(Home team in CAPS)

New England -7 ST. LOUIS

TENNESSEE -3.5 Indianapolis

San Diego -3 CLEVELAND

DETROIT -2.5 Seattle

CHICAGO -7.5 Carolina

PITTSBURGH -4.5 Washington

KANSAS CITY -1.5 Oakland

PACKERS -14.5 Jaguars

New York Giants -2 DALLAS

DENVER -6 New Orleans

I rebounded last week with the horrible-to-watch Dallas Cowboys. And I am staying in that division and taking the WASHINGTON REDSKINS in Pittsburgh. I simply do not believe the Steelers are very good and I loved everything I saw from Bob Griffin in the Meadowlands Sunday. Steelers will be able to throw it on the 'Skins awful pass defense but Bob keeps it close.

  • How the hell did you do that Sac? Sounds painful.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Violent masturbation is always a possibility with these types of injuries canada

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

not a master of his domain, apparently.

  • HA!

  • Oakland

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

I'm beginning to forget who I picked... and I'm too lazy to check. I would pick Atlanta, but I think I may have already.

So I picked a team I KNEW I never picked. Fuck the Chiefs (Neil Smith, Derrick Thomas, and Christian Okoye excluded).

  • Cleveland +3

  • indy

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    yeah... whatever.

  • Detroit

  • Carolina (+7.5)

  • In reply to thebigcheese:

You don't get to play fucker.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

I'd nearly take that though - it'll be hard putting points up on the Panthers.

  • How do you figure? They give up 24 pts and 366 yards per game. In Soldier Field, we should shred them - tender ribs or not.

  • Tenn -3.5

  • AND this is just for my personal note in case I have to make a future pick away from my comp and don't want to dig through the archives.

Tenn, Oak, Wash, Chi, Ariz, Indy, Det.

  • Atlanta

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Still in Hoodoo Mode. I'm on fire. I think I'm 1-6 for the year. Boo-Yah!

  • St. Louis FTW.

  • Btw, how long do yall think Alshon will be out for???

  • In reply to OsosFan:

My hope he is back 11/11 for Texans. But my guess is 11/25 Vikings game.

  • In reply to OsosFan:

When I was a fast-healing 18 year-old and broke my hand on a TE's bicep, I was in a cast for a month. I had a "boxer's fracture" (spiral fracture of the 3rd metacarpal), and it ached like a bitch for a month or two after I got out of the cast.

I could play with a gimpy hand; a WR can't. My money's on Alshon being out another month. So, what EnderWiggin said is probably spot-on.

  • San Diego -3

  • In reply to ben in norcal:

German for a whale's vagina, fyi.

  • In reply to ben in norcal:

I almost decided to go as anchorman tonight Ben. My buddies already had costumes and didn't want to go as the full crew. Sad

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Anchorman's a good look. Went out with the wife and some friends tonight. I was dressed up as none other than Da Coach. Even here in SF got a lot of shout outs all night, it was a good time.

Anchorman? Sounds like you planned next year's costume for me, thanks my Bears brethren.

  • Detroit -2.5

  • new orleans

  • New England

  • And I don't understand why Philly is actually favored over Atlanta. Philly sucks ass. I'd take Atlanta, but I feel like they've got to lose one soon.

  • Hotlanta nearly lost to the RAIDERS. The suckass Raiders (and the Panthers). A lot of "critics" who say the Bears are beating subpar teams fail to realize that we demolish the teams we should beat.

We haven't lost to the Colts like the Pack.
We haven't been anally raped like the Texans.
We took apart the Cowpies, at their place, on primetime. The same team who beat the Giants at their place when they were getting crowned.
The Pats got bounced by Ariz AND Seattle and should have lost to Sanchize.
And let's not even mention the thorough ass-whooping the Vikes gave the 9ers...

    Something to keep in mind.

  • That game still bugs the hell out of me.. The Falcons should have destroyed the Raiders..

  • People might forget the Redskins swept the Super-bowl-winning Giants that year.

  • with Sexy Rexy, no less. How a team can get swept by him then win the SB defies all common sense and logic.

  • Brady is susceptible to good defenses e.g. ARI, NYJ and SEA. We might have his number this year, if we stay healthy and get that far.

  • New York Giants -2

  • New York Football Giants -2

  • Hey Doc. Give me a shout.

  • Bears-7.5

  • Devin Hester:
" ...I'm going to man up and confess that I haven't been as aggressive as I normally should..."
"...I need to be more aggressive. I know that, and I know how to fix it. We're looking forward to this week."

Hester probably should have played it safe and made that admission after the game. But he chose to challenge himself. You have to give him credit for that. Now he can't back off on Carolina. Yet he might not get a decent kick the entire game. Hopefully he won't try to force it and get flattened.

As great as Hester has been, I don't care that much about his performance as a return specialist. The position just doesn't help put points on the board the way an offensive position does. So I'm hoping his new-found aggressiveness, assuming it's real, transfers to his play on offense. Someone with his speed and elusiveness should be able to get open, damit. He should be capable of some serious YAC. I don't give a damn if he misses the ball half the time, as long as he's Devin Hester when he gets it.

I know, if he hasn't lived up to his promise as a receiver by now, he never will. But what if he does? How awesome would that be? I'm like a lottery ticket junkie.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

I'm pretty confident that Hester will create a big play this weekend. He's due and with Jay hurting you may see something designed to get him the ball in space. It will be beautiful and meaningful. oh my god its early.

  • In reply to Crunch Buttsteak:

He just need to be more aggressive everywhere on the field. Period.

    Get it done heater!

  • Their backs are against the wall and they're at home so as much as it pains me:

    DETROIT -2.5

  • I was shocked that Aaron Rodgers was so close to Cutler

  • Jefe, I needed Cincy to beat the Steelers last week for a pile of moolah. Big Ben loses two linemen during the game and he is still the man. Brady, Manning, Brees, none of those guys can do what he does. He's like a gigantic Weeble wobbling around the pocket. No protection and still gets the job done. You sack the guy but you don't really sack him. Two rings and counting ...

  • St. Louis +7

  • New York Giants -2

  • Saints +6

  • Denver -6

  • San Diego -3

  • I am going to check this bike out next month.. Let me know what you guy's think.

You might like the colors.. just sayin..

  • It's a small sport bike but it's still a sport bike. Be very careful if you buy it Super. I'm sure it's still got enough power and quick acceleration to pop a wheelie without trying. It looks like a nice bike. Since you've never ridden a motorcycle consider taking a rider safety course. No matter how skilled and safe you are, you're surrounded by shitty, inattentive drivers.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

I told him, "consider" is not an option. Do NOT ride without taking a riding course. Once he takes the course you still need experience. I have faith in Artoo. Having met him, I truly believe he has a good head on his shoulders, and if he want to keep it on his shoulders, TAKE THE COURSE!!

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Good call. Like you, I've been riding motorcycles since my teens. No accidents but a car did put me up on a sidewalk once. I never took a course but learning to ride in Iowa 45 years ago is not exactly the same scenario as Super.

  • Just hope you have health insurance Artoo. Not trying to scare you, but EVERY single person I know who has/had a bike has gotten in an accident. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Most were near death experiences where life flashes before eyes. It was all kinds of different reasons too. From some guy just blindly backing out of his drive way like a bat out of hell, to getting cut off in a lane, to sand. Yeah, sand.

I remember the route I used to take to work all the time, and one off ramp suddenly had a pot hole. I went over once or twice and then kept a mental note to avoid it lest I fuck up my suspension.

Well, one time this biker went zooming by me on the FWY turning on that ramp, and almost felt like yelling out the window to warn him. Well, sure enough, 5 seconds later, I see him bloody limping and dragging his bike to the side. It was that damn pot hole.

I admit, I never got into an accident, but I didn't ride long enough, and was extremely lucky even within those few times (keep in mind I do live in L.A. king of idiot drivers).

But now that you live in Cali, just be careful. Make sure you get to know the roads and all the intricacies.

They're addicting, and sometimes make you feel more like Superman than that suit, just you remember you can't fly.

  • 4E, I've been riding for 30 years and no accidents. I Stressed the importance of taking classes to Artoo. Having met Artoo he strikes me as a very sharp guy. If he takes lessons, learns to ride well, always has an "escape" plan in mind he can have a long and safe riding experience. No matter what though, an accident can happen no matter how good or defensive you are. He just need to stack the odds in his favor.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Perhaps it's a mixture of L.A. traffic, L.A. idiotic driving, and my friends thinking they're Evil Kenivial + youth which = accidents, but even some of my pals from out of state also had some.

Like you say, if you ride defensively it greatly limits crashes, but like you also say, no matter what, some bozo can switch lanes suddenly and not see you coming between cars. Most drivers just don't have motorcycles in mind. They just assume everyone's driving a car.

Also, most guys who ride bikes obviously aren't overly cautious, though I realize that's a grand generalization.

  • I am not getting my motorcycle drivers license till I take a safety course. Period.

The advice is welcomed. I totally didn't think about pot holes and small bumps (small but big enough to make the bike jump)
It just means I will have to be more cautious and careful. Lydia told me I cannot have a bike unless I wear a fluorescent motorcycle jacket

  • So, Mr.Wright for ESPN says that Peppers will be looking to get his first sack against Carolina. Nope, can't be. Remember when Peppers got up after a sack and gave the crowd a big Shhhhhhhhh symbol? I am 95% sure that was @ Carolina.

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

I'm pretty sure he didn't get one last year. Carolina and Seattle were his two worst games last year (at least that's how I remember it).

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

  • In reply to Shady:

Awesome find Shady! That is the play I was thinking about. Surely he will get his first Panther sack Sunday.

  • Philly -3

  • In reply to FQD1911:

this is the week the Dirty Birds get exposed for what they were last year...nothing's changed. put some pressure on Matty Icicle, and he folds up & throws the ball everywhere Tom Brady style.

  • San Diego -3

  • New England

  • PANTHERS +7.5

  • Check your pick 'um leagues before the games start. Jacksonville game was a push all week, now at the last minute they are 16.5 point underdogs. I don't get how the bookies work.

  • In reply to EnderWiggin:

Thanks for the heads up.. I wouldn't be suprised if GB covers but no way I'm going to give it big confidence points....

  • Denver -6

  • Detroit -2.5

  • The other day some of the guys were talking about the crappy studio talking heads. The only one that completely drives me crazy is Michael Irvin. I'm sure part of it is due to him being a Cowgirl but mostly it's his bombastic style. EVERYTHING he says is way too loud and overly dramatic. If you didn't listen to his words and just listened to the delivery, you'd think someone had started World War 3. You never get any real insight from him and it's rare he even makes a good point.

Others that make me cringe are Bradshaw, Boomer and Sapp. Although I'm pretty sure Sapp is on his way out. What a shame! Deion should drive me nuts but he mostly makes me laugh. There's nothing malicious about him. He's just silly and trying to have fun. I'm not saying I like him but he doesn't bother me.

  • fb_avatar

    New York Jets -2

  • Washington +4.5

  • Sand Diego, which is German for a Whale's Vagina

  • Redskins -4.5

Also. A request? Would it be possible to add a "picks" tag or something to these posts? Would make it easier to go back through and check the teams we've already picked.

    Thank you, and Bears bless.

  • Miami

  • Oakland +1.5
