Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys Game Thread

Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys Game Thread

Three final thoughts:

  • I agree wholeheartedly with what Mike Francesa said on the radio Sunday morning. I think this game will be won by whichever offensive line/offensive coordinator keeps their quarterback upright. Both QBs are capable of shredding even a good secondary when they have time to throw the ball. Both are also possible of big errors when pressured consistently.
  • DeMarco Murray frightens me more than any other Cowboy weapon. I always believe Lovie's defenses are susceptible to the cut-back runner and Murray is a good one.
  • It is time for Bears special teams to begin their 2012 season.

Bear down.

  • I hope Brandon Marshall is the first receiver to take a bow on the star tonight.

  • I took one look at that Bear and my head exploded.

  • I hate you consumer credit union. I hate you.

  • The Duke of Earl is sitting out tonight? Say it ain't so.

Sanzenwaddle needs to step it up.

  • In reply to Shady:

That would be the only good thing about Earl being out...

  • In reply to Shady:

    DANE Sanzenbobbler?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

  • Soon my padawan's.....soon...

  • Sounds like they're leaving Cookie in the jar.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • Albert's Pessimistic "The Glass is Half Empty" Report.

What I fear having to sit thru this evening:

    1) The Cowboys manage to hang 30+ plus on the Bears and we have to hear Tirico point out multiple times that they had only scored 47 in their first 3 games.

    2) Jason Whitten, who has been VERY "mortal" thus far (granted, no doubt becuase of a lacerated SPLEEN), has breakout game and reminds everybody why he's probably destined for a bust in Canton.

  • 4-Letter reports Forte says he "expects to play".

'Pokes are down a starting safety as well.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I sooo want to see Rob Ryan having a conniption fit for most of the evening. What complete TRAIN wreck of a human being.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

+1000 for usage of 'conniption fit'.

  • Kyle Orton is Romo's backup. Just throwin' it out there.

  • In reply to Shady:

Ohhh, to hear them chanting "WE WANT K.O! WE WANT K.O!"

  • In reply to Shady:

that scares me... maybe we better not injure romo

  • Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders make $182 per game.
    (Source: The 4-Letter. moments ago)

    Really, Jerry?

You can't at least come up with a nice round number like 200?

    Talk about CHEAP!

Don't you sell PIZZAS at your stadium that go for about that?

    Pathetic, Mr. Jones.

    Truly pathetic.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Just did some research and it turns out you can get THREE pizza there for $182.

    Guess what, Jerry?

    That is STILL pathetic.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

man are you on the roll!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I hope that includes your choice of toppings....

  • I really hope the Bears are up by three or four TDs by halftime. I've got to be up at 6am EST and I'd love to be in bed by the beginning of the 3rd quarter...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Bears take note ....

  • I think someone needs to say a blessing for the health and protection Jay Cutler tonight...

  • Did I just watch Darryl Drake just ask Brandon Marshall why he didn't swang on Courtland Finnegan last game?

  • In reply to Shady:

And Marshall is apparently making a documentary about himself.

  • How lame is this Gruden piece on Cutler/Romo? Hope gets another head coach gig so I don't have to listen to him anymore...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    josey wales?

  • McClellan and Melton gettin' it done on third down.

  • Well, we got the first drive time out in. The game must be going according to plan.

  • obligatory unorganized time out

  • In reply to gpldan:

    can't even blame Martz anymore.

  • halfway through the first before we burn a needless timeout. Is that a personal best?

  • Forte ankle injury, again? Wow. An offense reliant on the arm of Cutler is even more so now. I like the 1 step drop to Marshall over the middle for a first. Keep it going Tice. C'mon Cutty.

  • hester screens. oh yay.

  • Hey, if we would have blocked either of the last two plays might've worked.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

They most certainly would have worked. That botched screen to Forte was ridiculously bad.

  • not a bad opening drive. first time I actually saw a swing pass to the HB. It only took like four games.

conservative. let em settle down a bit.

Bears gotta play their lanes against Murray (like Jeff alluded to).

  • davis is dick snot

  • In reply to gpldan:

beat me to it. any other TEs out there? Besides Winslow...

  • Our offense is truly terrible.

  • I think watching Davis drop easy balls is almost as cringe worthy as Gruden's commentating.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

No, nothing is as cringe worthy as Gruden

  • Kellen D on his ass again. Is there anyone who falls down more than this friggin guy? Dude, your 6' 7". STAND UP.

  • Not much of a pass rush tonight, either. Feels like a long night.

  • nice punt by dfw

  • In reply to gpldan:

Gotta give Jeff credit for calling out Moorman.

  • We need to establish the run. Forte doesn't look as spry, so it might be hard.

If they're gonna play 4 cbs, we gotta just get by the 1st level.

  • pound the rock like that. john riggins cutback

  • he was early on sansenpoofter

  • Fuckin' right doggy.

  • False start was my fault. I was just thinking that the offensive line has not had a false start yet.

  • In reply to Jokey:

    haha, choose your destroyer.

  • another timeout?

  • We got away from the run, 3rd and 10.

It's not rocket science Matz Tice. Whatever happened to the "DUH"-fense?

  • Did Lovie seriously turn down a 13 yard completion and 2nd and 2 to take five yards and a first and ten? Just fire him now.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

yeaaa, i was wondering wtf myself.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

I remember thinking "wtf?" at the time

  • we miss earl

  • talk about telegraphing the play on the 3rd and 1.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

What gave it away, the 6 linemen? lol

I like it though. 3rd and 1. gotta do it. stay in FG range.

  • play action all the way in that situation for me. Run cookie out in the flat? Now that's a lol.

  • Every time I see Gould line up, I think I'm more nervous than he is.

That dude must be an awesome golfer.

  • I mean it's further away from their endzone, and worse on down and distance. What's not to love?!?!?

  • Cutler's going to get scheit for that Tice walkaway...

  • damn jay disrespected tice there

  • Why is cutler such a dick?

  • In reply to Stuck in MN:

No way I'd want him for a roomate...

  • In reply to Stuck in MN:

He's had everybody sucking on it his whole life.

  • I want to like him, he makes it tough.

  • Cutler should just call his own plays, old school.

    Against Jax, not tonight.

  • that cuttler tizzy on the sidelines with Tice ain't gonna help his PR issue

  • there it is boys!

  • Peanut!

  • P nutsky. Think the D loved the breather the O gave 'em? That's how it's done.

  • PEEEAAAANUUUUUUUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "hey asshole... what the fuck was that? What happened to the COMEBACK!?!?!?"

    "sorry tony."

    (whispers: "douchebag")

  • I was just about to say, Romo can't guess right all night.

(in a platonic way, not that there's anything wrong with that)

  • btw, I think I bought that bear from a hallmark store in the mall for my girlfriend when I was 13

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    build a-bear?

  • naw man... off the shelf, made in burma, hat fall off in the bag on the way home, $9.99 special

  • lmao good ole Lovie. You don't have to worry about him running a "Duh"-fense.

Safety, LB blitz worked once, let's dot it again right away.

If our D shuts the Boys down this half, that would bode well for us with momentum.

  • pep is a fucking genetic freakshow

  • Our guys are getting held all drive here.

  • fuck man. seriously?!?!?!

  • you have GOT to be kidding me

  • we can't let these guys score.

  • what the hell do we have to do to get a holding call

  • Fucking bullshit.

  • the holding is insane. i guess thats what real refs do...

  • Wooten and Izzy getting raped with no flags. DJ needs to wrap up. Conte is solid all-around. Can't wait for the second half.

  • hehehe all the Eagle players winding up Reid about cheeseburgers

  • Who was Steltz in for there at the end?

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    They said Conte got hurt.

  • Surprisingly, the Bears didn't go to the prevent in that last drive. They actually blitz a bit.

But, gotta close better than that D.

  • Not all that much you can do when the O-line is allowed to tackle you every play.

  • Conte and Peppers both injured right before the half. No idea how serious it is but it's certainly concerning considering the lack of depth at the positions.

  • I think you gotta keep pounding the rock on offense.

  • In reply to Shady:

That stretch play with Forte is working. I have my doubts about Martz Tice though, esp with half time adjustments - hope I'm just over worrying.

  • we gotta have an offensive td

  • In reply to gpldan:

    true story.

How about a specials TD too?

  • In reply to gpldan:

    like that

  • Come on Tice! No more Martz / Turner play calls.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

he's actually a mix of the two. sweet huh?

  • dude, what's going on with hester?

    He litterally dove down. WTF?!?!

  • oooohhhhh heeeerrrrroooooooo!

  • Clearly the Bears had no intention of pounding the rock. Nice catch Devin.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • Yeah!!!!!!!

  • Burned off Hester? Get outta here Claiborne!

  • That's a good TD, but I'd give the refs about a 95% of fucking us here.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    95% chance

  • In reply to Ufficio:

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    we rolled a 98

    gems and dragons!

  • In reply to gpldan:

  • In reply to gpldan:

  • In reply to gpldan:

lol!!! even way after the fact.

  • HESTER!!! God, I hate these momentum killing reviews. This is pretty obvious. Take 30 seconds, call it.

    Hester/Peanut...just like ole times.

Just hope Pepp and Conte are alright.

Like I said in a previous thread, we needed to bring in a safety before an injury! Why don't the Bears listen to me!?

  • Because they keep calling me instead. I don't know what to tell them. Frankly, it's really becoming a pain. Give me your number and I'll have them call you instead....

  • Boomshakalaka

  • uh, meet peanut... bitch.

  • are you fucking serious? We aren't covering witten!?!?!

(good (bad) call by the way al)

  • Conte's back....

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Not that it matters...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    yeah, back 40 yards.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Conte was good tonight. Very good.

  • roach sighting.

What the fuck happened to the D?!? Only one unit showing up at a time?

  • In reply to Shady:

I said, "yeah, back 40 yards."

  • Great way to hold on to that!

  • Fucking pringles maing.

    nice hit Austin btw

  • Jennings! God damn! This guys playing like his ass-hairs are on fire.

  • eeeeewwwww.

  • God I think I love him... I really do.

  • I think I'm liking this Marshall in the slot, really neutralizes the blitz.

  • what the what

  • fuck

  • C'mon Cutty, gotta be better than that.

  • Man!!!!

  • are you motherfucking kidding me!?!??!?!?!

  • Doin the dance!

  • ahahahahahhaahahha

  • In reply to Shady:

    yeah, 40 yards back

  • Dude can still move it!

  • In reply to Shady:

fuck yeah... and not just in a lamborgini

  • In reply to Shady:

yeah, holy shit. He bolted out of there and even threw in a little wiggle.

  • Lance Briggs you dirty boy! showboating from the 20 yard line!

  • 3 turnovers, fuck jyeah

  • I (heart) Tony Romo.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

  • Melton is playing his ass off for that new paper.

  • how about Melton's homecoming?

  • In reply to gpldan:

    everything's bigger in tejas GP.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    Tommie who?

  • Trying to think of when I've been more excited. Screw Romo. Love it.

  • Even with the Olinemen basically tackling our D studs, they're still wreaking Havoc.

Melton, Pepp, Woot, Shea, even Amobi. BALLING.

  • lack a giant liability

  • How bout one more pick six? Bear down.

  • Like drinking a gallon of molasses - Rohomo is a guaranteed bed-shitter.

  • pringles going to get himself killed the way he tackles.

  • lack may as well be a cameraman

  • fuck man... dline's going all out to get the QB, leaving runs wiiiiiide open.

  • Um, other than the turnovers, the D isn't looking that good....

  • can let em score here

  • peanut baby!

  • pep out

  • really? Jersey shore is still in production?

jesus fuck we are all doomed.

  • With the lead, we're back to the cover-2.

Our O needs to kill about 5 minutes right here to get the game back in hand.

  • god I hate chucky

  • jey (heart) brandon

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    jay (obviously)

  • Elbow down.

  • He was down and a half.

  • knee was down you Texas peckerz

  • fuck yeah

  • I can't believe we didn't get pimped on that one....

  • Gerry Austin can suck my wang. That elbow was down.

  • stack the FUCKING SET.

  • nice davis

  • How ya like Kellen Davis now boys? Another HUGE 1st down.

  • Pinder Pictures&loc=3

    you're welcome.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

her career would be benefited by her getting her baps out.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    sweet delicious boobies!

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

Ummm, clearly you've never heard of Lucy Pinder. She airs those airbags out quite regularly.

  • so what you're saying is.... that drinking corona light will stop my life from sucking AND will get me laid?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    goodbye saphire tonic!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

You might get laid with a dude if you drink corona light

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    hahahahahaha... a gay one

(not that there's anything wrong with that)

speaking of that... I think I'm in love with brandon marshall

  • Cowboys are stacking the box, daring Cutler to throw one of his signature ints.

Cutler looking pretty calm and collected tonight though.

Just need to kill some more time and get into FG range.

Our D will let them get down field, but it's gonna take time.

  • That was probably a push-off, and Jay probably shoudln't have thrown it up for grabs. But that's the trust they have in each other 1-on-1.

  • I don't get it maings.

How do we guarantee THIS cuttler every game????

  • why in thee fuck did we dive an injured forte into the middle of the line again?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Yeah, that made no sense.

  • Maulled

  • watching Ryan shit the bed is must see tv

  • In reply to gpldan:

Every time I see those Ryan guys, I think of Dan Hampton's story about them stealing bear out of the players' cars during training camp...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Stealing beer....

  • In reply to tobijohn:

bears might explain why that D was so ferocious.

  • Brandon was being mauled even before the pass was thrown. Would be bullshit if this can get overturned.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Yup. He was held the whole way like Carr was doing the waltz.

We need Bush here. Don't need Dlinemen diving at Forte's lower legs.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    oh bullshit

  • So you can just hump the leg of the WR for 5 minutes as long as one of your defenders tips the ball? what a mental rule.

  • why don't we have a fucking fake field goal that works. If the packers and fucking seahawks can do it, why not us?!?!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Don't be estupido maings.

  • In reply to Shady:

fuck that. get some, you're up by fucking 14 maings.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    no need against Romo

  • hee hee

  • we rotate the fucking safety to prevent Lack from being isolated!!

  • Dez Bryant fucking sucks.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    true story

  • damn it DJ

  • LACK lacks!!!

  • Scheit, that would have been the game...

  • thank you Tony

  • Damn!

  • DJ love you maing! No homo.

  • Instead of PI, the call should have changed to defensive holding. After review.

  • I kinda feel sorry for Tony. He seems like such a nice young man. Nothing like that petulant Chicago QB...

  • Wow. I guess Romo melted down tonight. His WRs, esp Dez, really sold him out. But hey, that's not our problem.

It's looking like 3-1 with Jax next. Feels good.

  • I don't think all those picks were actually his fault....

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Go ahead, call me a Romo apologist. I can take it....

  • In reply to tobijohn:

No, you're right. But that last one was all him.

However, that Briggs one is what Romo does all the time (like Vick). Tried to make too much happen with everyone draped around him.

I say 2 of those were his fault.

  • BAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA... can't lose tonight boys.

  • Davis is just showing off now.

  • In reply to Shady:

he was given a total rekall brain plant on catching...

  • wowwwwwww

  • OK. That's IT!
Who ARE you, #87, and WHAT have you done with Kellen Davis?!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

  • thank you and goodnight

  • In reply to Shady:

Figured out that if i wear it the day before, like against the colts, seems to work. I generally only wear a Bears hat alone, just can't sport two forms of Bear-a-phenelia at once. If it worx, right?

  • Marshall in the slot is the counter to the Blitz

  • Why is Briggs, Pepp or Lach still in. GET THEM OUT LOVIE!

  • takeaway number 14. this season. true dat.

  • I called before the season that we would have 2 players with 6 ints each.

  • Ok,I'm not so nervous now, we could win this one. What's with the special teams tonite? No points, need to work on that I think.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

Hester has looked to be a missed tackle away all season now. It'll come, don't panic.

  • Spaeth giving the cowboys a sympathy sack.

  • briggs posing for his Canton bust

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    1 game.

  • In reply to Shady:

    Week to week.

    There are NO gimmes.

  • In reply to Shady:

??? I was calling out that orton was on the field, what the hell are you boys talking about?

  • Looks like Rome caught de Diabetus

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

    hahaha... shit, is it contagious?!?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Green Mile style. Romo's fucked and Jay's good to go.

  • In reply to Johnnywad:

    nice. love that.

  • neckbeard ho!

  • In reply to gpldan:

HEY... one fucking game at a fucking time asshole!!!!

(no idea, I just got it above for saying the same thing)

  • Cutler with a much more impressive stat line tonight.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    GOOD for K.O.. !

    I don't mind that a BIT.

  • bench Dirty Sanchez?

    bench Romo! orton time!

  • dude, what the fuck is up with running it up against our 2s?

Put the fucking first team o back in and score again. motherfuckers.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    pisses me off. cunts

  • i think thats Cutler's best stat line as a Bear

  • Sweet, Sweet Victory.

    Hells to the yeah!

    3-1 BABY!

  • where in thee hell have YOU been!?!?!

  • Props to Webb tonight, other than that fumble we never heard a peep from D.Ware. Lets hope he keeps it up.

  • man I hate steve young

  • Look how quick this shit got out

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

  • real refs are allowing arm locking and gripped jerseys as long as its on the numbers.

i caught a couple side punches on the dbl team. Webb was allowed to punch Ware up high, but on that Dallas td before the half i saw full grabs, hands clenched on wrists, just crazy shit

  • I like BM... a LOT. Dude's the man.

  • why I advocate no femail sideline reports...

"What does that even actually mean"

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    wow. female.

Yes, I actually just typed that.

  • As it was pointed out, that overturned PI call was ridiculous. Bears' DLine was getting mugged, and I saw at least a couple holds and illegal hands to the face that the Bears' Oline got away with, too.

So the "real" refs aren't gems.

I think Cutler should go to the postgame press conference and say, "We can't rely on the defense to bail us out, and we have to get better as an offense and get to speed earlier in games, but holy shit, I love our defense."

5 INTs, 2 returned for TDs? Sweet.

And Peanut is still my favorite Bear.

  • Normally an A+ in reserved for 1st - 3rd graders. The Bears D deserved that grade last week by outscoring the Rams O. This week they deserve an A++ for scoring twice as many points as the Cowboy's O. WOW, is the defense good!!!!!!!!

  • Two of the things I loved the most in this game:

    1) Tim Jennings turning on the afterburners to get out and screen Dallas pursuit from Briggs on the INT return. Briggs hustled through the line, but TJ got Briggs the TD.

    2) The Bears fans in the stadium being louder than the Dallas fans. Nice "home field advantage," Cowboys.

  • Couldn't believe how often the Girls got away with offensive holding (and defensive holding in the end zone). On further review, how do they not call mugging Marshall in the end zone?

Cutler looked good other than the fumble.

I loved Gruden tonight. "Romo has the greatest cock". That int was not his fault. "Romo has a swell ass". That int was not his fault. "I want to have Romo's shit babies". That int was not his fault. "I'd wax his bayonet". That int was kind of his fault. "I just plain want him". He shouldn't have thrown that ball but it was a great pick by Wright. "If they can just get him a decent OL, I'd marry him", What, he had 5 picks? The Bears played a great game.

On Cutler's fumble, "That's all on Cutler he has to get rid of the ball quicker". He had it for 4 seconds and was dodging DL the whole time. Other than that Gruden wasn't biased.

  • Bedtime kiddies......
