Thursday Night Game Thread & Picks Contest Bonus

Thursday Night Game Thread & Picks Contest Bonus

Y'all are goin' need get ya some of these here bonus points because myself, Grogan and Crown are showing no mercy in the picks contest. I will publish a full standings next week as we attempt to pass time during the bye week. (We'll also be putting the next round of tee shirts on sale so stay tuned with your credit card numbers on the ready.)

Rooting Interest?

The Rams. (1) I like Jeff Fisher and I have never rooted against one of his teams when not playing the Bears. (2) We want the Cardinals to put some losses in the bank. I think the Niners will win that division and the Bears may very well find themselves competing with Arizona for a wildcard slot. (Competing with the Rams is no big deal now that we have a win over them in the bank.)

Picks Contest Bonus

  • Total points. You nail the number on the button and you'll be credited with a good week. I want the number, the exact number, of points scored by the Cardinals and Rams tonight.
  • If you nail the bonus, I'll let you replace any of your wrong weeks with it. This means I'll allow you to put a team back on the board.

Good luck.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Thanks MB, actually I am doin fairly good, I had my wife at the University of Chicago and that procedure had negative results which was good. She had an MRI last week and went to spine Dr. yesterday she scheduled an epidural for tomorrow. I get a call today and the disc must have shifted or bulged more and I had to go get her from work because she could hardly walk. So its been crazy one thing after another. I appreciate your thoughts and well wishes. Hopefully if all goes well tomorrow things will be on the upswing for the rest of the year! Those damn Drs are happy though. I'm over 100K and she has to be in the 60K range........BEAR DOWN

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Best wishes Murph. I feel for your wife. Back injuries are terrible.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Empathizing. BELIEVE me, I fully understand the concept of "If Momma ain't happy, aint NOBODY happy!".

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Really sorry to hear that Murph. Hope things make a quick u-turn for Mrs. Murph. Looking forward to better times for both of you and more posts from you. Best Wishes.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Yes, Murph. I will put out a baby Ditka for good luck your way.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Feel you pain Murph, got 2 ruptured and 5 bulging (mostly from spending 15 yrs of spotting trailers in spotting horses with solid suspensions...loved every second of it though) but it was the 4.7cm anheurism on my lower aorta that took me out..had to have intertubes put in there and a couple other places 3 yrs ago. Can't walk very far, 10 minutes on my feet standing,my legs go numb, so had to give up on pretty much anything that requires a lot of walking, only in short spurts. Doc's say on the ruptures only 30% chance of getting better if they operate due to advanced disc degeneration so I just plug along 1 day at a time, do what I can do. Good insurance is hard to come by anymore and that is if you can afford it.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Thoughts are with you and yours Murph.

Note to self: don't make this weeks pick when hungover sunday morning!

  • Are people forgetting the Card's struggled to win in OT against Miami just last week? I don't think they are a shoe in to win. They *probably* will, but I figured I'd buck the trend.

    20 - 17 Rams (37)

  • I also realize I'm probably too late to qualify for the contest.... cest la vie.

  • In reply to Scharfinator:

With a name like the Sharfinator? Yea, you're too late to qualify.

  • In reply to Crown:

    It's Scharfinator.

And rats, I'm too late, so speaketh King Crown! I beseech you to accept my apology, my liege. ;)

  • total points: 29

  • Kolb doesn't look half bad. He looked downright scared in the PS. He's missing Fitz, and miscommunicating a little, but he doesn't look half as horrible as I remember.

I'm glad we have Alshon instead of Floyd. What a find.

  • The cards TE Housler is going to be legit! Kid is huge, can catch, has moves and has 4.4. speed.

  • In reply to Crown:

Yeah, I noticed him too (kinda hard to miss the dude). He puts his head down to finishes runs too, like a 250 RB.

    Oh my.

  • Man, maybe Emery did know what he was doing.

Bobbie Massie is getting OWNED by Long.

  • Only saw some of the game, but I have a better feeling about the oline after watching the Rams sack attack v. Cards.

  • Insofar as there was not an entry deadline, I figured, why guess?

    The number is: 20

    Was this a trick question?

  • In reply to Viva:

    That was sarcasm...

  • I noticed Peppers has had a foot injury pretty much all season. Now, it is listed as an ankle injury. Is this something to be concerned about?

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

The foot injury is plantar fasciitis...don't imagine that will get better over the season but he's a freak and they aren't pushing him to practice. Saw him limping off the field in the 1st on Monday so I'm not terribly worried about it. He played our of his gourd after the ankle tweak.

  • As we start this beautiful Friday worday I'd like to leave you gents with a comforting thought:

Brandon Marshall is our starting Wide Receiver.

    Defensive coordinators sporting huge fearboners.
