Reverend's Rant & DaBearsBlog Picks Contest

Blog Picks Contest:

You know the rules. If you don't know the rules you are probably not in the contest and thus don't NEED TO KNOW the rules.

(Home Team in CAPS)

Denver -4 CINCINNATI

GREEN BAY -10 Arizona

Miami -2 INDIANAPOLIS

Baltimore -3.5 CLEVELAND

HOUSTON -10 Buffalo

WASHINGTON -3 Carolina

Detroit -3 JACKSONVILLE

Chicago -3.5 TENNESSEE

SEATTLE -5 Minnesota

OAKLAND -1.5 Tampa Bay

NEW YORK GIANTS -3 Pittsburgh

ATLANTA -4 Dallas

Sélection du blogpère

Call me crazy but I think it's over for Minnesota and now they go to the most difficult place to play in the NFL. I'm taking Pete Carroll and the Seahawks to stop Adrian Peterson and harass Christian Ponder into an afternoon of mistakes. I'm laying the 5 and reemerging in this contest (kinda).

And there it is, get on boys. Personally I was scared off BAL this week because of their injuries and Flacco channeling his inner Sanchez recently. Viva's taking the Bears so there's your 3-1 double. ATL are only 4 point dogs to rape the Romo. Should be a good weekend.

And hey-ho the Steelers who are going into NY/NJ with their 51% 3rd conv. against the G-men who can't stop anything on 3rd down.

    Howz about that for a roll-up? BAL-DEN-CHI-PIT-ATL ? 24/25 -1 ???

  • Denver +4

  • For all of the pundits and coverage and nonsense by the media out there regarding the Bears the recipe for a win is simple:

    1. Balance in playcalling
    2. Forte and Bush involved in the screen game
    3. Get BENNETT involved EARLY in the game to extend drives and keep the Titans off balance with short routes on 1st and 2nd downs and key 3rd down catches.....because that's what he fucking does.
    4. No fumbles or INT's in our own zone.
    5. Simply Marshall
    6. No big plays on D, make Hasselbeck drive the length of the field and fucking earn every yard.

  • "No fumbles or INT's in our own zone."

    Well, DUH !

We NEVER would have thought of THAT one!

  • Chicago Bears -3.5

  • From http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/

"Key stat: The Bears are one of four teams in the NFL to rank in the top 10 in both scoring offense and defense. The Bears average 26.4 points per game, which ranks eighth and the defense allows 14.3 points per game (second). Interestingly, 2006 marked the last time the team ranked in the top 10 in points scored (second) and points allowed (third)."

So with #1 receiver Bernard Berrian, running back Thomas Jones, tight end Dez Clark, and (gee... who the hell else?)... guess ol' Sexy Rexy did okay, eh?

  • In reply to SC Dave:

I'm probably one of the least critical Bears fan when it comes to the Sex Cannon. I thought the way the fans treated him was beyond shameful. However, once the league figured out you could rattle him with pressure the writing was on the wall. Once he got rattled he would fumble the ball on a regular basis and generally looked like a deer in the headlights. I still don't have anything against the guy and wish him well. Also, I'm glad he doesn't play for the Beloved.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

That scoring average is in the toilet since the bye.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    1. it's out first year in the offenese.
    2. Alshon has been out 3 weeks
    3. cutler playing with bruised ribs

  • Can't wait for Alshon to get back.

Run game improves, passing improves .... and the line just might get better with time. Even if we get an injury somebody new might step up.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Nope. He had an O-line and an actual center, plus a younger defense. He was a nice guy though, just seemed like a big kid out of his depth, more Tomczak than a certain punky QB. As has been said before, Sexy didn't lead the Bears to a SB, the defense led him.

I'll take these two corners though. Older Peanut seems to be playing better than younger Peanut, eh?

  • Dallas.

  • Titans +3.5

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I expect this to be a struggle.

This is NOT Matt Hasselback's first rodeo. Yes, he's 0-3 vs. the Bears in Soldier field but he's 3-0 against them otherwise.

6-2 with Houston and AT San Fran looming is not at all appealing.

    Yo, offense! SHOW UP!

  • The one thing that sucks about "fall back" is waiting an extra hour for the Bears game!

  • In reply to SC Dave:

If it makes you feel any better, I'm at work and get to fall back for an extra hour tonight. Instead of 12.5 hours I get to work 13.5. Woo-Hoo!!??!!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Must be a Canadian thing. Well, unless you get paid time and a half for one hour.

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

Not really. It was the same thing when I worked in the States. Down there I was on salary and we just took one for the team. Up here I get double time for 1 hour. Other than the pay, I think almost all 24/7 type jobs work like this. Work 11.5 hours in Spring and 13.5 in the Fall.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    That sucks. Hospital or utility?

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Here in AZ we neither "Spring Forward" nor "Fall Back". Hate when the rest of the country goes back on "Standard time". No more 10am kick-offs.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I have a good friend in Tucson and it took me a long time to realize you guys didn't change.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Yea, we basically shift from Mountain Standard to Pacific Daylight times

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    LOVE the early kick-offs.

Means College games at 9am on Saturdays too.!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Hey, Canada! Do you guys have Term Limits the Dominion or can some hoser sit in Parliament for as long as he can get re-elected?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Same in Thailand. Games will start at one in the morning instead of midnight. Three hours sleep before work, and if you lose that double sucks.

  • Anyone see that doco - "The Choice 2012"? Politics aside, Romney and Barry O' Bama seem to be two very nice people, just from two very different sides of the track.

Too bad the Prez doesn't run the country.

Question : why does NOBODY ever ask WHO the sixteen trillion is owed to?

Answer: Oh wait, there's somebody at the door ......

  • Because we're too busy playing video games and blogging about football teams. Oh, and it only matters as much as we have the ability to change the situation without any discomfort. 0.

  • I don't get it.

If you were a US Senator, which basically gives you your own little FIEFDOM to rule and that you only have to share with another Senator, and people were not only willing to KISS YOUR ASS on a DAILY basis, but kiss it in exactly the particular way you WANTED it kissed AND, unless you screw up, big time, you could STAY a Senator 'til you're 102 if you chose to,
why on EARTH would you ever want to become President?

    As President you are

    A) At the mercy of Congress,

    B) Put out to pasture in no more than 8 years, if not 4

    and
    C) Get a great big BULLS-EYE tatooed right between your horns for any crackpot/zealot/nutcase to put you out to pasture literally, even SOONER than 4 years.

This country needs term limits even worse than the Bears need better offensive line play.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Agree 100% with term limits.

  • Tampa Bay +1.5
