghem know whose here.

  • OK, Fox, it was time to switch to Washington/Philly about ten minutes ago.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    Not gonna happen, I guess.

  • them

    -stupid iphone

  • Damn you Dallas!

  • Their QB looks like a complete douchebag ....

  • Devin's been running in the right direction on returns the past couple of weeks.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

So YOU'RE the one who jinxed it.

  • Question of the day. How many passes does it take Jay Cutler to complete one?

  • I have a bad feeling that GB might lay down next week and rest their starters giving the Bi-Queens a wildcard spot regardless. That would be just like the Fudgers to do something like that...Bitches

  • In reply to RenoBear:

McCarthy has already stated he wouldn't rest his guys cause of what happened last year.

Now, if they half-ass, who knows, but I seriously doubt that esp since the Packers could be playing for the #2 seed (SF is the other one).

  • Yes, even if SF loses tonight, they can still get the #2 bye if they win next week and the Packers lose next week...

  • +1..ok true true...thanks for the reassurance 4ever!

  • That was interference and a good catch.

Same officiating crew as last week?

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    Different crew, same shit.

  • Yay, defensive TD. Needed that.

  • What's the record for consecutive incomplete passes?

  • Let's see, AZ is piss poor at defending the run but has a good pass D. I've got an idea. Let's just pass it all the time. That will fool them. FUCK ME!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    Coaching man this is coaching.

  • seriously...10 plays and like 7-8 to marshall??? Get a bit more creative Jay damn

  • Wow AZ offense looks a hell of a lot better than ours. Who is their QB again?

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

    Yeah, they look awesome.

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

Did you see Linley's giant pussy on that sack by Peppers?

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

If only we had Lindley instead of Cutler we'd be going to the Superbowl for sure!

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Because he hits the dirt like chickenshit. Smart QB.

  • Nice play by Weems. Conte wanted to hit Fitzgerald on that catch, but seen 30G fine coming if he did, and maybe a penalty. Congrats to my cousin for his fumble recovery for a TD (for you MB).

  • Cutler cant do it but FORTE CAN!

  • No complete passes for one quarter. Typical

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

To the dictionary. Look up typical when you get there.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

yea its fucking typical of Jay to not have done shit in the beginning of the game. You got a fuckin problem JIZZWAD

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

Your smart ass answers do mean shit. Say something with meaning.

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

Jay not completing a pass in the first quarter is anything but typical. You show up, spout some ridiculous garbage and disappear. I don't have a problem sir. You just have a propensity for saying shit that's stupid.

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

By "meaning", you mean something like your initial post that I replied to? Yeah, your posts are chock full of meaning.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

I thought this was a place we could all share opinions and not be harassed by people who desire perfection when using the English language. If you weren't such a dick, you would see that using TYPICAL was a form of sarcasm for the offenses lack of play in the first quarter. Pull the stick out of your ass Jizzwad. I been on this blog for years, and I don't just spout bullshit. I simply voice my opinion, and if you dont agree then simply say it or ignore it. Don't be a dick and try to teach me a lesson in English.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

You can sit here and try to make your day against me but I'm not gonna waste my day off with your bullshit.

  • Was that actually an "offensive" scored touchdown. WOW!!! This is amazing.

  • Its a shame we didnt trade Hester when he had market value. I hate hate hate hate seeing him run backwards.

  • Geez....Hester!

  • The positivity is absolutely overwhelming.

  • Teams used to think "dont kick it to Hester on punts" - now they think "kick it right to him and watch him run backwards!"

  • In reply to bajeezes:

WTF, did I just see some douche in a PACKERS jersey at this game?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

yes you did Mike. What an IDIOT!

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    We are everywhere

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Just to be clear, when you say a Packers jersey, you mean a NFC north champion packers jersey - correct?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

And to be clear, that Packer fan was wearing a Packers hoodie. 70 degrees In Arizona.

  • In reply to bajeezes:

    Kinda doubt that.

  • In reply to bajeezes:

Bet you wish Hester was back there for that one.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

He was back there. And he didnt signal well enough to his teammates.

  • Toub's boys ready again.

  • Haha, two time outs for no reason on that drive. WTF is going on?

  • In reply to TheFifth:

    Another nail in DJ's coffin...

  • When we get the ball back I hope Cutler throws some more long passes to Marshall. They will never expect that!

  • That the fastest you can run, Hester? Fucking ASS CLOWN!

  • I noticed that too...

  • DJ looks like a koala bear today.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

  • In reply to Shady:

Haha, he does look like a koala.
    DJ is crazy.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

He has eye black on his NOSE not under his EYES. He's TRYING to look like a Bear. Cute.

  • In reply to Shady:

Can't wait for that to catch on...

  • Fuuuuuuuuuuck.

  • What's with the challenge? What does Lovie see that no one else does?

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Little green elves, is my guess.

  • How the shit did Chicago not get credit for recovering that?

  • And now Lovie wasting another challenge.

    Cmon Lovie.

  • Lovie Smith is a genius. Let's keep him on as head coach.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

What do you think Larry Fitzgerald said to Lovie after he threw the flag?

  • Lovie won't have to worry about any of those pesky extra time outs this half.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

At least the Ravens are cooperating..

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Still can't believe the BiQueens throttled Houston.

  • Here's the thing...
    a. N.I.U. is better than the Arizona Cardinals
    b. Joe Flacco sucks far more than Jay Cutler
    c. "If you had a bad day" - eat shit and bark at the moon.
    d. Fuck the Vikings
    e. Fuck the Packers
    f. How about those Cowpokes?
    g. I know my alphabet
    h. Fuck the Manning brothers
    i. seventy-eight comments on this blog at this hour of a Bears game makes me believe that all is lost
    j. My grandson loves Chuggingtons and Brios - and I'm broke
k.The "regular" officials suck just like the scabs
    l. If the Bears cannot "win out" just because they need to for the apellation of being an N.F.L. team - then akbay the ucktray...
    m. It's four forty-one and as Jo Nesbo's Harry Hole says...(and as I write this Hester and the punt return team go into mind meld...)

"Fuck, fuck, fuck" - Harry Hole

I remember Foster Park on the South Side and the yap...
"(Any name here) eats shit and barks at the moon...(He,She) doesn't bark at the moon."

There must have been more of these over the years.

May the blessings of heaven be yours this holy season...

    Jack Lacan

  • Another fine decision by Lovie. He has to hold the record for "bad" challenges. If we can see it plain as shit, and we are biased, what the fuck is he thinking?

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

If there is a coach with a worse challenge record, I'd love to hear it.
He is extraordinarily bad at it...and that includes the ones he doesn't throw.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Not to defend Lovie (he sucks and needs to go), but I don't think he's in Reid's league in that regard.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Gotta agree. Reid is the worst game day coach. However, Lovie is in the conversation.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

    That's what I said too..

  • I'm following on the internet. Are we lining up 8 OL, Marshall, Forte and Cutler?

  • Amazing what Jay can do with a clean pocket.

  • Marshall you are RIDICULES!

    Maybe more no-huddle, eh, Tice?

  • See, the O plays much better without timeouts. That Lovie is a shrewd rascal...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Good One!

  • In reply to tobijohn:

You beat me to it tobi. Now we left them with no time to score.

  • Marshall is now crushing the Bears receiving records with 10 quarters to go in the regular season.
I wonder what they could do with an offensive line.

  • Urlacher's calling the defense ?

Devin Hester is not fast anymore.

Sheamus really does only have the spin move.

  • Golly we should beat the shit out of the Carmelite Sisters on Golf Rd.

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

Maybe but the Sisters of Loretto would give us a run for our money...

  • I could almost hear Lindley screaming when he threw that last pass.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

We need a QB like that.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

The piss ran down to his shoes before the ball even hit the ground. Beautiful.

  • P. Manning scores again - maybe the Broncos can score fifty today.

Did Peterson give a shitload of money to the N.F.L. instead of the N.R.A.?

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

I'm gonna smoke a Jeffrey at half-time Jack. Maybe then I'll understand what the hell your talking about. I will not be responsible for anything I say after said Jeffrey.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

    stroke the fuzzy wall!

  • We're all bitching up a storm (I'm as guilty as anyone) and we're up 21-6 at the half. Ooops!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

  • rabbit: see my vader shirt response above.

  • Message received; check yo gmail, maing.

  • Didn't realize that AP left the Texans game because of an irregular heartbeat...scary shit.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Only the first couple times you get it, old hat after that! hahahaha

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

    I can concur...

  • Devin's speed out of his cuts just aint what it used to be.

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

    That last return was OK.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Yea it was. It was his cut at the end. He looked slow coming out of it.

  • Aw, c'mon. Forte dinged up? Who the fuck does that leave? The midget?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

At this point, let him rest....

  • We should make a play for Lindley in the off-season.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Geez U, you're all over the poor guy. This doesn't have anything to do with him and your sister I hope...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Don't have a sister.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    I was kidding anyway...

  • What the fuck happened to Conte? I rewound it three times and it still was gibberish.

  • Peanut is nuts man. It's like deja vu all over again, and again, and again...

How could Peanut and Jennings not be #1 and #2 CB for the PB?

Also, would that be the first time that cb teamates went? I can't remember...maybe those 70s Raiders or Steelers sent a pair.

  • Definitely gotta be the best combo in a very long time

  • Hmm, so we have to root for Green Bay next week? Are there any other scenarios where the Bears get in? I don't think Seattle's going to lose at home to St. Louis.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    No. Vikes have to lose.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

So we have to kiss Packer keister next week?

  • In reply to tobijohn:

I'll happily kiss their ass and more.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

    Oh my!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

My ex-wife could tie a knot in a cherry stem with her tongue. No kidding...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Gotta love that! I knew a woman that could do that but I didn't know her in a biblical sense. DAMN!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Thank MB. That gif came from the Meagan Fox collection that he posted the other day. See here.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

That was one of my favorites from MB's link.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

Yeah, I saved that particular link, and a couple others. Very, very nice.

  • Ok...Someone on this blog actually wrote that they (he, she?) could not understand what I was "talking about".

I did not realize that there were persons on this blog that could not read or have any reading comprehesion skill.

"and to all a good night"...

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

Jack, I tried the Google translator on your post and I'm still confused....

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

Oh, come on Jack. Fifth was just kidding you. There was nothing nasty about it. I have to admit there are times where your references are so esoteric that you lose me.

  • I certainly hope I'm wrong here but;

the chances of the Bears making the playoffs or (if they do) winning any more games than the Lions just like...the fucking Mayan calendar...get it...

  • Wait, why don't they get these defensive tds against the packers, sf and the rest of the playoff teams...

  • They better offer lovie an extension, what a performance!

  • There is hope. The scenario I am looking at says that if GB rolls over and loses to the Vikings next week, GB would then have to turn around and play Vikings again the following week (albeit at home). Point being GB should be looking to play for something next week in MN.

  • In reply to bajeezes:

The Packers will be playing for the possibility of the #2 seed regardless of whether SF wins or loses tonight...

  • So does anyone have a clear view of the playoff picture if we win out? Vikes hold tie breaker over us?

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

    Yes they do...

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

Vikes have to lose. I think the Packers will take them out though. Guessing they'd rather play the Bears than the Vikings

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

This is a well done tool for playoff picture:

  • I think we'll take care of business against the Lions next week, but I'm wary of Green Bay not really showing up to play.

  • Special teams shitting the bed today. Not helping Toub's chances to replace Lovie.

  • I love how Marshall continuously gets mugged by Peterson. Where is the fuckin flag at?

  • In reply to Fresno,Ca Bear Fan:

Yep. My bad up top today Fres. I can be a dick on occasion. True enough. Merry
    Christmas and Go Bears!

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

Its cool bro. Ive done my share of shit talking on here. No worries.

  • Yeah hope gb has something to play for next week, bear down! Too bad they can't play the cowboys, rams, the '10 seahawks, and then the titans in the superbowl!

  • I love how some fat Bears fans think they can pull off wearing a Devin Hester jersey.

  • In reply to bajeezes:

    Not a great look!

  • What the fuck happened to special teams this year?

  • If Bell can ever shed the fumblitis, he could be a solid back. That kid runs hard.

So if you're an unbiased handicapper, you gotta be thinking the Packers beat the Vikings next weekend and the Bears beat the Lions , right?

Couldn't Seattle also lose two and fall out of the playoffs?

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

Yes. If Seattle loses two and the Bears beat the Lions then I think if even if the Vikings beat the Packers, then both the Vikings and the Bears are in. Both WC teams from the same division, I wonder how often that has happened?

  • I'm not rooting for the Packers to win next week, I'm rooting for the Vikings to lose.

  • OK, gotta root for SF tonight. If they beat Seattle then the Packers can't take their foot of the pedal. Not if they want a chance at the #2 slot...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Bears could make it in if Seattle loses tonight and next week. Assuming Bears beat Detroit.

  • In reply to Shady:

That's right. However, they play the Rams at home next week and so far, they're undefeated at home...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

The Rams beat the Seahawks in week 4.

  • In reply to Shady:

Hopefully, both they and SF can figure out how to do it in Seattle although if we don't beat Detroit, I don't think it will matter if the the Packers beat the Vikings and Seattle loses their last two...

  • In reply to Shady:

The Seahawks are not the same team they were in week 4

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

  • In reply to Shady:

If the Bears don't beat Detroit next week I am personally driving to Halas Hall and firing Lovie myself. The Bears have everything to play for and the Lions are already scheduling tee times for next week. And they're coached by Jim Schwartz. They can't lose that game.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

Megatron is still looking for 2,000 and Suh is always dangerous.

  • In reply to Shady:

Oh yeah, you're right. I dismissed that scenario then forgot about it entirely.

  • booooooo get used to that expressionless face on the sidelines, the bears will not change head coaches and consequently will not win another chamionship. So if seattle wins, and greenbay loses, and the redskins tie, does chi get to embarrass themselves again in gb or sf? Bear down!

  • So we have to have Green Bay beat Minnesota while we beat the Lions to make the dance.

Sounds like a nice dramatic NFC ending.

  • ....NFC North ending

  • And you can bet both teams will be watching the scoreboard all afternoon..

  • Dream scenario.......

    1) Seahawks win tonight.
    2) Bears and Packers both win next week.
    3) Bears kick the shit out of SF, Seattle, Washington, Dallas, or the Giants in their first playoff game.
    4) Bears demolish the Falcons, and GB wins their first playoff game.
    5) Bears go into Lambeau for the Halas Trophy and take it to the Packers. Just beat em' up. Win in an ugly way. That would be perfect.
    6) The gravy. Beat Peyton in the SB.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

That scenario has to have been drug-induced.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

I'm just hoping for #1 right now (and a Bear victory in Detroit). So far, #1 is looking like a sure thing.

  • The Seahawks are peaking at the right time and playing the way the Bears should be playing.

  • Today's performance ina word for me"

Seattle winnning tonight is what the Bears want.

A Seahawk win would give the Packers control of the #2 seed which they would wrap up by beating the Vikings next week.

Of course, the Packers will want to help the Bears into the playoffs, regardless, because that would add a team to the playoff mix that Green Bay has absolutely no fear of facing at this point in time, regular OR post season.

If the Packers can claim the #2 seed by beating the Vikings next week and the Bears beat the Lions, that would mean the Bears would play in SF in round one (assuming the 49ers lose tonight but beat the Cardinals nest week). Do I have that right?

  • In reply to tobijohn:

That's my read on the situation as well, tobijohn.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Sorry to be a buzz kill but unless the Good Lord does to the Bears' O in its entirety that which He did to Saul on the road to Damascus, I just don't see us going much further. Sorry....

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Alright you HEATHENS & PAGANS among us, listen up!

What the Right Reverend Tobijohn is referring to is from the The Bible in The Book of Acts, whence Saul of Tarsus (who was NOT one the original 12 disciples of Jesus and who actually PERSECUTED early Christians) is converted to Christianity and becomes the Apostle, "Paul".

I liken it to Darth Vader coming back from "The Dark Side" to become Anakin Skywalker again or a Packer fan seeing the light and switching his allegience to Da Bears.

Hallelujah, Brothers & Sisters, and AMEN!

  • In reply to tobijohn:

I think the conversion they need would be turning Mike Tice from an Offensive line Coach with a headset in a for real, Offensive Coordinator.

THAT would truly be a miracle..

"But the Lord sayeth, Thou shalt not hold thy breath.

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Dunno, the Niners D had been leaking like a sieve the last couple of games.

Of course, Seattle now seems to be the greatest offensive juggernaut that the NFL has ever seen, so who knows?

  • Here's today's

"... and DEATH is not an option."

    choice for you:

    B) No NFL team, at all, to root for

    B) Being a Cardinals fan

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

They need a QB and some O-line help (guess you could say that about a lot of teams). Alex Smith and Matt Flynn should probably be available next year (Campbell too probably). That and couple Oline FAs and they should at least be competitive...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

That makes sense until to you remember that the Cardinals are just 2 seasons removed from shelling out big bucks for somebody else's, supposedly, "backup-ready-to-start", the aforementioned, Kevin Kolb (the "L" in Kolb is silent, just like in MISTAKE).

I think that makes Arizona more likely to go after someone like Gino Smith in the draft.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Arizona has a decent defense and needs to QB help on offense. They still have Fitz and another young WR Michael Floyd that a lot of us wanted for the Bears.

One interesting scenario for them. They fire the whole coaching staff and push reset. They bring in David Shaw, draft a strong rookie QB and a OL guy in the first two rounds. Next year they draft a solid OL and DL in the first two.

Suddenly we could have a third team in the NFC West with a former college coach, a stout defense, a collection of high draft pick linemen and a young, talented quarterback. Except this team will have an elite WR, which Seattle and San Fran do not.

Not as farfetched as it sounds.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Scuttlebutt out this way points to the Promoting DC, Ray Horton to the head Coaching position for the Cards.

  • And now, a word from our sponsor:
    The Bears smacked another bottom-feeder,
    ..the Cards, who really REEK.
But even thought they did, dear reader...
..the playoff picture STILL looks bleak.

  • Wee-OH.

49ers are taking a beating in Seattle tonight.

    On the scoreboard AND physically.

  • Houston really fucked us today, but at least Green Bay can't screw us next week. Either they help us, or they hurt themselves. That makes me feel a whole lot better about the situation. If SF had won tonight, we'd have had to spend Christmas worrying about being buttfucked by the Packers' seconds next Sunday. What an ignominious end to the season that would be.

The Bears are in the playoffs right now. If the Lions or Vikes take us out, so be it. At least the cheese won't have the pleasure of pissing on us in their leisure.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

Yes, the Packers know they will HAVE to beat Minny for a bye because the 49ers get to work out their frustrations from tonight on the "Good-For-What_Ails_YOU", Arizona Cardinals. Packers and 49ers both play late games.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Packers play in the early slot.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Not according to the schedule that NBC showed tonight.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

It a moot point as the Pack will HAVE to assume the 49ers are going to take out their frustrations on the hapless Cardinals later that day and win.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

The NFL readjusted the schedule. I'd rather they hadn't.

If by some miracle, Arizona leaps to an early, insurmountable lead over SF, and the Rams crush Seattle before halftime, GB could fold vs the Vikes and still get the bye.

The chances of that happening are not good, however. Lol (sc).

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak: schedule has the Pack-Vikes as an early tilt.

Early or late, the Packers HAVE to assume that the 49ers wil be polishing their cletes with red bird feathers nexty Sunday.

The Sunday night game is Giants-Redskins.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    Pack & Queens got flexed.

  • From the Twitter sidebar widget:
Lot of insane moments in Seattle's season, but none bigger than the 97-yard drive to force OT in Chicago. ·
    reply · retweet · favorite

Huh? Greg, it was Jay Cutler's 56 yard pass to Brandon Marshall with 20 seconds on the clock, and Gould's FG that forced OT.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

CB I don't really comment much on here anymore as some of the members are a little cunty for my taste but if you read Rosenthal hardly at all you will realize what a dumbass he truly is.

  • In reply to A7Xthebest:

I'm not sure I've ever read him. Apparently he writes for nfl dot com? I try to avoid that site.

  • Seattle win the superbowl.

    Russell .Wilson. Is. A. Stud.

Even if we beat Arizona and the Packers beat the Queens we cannot Seattle. They've putup like 150 points in three weeks and that was the NFC's top team (allegedly) that they just dropped the pain on.

    Will Melton be back?

  • Seattle win the SB?

    You're high.

Away from home they've barely beaten anyone (yes, the Bears, but c'mon...). SF receivers were getting mugged almost as bad as BMarsh was yesterday, and the refs weren't throwing flags. SF got banged up and was on the end of some rough reversals (blocked FG returned for TD? I felt like I was watching the Bears game again) early, and that stadium is a hard place to make any sort of comeback in--especially for a young QB with no real go-to receivers.

They're one and done in the playoffs. Especially if they have to travel to SF or Green Bay.

  • I think the Seahawks could knock Green Bay out. Green bay feels more like a one and done to me than Seattle. Seattle's playing some very good defense right now and Russel Wilson just might be the real deal. I do agree with you on the Niners though. Despite what happened last night, I think they win at San Fran. They don't exactly look like SB winners these days either though. I keep thinking the Niners peaked against the Bears.

  • Hey people happy holidays to you all . ya know what I do not know about you guys but when the bears lose I do not want to see, here or anything from anybody at lest until 2 days later, and my solid food intake is not that good, my point in being I am so glad that the bears won I truly love this team I do not follow any other sport its just the pigskin for me. but if we make the playoffs we all should be grateful, but we will not get anywhere scoring a freakin 14 pts a game man it just is not gonna happen , listen I love this defense they have played awesome all year. regardless of what happened against seatlle and san fran. our problems are a direct result of our lack of offense prowess and the talent is there go figure if this team can protect jay and manage a 21 to 24 pts a game who's gonna beat us NO BODY we will be hoisting up both the halas tphy and the lombardi tphy in jan.
