The Cameron Worrell Show: Rested and Ready [AUDIO]

The Cameron Worrell Show: Rested and Ready [AUDIO]

If you don't listen to Cam's analysis each week, you're making a mistake. He is technical, detailed and we have a lot of fun.

On this week's show he dissects the specific challenges the Detroit offense poses, states how the game will hinge upon Jennings/Moore winning one-on-one match-ups, breaks down the importance of Conte being technically sound to protect against Calvin Johnson beating the Bears over the top and illustrates the demeanor of a Lovie defender when the defense goes soft at the end of halves.

Bonus video:

Here is some analysis from the Eagles perspective on how the Philadelphia secondary collapsed (thanks to some nifty coaching decisions) against the Lions late.

  • First post, then listen.

  • Interesting possibility. If the Eagles carry on the way they are now (likely), and the Browns clean house after the season (very likely), will we see Andy Reid fired by Philly and hired to coach the Browns?

The move makes a lot of sense. The new Browns CEO, Joe Banner, made his name in Philly. Reid coached an Eagles team that was consistently competitive and visited the playoffs often enough to be respectable. The Eagles were often called mediocre, but they were never called terrible. That kind of stability would be very attractive for a new administration.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Apparently no. I asked Paul Domowitch of the Inquirer and he basically told me Banner and Reid are mortal enemies.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Philly kicking the tires on Chris Williams.

  • Well, THAT will be a refreshing change from having his ASS kicked trying to play tackle for the Bears.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    hee hee

  • I can't believe we couldn't even get a 7th rounder for Chris. I mean, with the dearth of Olinemen around the league, we couldn't get a measly 7th? Before injuring his wrist last year, Chris was a pretty good guard.

Philly, Cards, Cowpies, Steelers should swoop in on him.

  • I'm with you here... he was good at left guard. why we didn't put him back there before shitcanning him, I have no idea.

  • I don't know, but my guess would be interested teams may have preferred to sign him for the vet minimum. His salary for this year is pretty affordable ($1M + an already paid $284,750 workout bonus), but teams seem to tend to believe a mid-year signing is only entitled to the min. Especially since he's a fully-vested vet and thus an unrestricted FA not subject to the waiver process, teams are probably willing to take their chances and expect not to be outbid.

Also, don't discount the possibility that they just threw him a bone so that he could sign with the best situation for him. A 7th round pick isn't as valuable to an established franchise with a talented roster, so giving one up to buy a little player goodwill (and also to fill the roster spot immediately, instead of waiting for the wheeling-n-dealing process to complete) is very possibly worthwhile.

Now if Emery thought he could swing a 5th rounder or better, I bet this goes down a little differently...

  • So if you look at the odds on the games last week and then look at the results you see it was the week of the underdog. There are a couple really big spreads this week (SF -8, NE -101/2) and I'm wondering if this week will be a repeat. Denvers already started the trend.

  • Great podomaticast, Jeff.

The Bears should start the game in Prevent. Then Lovie will be able to make an adjustment that works.

We want leaders to be foot washers, religious liberty.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

I believe you forgot to quote Sir Peter Weyland on that.

  • In reply to gpldan:

"I am long dead. May I rest in peace."

  • Jeff I really enjoy these interviews. Would you ever consider having a call-in type of podcast or show where your readers could call in and talk Bears? I think that would be very cool.

dabearsblog Fans get wrapped up in silliest things. Team is 4-1. OL playing well. This is an issue? RT @ErikGrogan: Bears fans if Carimi is a bust.

Whoa Nelly. Is the O-line an issue? Wait til we hit a defensive line and y'all 'll be calling for heads again. Lance is good. Chilo's okay. Roberto is done. Everyone else has points to prove. We're still a good team though.

    video on the bears.

  • Signing off:

I'm going to sign off the blog for awhile, not sure when I will be back. Some of you may see me on PSN. I've simply run my course with Gnome code and it's obvious nobody's home at the Trib company while the discussions have always been fun, the sock puppets and the Obama smack have been reason enough to check out. Go Bears and happy hunting.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Seriously dude? Well you shall be missed.

Btw how did they get a gay Samoan in the CYR? Their lone minority.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I'm going to leave you with this last post then:

    1. Like me, you'll continue to do fine no matter who is president I suspect
    2. Next time you see me i'll be shooting an RPG at the wall of the building just behind you resulting in certain death.
    3. 14-2 Season of Destiny/Season of Cutler
    4. Stafford dead

  • In reply to gpldan:

C'mon, gp. Don't make Tracs . (see how I did that?). We need you around here.

  • Thats good Doc!

  • In reply to gpldan:

I tend to shy away from emoticons, but damn gp, :'-((

  • In reply to gpldan:

oh, come on GP, you can't leave! Who cares what people say about Obama, or any other political puppet? I think we all agree that this nation is a plutocracy at best (just check the top 10 donors to both the blue and the red).

Now, if the Gnome Code annoys you, I can understand, but these tech difficulties usu get sorted out, eventually. It's almost mid season. We're 4-1. Don't jump off the New Orleans express now!

  • I see Jimmy Da Gnome finally fixed the damn Wordpress queue. It gets jammed, which is why you post and it doesn't show up for 5 minutes and the pages load incredibly slowly.

Which, when you often post on a cellphone browser (like I do), makes the site basically unusable.

It only took him 3 days and two of Jeff's threads to get around to it. I guess he had his fucking pager off.

As if this stupid indentation based system wasn't fucking hard enough to read, with the style sheet from hell (no, I fucking DO NOT want to read 'From Stilettos to Overalls' from a chick that looks like Helen Hunt in a car accident, I do NOT want to read her blog or purchase Matt Bowen's app, I want CN to take the fucking whitespace and let us use it. Less Jenny Milk, more Bears Honey.)

It really, really, really shouldn't be as hard to post and read CN as it was to use an Fidonet BBS in 1989. Jeff should make the blog page play that stupid modem screeching sound when we land here.

Jeff has said that he is contemplating a proper forum. I should see you there.

  • In reply to gpldan:

He fixed it! Someone must have sent him a properly submissive email.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

    I spoke too soon.

But the delay was only 2.5 minutes this time! Nice work, Jimmeh!

  • In reply to gpldan:

I'd be interestred to know what are realistic alternatives for the DBB other than ChicagoNow. I'm not inferring that there aren't, I just am not familiar with the medium and am looking to educate myself...

  • In reply to gpldan:

  • In reply to gpldan:

GP, you leave and I will hunt you down and kick your lily ass in Dec when I'm in town. Seriously, I will.

Don’t be a cunt man. Losing a reg to nothing is just silly. Seriously. Don’t be a cunt like that.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I personally hope you change your mind and chalk this up as just a rash post when your pissed off and aggravated to no end with the code.
If your dropping off the site over politics, then I read you wrong. I always considered you thick skinned and witty with your posts on the subject.
Anyways, if your not around for a while, I'll give my last plug for the Gov't Mule show on Halloween at the Riviera. I'm 90% sure from some good sources they will be doing a Hendrix tribute set that should be off the hook with some guest musicians. I'll be there taping the show.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Have to admit, I think Jeff's comment numbers are a bit down. I see more people commenting now than I did a year ago, but the conversation is less lively. I have to think the chicagonow code has something to do with it. I know it cuts down on the frequency of my comments.

But I also tend to think that the reason the problems haven't been fixed goes over ol' Jimmy's head. The newspapers are still really behind the times on this stuff. Really really behind the times.

  • I dig the interview, lots of good stuff. I like the Chris Conte show.

May we thrash the Lions like last year.

  • Cameron Worrell provides an excellent perspective.

Personally, I would edit the phone ring / pick-up, etc., but then , I edit for a living.

  • Feel free to raid.....NOW...

  • Holy shit Doc! I coulda never handled a talk from my Mom about boxing the clown. Its almost all women commenting now, I know some DBB'ers could add some spice to that thread, not that it needs much.

  • Butch's Keys to the MNF game

    1. Limit Megatron.

Billichick theory. You take the greatest strength of the other team, and you scheme it away. Simple as that. In this case, Peanut will have to duplicate his Herculean effort last year in shadowing Megatron. Conte/Wright will have to hang back and provide back up. The podcast above talks more in depth about it, but yeah, the Eagles successfully employed the plan, but then inexplicably began blitzing in the 4rth (perhaps because the Eagles weren't getting any pressure with their front 4). The D cord for the Eagles is now looking for a new job. We must stay the course. Make Burleson, Young, and Pettigrew beat you. Jennings is playing out of his mind, and will be shadowing Burleson, so throwing to him will be risky business for Stafford. Young is a poor-man's Harvin, but DJ is just as quick and shifty. Pettigrew drops as many passes as he catches, and Roach has been covering surprisingly well thus far. Our DBs actually match up well. Limit Megatron. Stafford begins getting desperate when Mega is quiet, like a 13 year old boy waiting by the phone for a girl to call.

    2. Gotta get pressure with front 4.

This is almost a no brainer in our system, but it's esp more urgent against dangerous Os. Let's face it. The front 4 didn't dominate the Jags like in the previous games. Perhaps that's because they were not penetrating as much, more worried about containing MJD, or maybe they were just dehydrated in that southern humidity, either way, they're gonna have to step up. The Eagles started blitzing because they couldn't pressure with their D-line, and Stafford made them pay. If the front 4 penetrate, Stafford will begin chucking it, and that's a risky proposition with the way our secondary is playing right now.

    3. Run, Lola, Run.

I know it's gonna be tempting to throw against that weak Lion's secondary, but when Forte and the run game get going, we win. Simple as that. I have a feeling that the Lions are gonna scheme against B-marsh like we will for Mega (isn't that nice for a change?), so there should be lanes. Run games usually take a little bit to get going, so we'll have to remain patient with it. It's also a good way of settling Cutler down. Once we establish the run, the Lions might start blitzing and playing single coverage, and that's when Cutler can let loose. I forgot the exact stat, but Cutler is actually really efficient against the blitz.

    4. Eat a snickers, Cutler!

Yes, this is actually a key to any night time game with Cutler at the helm.

It's hard to predict if the Lions will blitz Cutler in an effort to rattle him, or simply hold back and frustrate him with cover-2 /zone, but I think it's the latter. That's what Green Bay did, and it was our only loss, so I expect the Lions to copycat. Then again, Schwartz is not only a douche, but a little unhinged.

We execute these keys, and we win the game. If we get antsy like the Eagles did, the same result may occur.

    Bonus. X-factor.

Hester. It's MNF. Hester LOVES MNF. And guess what? The Lion's LOVE giving up TDs on sp teams! It's like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich - meant to be.

  • solid post.

Balanced attack equals victory. When the Bears run a balanced attack we win 90% of the time*

*claim based on previous 2 seasons with Cutler playing and current 5 game season

We just don't fucking lose when we run the ball and keep it balanced. I predict Jay's finest hour just like I did againt the Cowboys.

Anyone that says otherwise is a trick ass mark ass beeyotch.

  • Oh 4ever if you were here id kiss you exacto mondo this football team gets of the bus running this team when Tice uses the run game to throw instead using the pass game to run this football club well it's 4 and 1 you are right when this team is running and playaction is working ,what that does is allow the bear offense well like you said be more balanced there is one thing that i have been seen in the cowboy game and again against the Jag's the 3rd down efficenicy from this offense and when that happens well we just do not lose one other thing teams can no longer put 8 guys in the box the jag's tried and they got smoked i think thats what the lions are gonna due gonna test the O line rattle cutler but if tice is smart they will stick with the run game and work from there thats who we are thats our game the and as far as the d is well do i say more there playing lites out CALVIN JOHNSON HE'S GONNA GET HIS CATCHES BUT hey in bear d we trust

  • Ah, this site is still a POS. I commented to one of gpldan's post and it hasn't shown up. I suppose this one won't either. Boy, am I sick of this...

  • Oh Jimmy...

  • Maybe at last you've found my avatar!! Oh wait, isn't there some twisted thing I have to do to load one?

    Never mind.

  • good for him man:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

takes a lot of balls to do that when you know the result will be thousands of guys ripping head over you pics.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    ripping head?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    haha. Good for him.

You know, I don't really get this whole anti-gay/sissy stuff. Sure, if you're a Leviticus guy, then I get it, but otherwise, it's a bit baffling. I think the perception of gay dudes as wussies is somewhat cultural-temporal (yeah, I just made that up).

Gays are thought of as g-stringed dancers on floats, but historically, that hasn't been the case. Alexander the Great I'm sure would pimp slap those dudes (then maybe do some other stuff). Those Spartans in 300 - SUPER GAY. The Spartans thought women inferior, so why insult yourself by making a slave you're equal )? Young Spartans usually hooked up with an older man who would pretty much be his mentor/lover. The older "partner" would actually choose who the young man's wife was gonna be (purely for reproductive purposes).

When I told my best friend this (an out of the closet homophobe), dressed as a Spartan for Halloween, the look on his face was priceless. I think in Ancient Greece they used to view being straight like we now do being gay.

"I'm not straight! Not that there's anything wrong with that..."

  • check out his shirt... get it?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Is the shirt implying that Mario + Shrooms = Super Mario?

I'm surprised it didn't get pixelated by the CNN censors hehe

  • ahhh zose craaazy geeeermaaahns:
